Chapter 42: The Seeds of Rebellion and a Lady’s Transformation

Larry and Ellis settled discreetly into Peter’s residence. They promptly informed Daisy of their investigation’s findings.

Given their considerable distance, they couldn’t ascertain how Daisy would react to the truth. Would she be able to endure it?

Before their arrival, they had sensed Daisy’s profound trust and admiration for Prince Gapp.

Even after he usurped her throne and imprisoned her, she had merely believed Prince Gapp was acting impartially.

However, the subsequent events completely put their minds at ease.

Prince Gapp’s magnanimous speech at the banquet had indeed garnered the approval of Danga’s upper echelons.

Upon returning home, the high-ranking nobles and officials began earnestly addressing the unruly populace.

Yet, unlike Gapp, they possessed no such patience for explanations.

In their view, such matters of state were not for mere commoners to understand or participate in.

Consequently, their chosen methods involved forceful expulsion and suppression.

Through sheer violence and fear, the protests within Danga did indeed diminish. However, the entire nation’s atmosphere grew tense, uneasy, and utterly oppressive, like a powder keg on the verge of explosion, just waiting for a spark to ignite it.

Daisy seized this opportune moment, placing the final straw that would break the camel’s back.

That straw was Gapp’s biological son, Bruno.

He personally appeared to corroborate Daisy’s claims.

Utilizing various media outlets, akin to newspaper agencies, Daisy disseminated this news across nearly the entire territory of Danga.

Public sentiment erupted instantly. Even Gapp’s most loyal followers found no effective way to suppress such widespread outrage, and in some areas, civil unrest even broke out.

Daisy showed no signs of stopping, continuing to pour cold water into the boiling oil.

This ‘cold water’ was the information Larry and Ellis had provided her: the truth about the Demon Spirit Race and Prince Gapp’s collusion with them.

Given the prior incident of the humiliating treaty that surrendered national sovereignty, this new revelation caused an immense stir among the populace. Many were deeply convinced of its veracity.

Even more critically, several generals commanding armies openly expressed their dissatisfaction with King Gapp, demanding an explanation from him.

However, King Gapp’s response this time was notably lacking. Faced with the generals’ pointed questions, he remained utterly silent.

Seizing this momentum, Daisy emerged from the shadows into the open. Her first act was, naturally, to explain that the crimes attributed to her were entirely fabricated by King Gapp and that she had been supposedly controlled by the Demon Spirit Race.

She now openly defied King Gapp, leading her own rebel army and liberating the innocent civilians who had been suppressed.

Subsequently, the situation spiraled further beyond Gapp’s control. The very generals who had publicly challenged King Gapp earlier now directly defected to Daisy’s side.

This development significantly bolstered Daisy’s influence and prestige.

Civil war in Danga was on the brink of eruption.

During this tumultuous half-month, Ellis and Larry did little else besides analyzing Gapp’s potential moves through information provided by Peter, and conversing with Hannie.

Hannie’s silver hair and blood-red eyes had captivated Ellis’s interest. Had Ellis still been male, they would have undoubtedly found a way to ‘conquer’ her.

Even now, though a romantic pursuit was out of the question, cultivating a bond with Hannie held a unique charm. What if she regained her memories someday? Wouldn’t their affection for each other instantly deepen?

“Haha, the Qiuqiu folk are truly amusing! They actually eat dirt, haha.”

Hannie, who had never ventured beyond her own home, was utterly enthralled by the stories Ellis recounted. The vibrant world outside was far more complex than anything she had read in books.

Throughout these conversations, her relationship with Ellis rapidly grew closer.

They had, at the very least, reached the level of close confidantes. Ellis, now more relaxed, no longer maintained the aloof demeanor she had displayed upon their first meeting; her every word and gesture brimmed with wit and charm.

However, during her time with Hannie, Ellis was also compelled to learn a few things.

As a young lady of noble birth, Hannie naturally knew how to be an endearing and virtuous gentlewoman.

While Ellis’s open personality amused her, Hannie was utterly astonished by Ellis’s lack of basic feminine knowledge.

She didn’t, however, connect this to Ellis having previously been male. Instead, she assumed years of adventurous living had simply made Ellis overly unconcerned with decorum.

Thus, to repay Ellis for the captivating tales of the outside world, Hannie devised a ‘Lady Transformation Plan’ for her.

Of course, this didn’t demand Ellis become as prim and proper as Hannie, never showing her teeth when she smiled.

But Hannie was determined to instill in Ellis some essential feminine knowledge and appropriate speech.

For Ellis, this process was nothing short of torture.

Yet, seeing the beautiful, sickly, silver-haired, and blood-eyed girl gaze at her with such expectant eyes made Ellis’s heart ache.

‘Learning is learning,’ she thought. ‘I can always revert later. Besides, I’ll eventually change back into a man anyway.’

Once she reconciled with this thought, Ellis became much more cooperative.

In just half a month, with Hannie’s guidance, Ellis transformed into a graceful, witty ‘lady’.

“Seriously, why don’t we just get married? Your current appearance and temperament perfectly align with my ‘XP’.”

Ellis had just emerged from Hannie’s room, not yet fully adjusted from her ‘lady’ persona, when she ran straight into Larry.

Larry, observing this Ellis, who had been almost completely reformed by Hannie, teased, “Look, I’m handsome, rich, have a house and a car. My parents in this world should be quite pleased with you, and your parents in this world should be quite pleased with me. It’s simply a match made in heaven!”

“Match your sister!”

Ellis glared fiercely at her friend, who seemed to have targeted her as a conquest. “Every word you say is pushing the progress bar. You’d better be careful.”

“What progress bar?” Larry asked, perplexed.

“The progress bar for your castration!”

Seeing Ellis revert to her usual fierce and wild demeanor, Larry felt a pang of regret, but secretly, he also felt relieved. After all, this was the Ellis he knew best.

Ellis looked at Larry, his rich facial expressions making it hard for her to decipher what her friend was thinking.

She had a distinct feeling that Larry’s gaze had been rather odd lately.

‘Could this guy actually be lusting after my body?!’

‘Could everything he said before have been serious?!’

The thought sent a chill down Ellis’s spine. She instinctively recoiled from Larry, her eyes filled with警惕.

“What’s wrong? Is there an enemy behind me?”

Upon seeing Ellis’s wary gaze, Larry also tensed, his dominant hand moving to his sword hilt, ready to strike behind him at any moment.

Ellis shook her head, then opened her mouth, but no sound emerged.

She simply couldn’t bring herself to ask, ‘Are you interested in my body?’

And even if she did ask, Larry would likely respond with a teasing, ‘Of course I am!’ She knew this was his usual way.

Unless she used an extremely serious tone to demand his true feelings.

Ellis: “…”

‘She’d rather die.’

Larry watched Ellis’s face, which shifted between various expressions, and asked, utterly bewildered, “What exactly is going on?”

“Look, I’m a woman now, right?”

“Hmm.”

“Then shouldn’t you be more mindful of how you speak to me, just like you are with Daisy and the others? You know, keeping your distance, watching your words and actions, that sort of thing.”

Larry scrutinized Ellis, finding her statement quite sudden.

Had his friend become ‘feminized’ so quickly?

“You’ve already… given up on treatment?”

“Given up your sister!”

Finding their communication futile, Ellis promptly swore, then huffily stormed off.

Larry, still utterly confused, quickly chased after her.

“Why are you following me?” Ellis asked impatiently.

“It’s important! King Gapp’s movements are pretty clear now. I came to get you so we can discuss our next steps.”

“Then why didn’t you say so earlier?! You just threw a bunch of garbage at me the moment you saw me!”

‘Don’t we always throw garbage at each other?’ Larry buried this thought deep down. Otherwise, this ‘kitten,’ who had suddenly gotten temperamental for no apparent reason, would truly explode.
