Chapter 66: Unexpected Roommates and a Morning After

The waiter timidly asked, “Are the two of you not together?”

Ellis rolled her eyes in exasperation. However, upon hearing that this was the last deluxe suite available, she turned to Larry. “Larry, let’s play rock-paper-scissors. The winner gets to stay in this room, and the loser goes back to their old room.”

She was eager, chuckling to herself. When it came to the cunning tactics of rock-paper-scissors, she had never feared anyone.

What she didn’t expect, however, was that Larry merely glanced at the room, then at her, before grabbing her wrist and pulling her inside.

“One room is one room. Stop dilly-dallying like a little girl.”

With that, he casually closed the door. The waiter, utterly bewildered, stared at the closed door for a moment before quickly walking away.

Inside, Ellis crossed her arms and retreated to a sofa on the opposite side of the room. She watched Larry with a face full of suspicion, threatening him, “I’m warning you, don’t even think about trying anything with me. I’m not to be trifled with.”

“Nonsense. As if I don’t know you prefer meat over vegetables.”

Larry, perhaps truly a little tipsy, waved his hand dismissively. “It’s not like we haven’t shared a room before. If I wanted to do something, I would have already. You sleep like a log every night, anyway.”

Larry smirked faintly. “Alright, I’m going to wash up first.”

With that, Larry brazenly began stripping off his clothes right in front of Ellis. He then sauntered off to the shower, completely naked, leaving Ellis with a face full of black lines.

‘This idiot.’

Seeing Larry’s casualness, Ellis felt her own prudishness was a bit laughable. Yet, she couldn’t blame herself for being so suspicious; Larry’s recent behavior had simply made her feel uncomfortable.

Especially the words Larry had spoken to her last night.

Marrying Larry… how could that ever happen?

But honestly, living with Larry was quite good. They understood each other, knew each other inside out, and had shared a life for many years.

They had known joy, conflict, and excitement.

Now, for them, simply being together had become a matter of course.

Although the initial curiosity and eagerness they once held for each other, from when they first met and became friends, had long faded.

This quiet companionship, however, had forged a bond between them stronger than ever before.

They had both become completely intertwined in each other’s lives.

As she pondered these thoughts, the sound of water from the bathroom eventually ceased.

Feeling refreshed, with most of his drunkenness gone, Larry emerged without even a towel. He swaggered out, still completely naked, with that thing everyone understood swaying proudly.

Ellis didn’t know why, but she suddenly recalled a relaxing anime she had watched in her previous life, and her old face instantly flushed crimson.

She immediately wanted to slap herself.

‘What am I blushing for? Is this the first time I’ve seen it?’

Ellis felt her mind was also abnormally drunk. She patted her large head.

“What are you doing? It’s your turn to shower.”

Larry glanced at the peculiar Ellis but didn’t pay it much mind. He plopped down on the sofa opposite her, still in the same state, opened a cold drink, and guzzled it down.

Ellis hadn’t expected him to dare approach her.

‘Fine, you’re impressive. I must have inhaled too much of that ghostly aura today. If I can’t provoke you, can’t I at least avoid you?’

Ellis felt that if she didn’t leave soon, her face would surely evaporate.

Upon entering the bathroom, Ellis didn’t even turn on the hot water, opting for a cold rinse instead.

After a shiver, Ellis immediately felt refreshed, and her mind began to clear. ‘What am I being shy about? Larry and I are closer than blood brothers. Isn’t a close relationship natural?’

‘Why does it feel awkward now that I’m a woman? It seems like I have an excessive secretion of female hormones, truly messing with my brain circuits.’

Once she thought it through, Ellis quickly adjusted the water temperature to hot. As the comfortable warm water cascaded over her, she still resolved to return to her normal self.

Larry’s nonchalant appearance before her clearly showed he still regarded her as a brother. She, too, had to reciprocate.

‘I won’t wear anything either!’

‘Who doesn’t know how to go naked?’

Thinking this, Ellis ripped off the towel draped over her, walked directly to the bathroom door, and placed her hand on the doorknob. Then…

She hesitated. She felt like a clay figure softened by water, unable to exert the slightest strength, and the bathroom door, which should have opened with a simple pull, seemed to have been welded shut.

Ellis’s mouth trembled, so much so that she didn’t even know what she was mumbling. ‘Coward, what’s there to be afraid of? Hasn’t he seen me before?’

‘Even with a different skin, brothers are still brothers!’

Ellis took a deep breath and yanked open the bathroom door, simultaneously squeezing her eyes shut as if some prehistoric beast lurked outside.

She stood there blankly at the bathroom entrance, not stepping out even half a pace. After a long moment, she heard no sound.

‘Did that guy faint again from a nosebleed? Or has he developed resistance to my beautiful body and isn’t tempted anymore?’

Ellis opened her eyes in puzzlement, only to see Larry lying soundly asleep on the large bed, half his body slumped over the edge, pressing down on the blanket. He looked utterly blissful.

‘Damn it! I finally made up my mind to give him some, and he just fell asleep?!’

Her tension immediately eased. With it, the fatigue and drunkenness that had faded with the warm water slowly began to envelop her again. Moreover, it was already late night, the time when one’s vitality was at its lowest.

She yawned, dragged her weary body to the bedside, and sighed at the deeply sleeping Larry for a reason she didn’t quite understand. Then, she lifted the blanket and slipped in.

She was too tired; she needed a good rest.

“Goodnight, Larry.”

As Ellis and Larry slept together, a group of creatures was quietly approaching their cruise ship from beneath the sea.

“It seems that good-for-nothing didn’t lie to me. He really has some tricks up his sleeve. The money wasn’t wasted.”

The colossal creature, hidden in the distant depths, stared at the cruise ship with eyes like searchlights. Its massive maw twisted into a grotesque grin.

“It looks like things are falling into place. I hope this time it succeeds.”

The colossal creature closed its eyes, and a strange ripple emanated from its body, soaring towards the heavens.

Before long, dark clouds gathered, like an army of the undead shrouding the sky, completely obscuring the countless stars and the brilliant moon.

At this time, the Captain had already gone to rest, and the First Mate was on duty.

He was concentrating intently, occasionally checking the elemental compass to ensure the ship’s course.

He had also noticed the changing weather in the distance, but the sea was unpredictable, and its climate was notoriously fickle.

However, it appeared the raindrops were not large, and the sea remained relatively calm, without significant waves, so he didn’t pay it much mind.

But without the natural star map, his frequency of checking the elemental compass increased, and he periodically instructed the helmsman to maintain their direction.

Just then, fish resembling dolphins swam beneath the ship, beginning to emit strange sonic waves.

The frequency of these sound waves was imperceptible to human ears, so no one on the ship reacted significantly.

However, the First Mate in the cockpit scratched his head. He wondered if it was due to his frequent glances at the elemental compass, but he felt that its needle always showed a slight deviation each time he looked.

By all accounts, their helmsman had been working for over a decade and was very steady at the wheel. Even if the needle deviated, it shouldn’t consistently drift in one direction.

Yet, he didn’t overthink it. Firstly, the deviation was truly minute each time. Secondly, although the sea wind wasn’t yet strong enough to alarm them, controlling the ship’s body was certainly more challenging in the current weather.

So, he continuously adjusted the course in cooperation with the helmsman, unaware that he was gradually drifting away from their original route, heading towards an uncharted, unknown sea.

The colossal creature at the bottom of the sea commanded the surrounding squids, “All of you, watch closely. Don’t let that ship sink, or that good-for-nothing will come squawking at me again.”

The squids around it immediately scattered, all rushing to guard the ship.

Seven hours passed in a flash. In the room, Larry woke up first, yawning.

He groggily sat up, leaning against the headboard, still half-dreaming, when a fragrant scent suddenly wafted from beside him.

He looked to the side with still-sleepy eyes, only to find a woman seemingly lying naked beside him. The pleasant scent emanated from her.

‘So, it was a woman.’

Larry realized with a start, and then…

‘Huh, a woman?!’

‘My god!’

‘Did that *b*tch* fall for me? Knowing I’m a man with a strong sense of responsibility, she actually resorted to such a devious trick to forcibly cement our relationship!’

A wave of despair washed over Larry. ‘Ellis, I’m sorry.’

‘I never imagined I would stumble here today. It seems I’ll have to spend the rest of my life with this crazy woman.’

Thinking this, he felt a surge of despondency. By now, his mind had cleared considerably. He looked again, only to realize the woman looked incredibly familiar.

‘Wait, isn’t that Ellis?!’

‘What’s going on?’

Larry was utterly bewildered. ‘Could it be that Ellis finally came to her senses and wants to formalize their relationship? But I don’t remember anything from last night. Look at this girl. Was I too drunk?’

Larry was filled with regret. He wished he hadn’t drunk that awful alcohol. ‘And Ellis, when would I ever not welcome her throwing herself into my arms? Wouldn’t it be better to choose a time when I’m sober, so I can also experience the joy of losing my virginity?’

“Mmm”

Just then, Ellis seemed to be stirring as well, her brows furrowed, a soft sigh escaping her lips.

‘Should I give her a good morning kiss right now?’

With this sudden thought, Larry, in his muddled state, lowered his head and leaned in for a kiss.
