Chapter 36: Farewell to the Past

After returning the glove space to Xi Yu, Owen and his group of Ogaso finally felt a heavy weight lift from their hearts.

During this recent period, they had truly been on pins and needles, with every second feeling like a year.

When they first received the supreme treasure that had deeply enticed them previously, they had been both excited and apprehensive, nearly lured by the demons in their hearts.

But they quickly discovered that as long as they held the glove in their hands, a sharp, stinging pain would radiate from it, eventually bypassing their physical bodies to directly invade their souls.

As time went on, they even felt they might go completely mad, and vaguely, they seemed to hear some terrifying existence whispering to them in the dark.

Even taking turns to guard the glove was of no use.

This made Owen understand very clearly that if he truly dared to keep the glove space on his person, he would not only go mad but might actually die.

They had caught quite a lot of seafood, but they truly didn’t dare hold the glove space any longer, otherwise they could have harvested even more.

Their plan to perform well before Xi Yu had vanished into thin air just like that.

Seeing Owen and his partners looking so fearful of the aftermath, Xi Yu was actually quite curious.

He knew others might face some issues holding the dragon scale glove, but he truly didn’t know what they had experienced, deciding to find an opportunity to ask them closely.

Xi Yu checked the space; the harvest was decent.

He estimated that there were about seven to eight hundred thousand pounds of seafood.

Owen and his group didn’t pay much attention to Jane Yuyi and his companions. Suppressing their near-collapsing hearts, they quickly stood behind Xi Yu.

They truly didn’t recognize Jane Yuyi, not paying him much attention.

And Jane Yuyi stared blankly as they addressed Xi Yu: “Lord White Dragon?”

Xia Zheng looked at Jane Yuyi and swallowed hard.

‘Surely it isn’t the white dragon he was thinking of, right?’

Jane Yuyi was shocked beyond measure. Aside from Owen’s group calling Xi Yu the white dragon, his greatest shock originated from the twelve Ogaso B-class experts before him.

‘How?’

‘How could it be?’

‘How could the Ogaso still have so many B-class experts, and he completely didn’t know about them?’

Didn’t the Ogaso on Kun Star only have seven B-class experts in total?

How could so many B-class experts suddenly appear?

Jane Yuyi instantly perceived a heavy scent of conspiracy from this.

Possessing the bloodline of the Ogaso within his body, he didn’t feel any joy from this, instead being filled with deep unease.

Because of this, he actually ignored Xi Yu’s identity slightly.

***

Just then, another massive shockwave erupted on the sea surface in the distance, and then they watched as a small white cat flew toward them from the sky.

Flew over?

“An anomaly, be on alert,” Jane Yuyi barked instinctively.

Xia Zheng quickly took up a defensive posture, but the next second, the white cat’s body flashed and appeared directly on the ship, landing before Xi Yu.

“Lord Dragon, I’m returning the Scale Bead to you,” the white cat threw the Scale Bead to Xi Yu like a hot potato, appearing somewhat disrespectful in its haste.

The cat had intended to clear the surrounding sea area completely, but it quickly found itself unable to hold out.

Currently, its eyes revealed a deep terror.

This Scale Bead space absolutely possessed a massive problem; the longer it stayed near its body, the more it perceived the immense danger contained within. It vaguely felt as if it were being watched by an exceptionally terrifying existence, and it even suspected this terrifying existence was a Food Sequence Lord!

Only, it didn’t dare be completely certain.

It lowered its head, its heart filled with dread. What terrified it even more was that it felt this great existence was actually not the white dragon, but some other, even more fearsome entity.

The cat couldn’t help but look at Xi Yu; could there actually be another Food Sequence Lord standing behind the white dragon?

But now that it stood before Xi Yu, the cat felt a sense of peace once more, as if everything from moments ago had been an illusion.

But it knew this could absolutely not be an illusion.

Xiao Bai’s reaction didn’t escape Xi Yu’s notice; Owen’s group was like this, and Xiao Bai was the same, which made Xi Yu highly curious about what they had actually perceived.

The cat’s harvest was far superior to Owen’s group, though the seafood he caught was a bit too large, and Xi Yu couldn’t help but shake his head.

One hundred pounds of pure meat for every ten thousand pounds caught meant the cat would likely eat until it could fly.

“Xiao Bai, work a bit harder and bring the Manta Snake on the beach over,” Xi Yu pointed at the Manta Snake.

“Alright, Lord Dragon.” The next second, Xiao Bai vanished, and then a loud thud echoed on the ship as the Manta Snake’s carcass appeared on the deck.

The five people on the ship were once again deeply shaken. At this moment, Jane Yuyi finally heard clearly—someone had indeed addressed Xi Yu as Lord Dragon.

He looked at Xi Yu seriously, appearing unable to believe his ears.

‘Was this exceptionally young youth before him truly a dragon?’

‘He had to be mistaken, right?’

But his ability to make such a massive Manta Snake disappear instantly was indeed not something an ordinary person could achieve.

So, what were they supposed to do next?

Invite him?

***

Three hours later, Jane Yuyi’s ship set out on its return journey.

The original five-person ship currently carried more than a dozen B-class experts.

Naturally, this beautiful small white cat was no ordinary entity; Jane Yuyi could clearly perceive an aura from it that made him feel dread.

He was certain this white cat was at least a B-class expert.

However, he had no energy to observe the cat right now, focusing all his attention on Xi Yu.

Xi Yu had merely proposed wanting to see their station, and he had agreed instinctively, without Xia Zheng even daring to raise an objection along the way.

After all, the B-class experts were outsiders, so if they had to rush, Xi Yu would surely have to let him carry him.

Thus, Zhang Qingyuan was fully prepared along the way, waiting for Xi Yu to speak, so he could finally carry him like Ding Ren had.

To his dismay, Xi Yu didn’t make such a request at all throughout the journey.

Zhang Qingyuan was incredibly depressed.

The group of six walked toward the west.

Along the way, Xi Yu discovered many places suitable for a breeding farm.

Xichuan Province was filled with mountains and water, and almost any place would be suitable.

However, Xi Yu wanted to be further from Xincheng, and the clearing not far ahead happened to be where the core of the Ghost Domain had been; he felt building the farm there would be quite good.

Xi Yu didn’t walk fast, familiarizing himself with the surroundings as he observed.

Traveling from Xincheng to the Ghost Domain core, after careful observation, he discovered that many roads along the way were already intact.

Before the catastrophe, the Middle Continent’s infrastructure had been incredibly developed, and basically every road was connected, though they were neglected now.

Xi Yu inspected various sections along the way, finding many roads damaged due to various reasons. But repairing them didn’t seem difficult, as long as the surface was cleared. After several decades, the majority of the sections remained intact.

This brought Xi Yu a pleasant surprise; with careful repairs, the Ghost Domain core could soon be connected to Xincheng.

At noon, they ate casually outside.

Because they had performed well as guards along the way, Gabriel and his partners finally got to eat rice and meat, though there was no seafood.

Although they should have been satisfied, watching Xi Yu and Zhang Qingyuan enjoy a lavish meal of seafood and meat, they drooled again.

At the sight of the seafood, even Gabriel couldn’t sit still, wishing he could snatch a task immediately.

After eating, the group continued their journey.

It wasn’t until three in the afternoon that they arrived leisurely at the Ghost Domain core.

After a few days, the earth was once again covered in green, and signs of life could faintly be seen nearby.

Standing atop the highest peak, Xi Yu looked down over the entire Ghost Domain core, realizing this place was a blessed land.

The surroundings were ringed by mountains, and extending outward from the valley of the core was a massive natural basin.

When the time came, they could raise cattle, pigs, ducks, and geese in the center of the basin, and raise chickens on the mountains, turning this place into a paradise.

“I’ve decided; I’ll turn the breeding farm into a ranch,” Xi Yu couldn’t help but say.

Using such a great location solely for a breeding farm would be a pity; turning it into a ranch would allow people to visit and play here. He believed that one day, the Middle Continent would reclaim its homeland, and perhaps this place could become a scenic spot.

must have some connection with the white dragon.

He knew Xi Yu’s identity was highly unusual, but currently, he had no idea what to do.

***

An hour later, the ship finally docked near the cliffside.

Xi Yu leapt onto the deck, and then the white dragon soared into the air, vanishing into the clouds above.

He utilized his spiritual perception to scan the cliffside cave, quickly locating Ao Lan’s hidden small vessel in the ocean nearby.

Ao Lan was currently sleeping, completely unaware of his impending doom.

Xi Yu descended upon the vessel as the white dragon, his power completely incinerating the ship and Ao Lan’s physical body.

Simultaneously, the puppet bodies in his space and across the globe crumbled into ash as their connection was severed, and Ao Lan’s soul was entirely destroyed.

Vroom—

The dragon let let out a majestic roar that echoed across the ocean.

Returning to the cliffside, the white dragon left hundreds of pure chicken carcasses on the cliff for the residents before flying away with his guards.

The people in the caves rushed out, cheering and shouting as they watched the white dragon disappear into the distance.

Jane Yuyi stood on the deck, waving his hand toward the sky.

Xia Zheng also stared blankly, and only after the white dragon was completely gone did his arm drop.

“Fellow citizens, brothers, and sisters! There really is a dragon in this world, and he is right here in our Middle Continent! And we have meat to eat; the divine dragon has delivered meat to us!” Jane Yuyi roared toward the caves. “This is completely edible, pure meat without any mutation traits!”

The cliffside was silent for a moment, and then the cheers and mad joy completely drowned out the sound of the waves.

Xia Zheng was also shouting with excitement.

This scene was destined to become a legend, passed down forever in this place.

But at this moment, the excited Jane Yuyi felt a sudden sense of regret.

He had an intuition that he should have had a more magical encounter with the divine dragon, but now they had lost this opportunity.

Jane Yuyi had no idea what had just occurred nearby.

And he would never know that this meant his rebirth.

***

Returning to the Star-Dream Farm, Xi Yu had Xiao Bai leave first, and then called Owen and his partners over to lay out their roles openly. “Ao Lan is dead.”

Their expressions shifted drastically.

They had always wondered if the dragon would interrogate them about the Ogaso Empire’s secrets, but they hadn’t expected him to know of Ao Lan’s existence, let alone execute him already.

At this moment, they felt deep terror, not knowing how he would dispose of them.

“I already know of Ao Lan’s plans, and now that the culprit is dead, I won’t kill you. I will give you a chance to redeem yourselves,” Xi Yu said directly.

“You will continue to serve as my guards, and when there are no tasks, you will assist the Middle Continent. I’ll introduce you to the First Realm Guard and his partners later. As long as you perform well, your past actions will be forgotten, and your rewards won’t be lacking. Since you’ve lived on the farm, I hope you cherish this opportunity.”

“Yes, Lord White Dragon,” they bowed deeply in response.

“You all go down first,” Xi Yu waved.

They left immediately with respect.

With this, Xi Yu had completely settled this matter.

He had cleared the final shadow from his heart.

Reborn, he could finally integrate fully into this life, leaving his past regrets behind.

After resting in his room for a while, Xi Yu walked out to inspect the farm, feeling exceptionally pleased.

He strolled through the farm leisurely, taking in every change.

The construction teams had finished the first batch of brick houses and had already begun building the residential apartments.

Xi Yu watched them work with focus.

They greeted him enthusiastically, and he smiled back. He recognized many of them, having been here since the farm’s construction began.

Among them, a youth named Wei Xiaozhao was staring at him sheepishly. Xi Yu recalled he had been thin and weak when he first arrived, but his body now looked quite robust.

Xi Yu waved at him, and the youth waved back with excitement.

Xi Yu didn’t disturb them, leaving quickly.

He arrived at the dining hall, which had been rebuilt into a brick building with a spacious layout.

He walked into the kitchen, finding Fang Jianbo and Gabriel discussing something.

Seeing Xi Yu, they were highly pleased.

“Xi Yu.”

“Lord White Dragon,” Gabriel bowed.

“Xi Yu, you haven’t eaten yet, have you? I’ll make you something,” Fang Jianbo said.

“Alright, then I’ll trouble the head chef,” Xi Yu smiled.

Before long, Fang Jianbo served a bowl of duck blood vermicelli soup, packed with various meats.

Xi Yu ate to his heart’s content. “The flavor is excellent.”

Fang Jianbo was delighted. “Now that we have enough resources, I’m planning to recreate some pre-catastrophe delicacies. Dumplings, buns—we’ll make them all. Gabriel also wants to make some bread and cakes.”

“That sounds great; you guys work hard. I’m looking forward to it,” Xi Yu smiled.

***

He walked toward the coops, finding Man Wenhuai and the others gathered around.

“Lord White Dragon,” Isaac was the first to spot him, whispering with excitement, “Come quickly and look; the chicks have hatched.”

The B-class expert was actually grinning like a fool as he watched the chicks hatch, appearing not so menacing after all.

“Lord Dragon!” Xiaoqin and Xiaoya were also here, calling out excitedly.

Xi Yu walked out of the coop with them.

Although he hadn’t seen the hatching process, looking at the chicks still brought him joy.

The two children shrank behind Man Wenhuai, realizing they had made too much noise.

“Lord Dragon, these newly hatched chicks are very energetic, and their survival rate will surely be high,” Man Wenhuai reported.

Xi Yu nodded.

“Lord Dragon, come to my house for dinner! We have delicious food!” Xiaoqin ran over and grabbed Xi Yu’s pants, looking up at him.

Man Wenhuai hesitated but didn’t stop his son’s bold behavior.

“Alright, then I’ll trouble you for a meal.” Xi Yu had just eaten, but he felt he could still eat more, wanting to see how they lived currently.

The family lived in a brick house that was exceptionally clean and tidy.

Xi Yu was quite surprised by the food they presented.

It was round, resembling a large bun, but the bottom was pan-fried to a golden-brown, looking highly inviting.

“Lord Dragon, this is called Songzao Baba, a delicacy from our hometown. My parents had always missed it, and now thanks to you, we have enough grain, so we tried making it,” Ming Yun said sheepishly.

“Songzao Baba? Then I must taste it.” Xi Yu took a bite, his eyes lighting up. “The flavor is indeed excellent; very fragrant.”

The skin was thick and chewy, pan-fried to a crispy golden-brown at the bottom, and filled with a savory chicken meat filling; it was incredibly delicious.

“It’s made by grinding non-glutinous rice into flour, roasting it in a pan, and mixing it with boiling water to form a dough. Then we fill it and pan-fry it,” Ming Yun explained the recipe.

Xi Yu ate several, and Ming Yun’s family was delighted.

“Lord Dragon, take some with you; we can always make more,” Ming Yun said.

“Then I won’t stand on ceremony,” Xi Yu smiled, storing the remaining Songzao Baba into his space, which made the children’s eyes sparkle.

“Lord Dragon, do you think we can have the dining hall make this as well? That way, everyone on the farm can eat it,” Ming Yun said with red eyes.

“Of course. I’ll have Fang Jianbo come learn from you; he’s been wanting to expand his recipes anyway. In exchange, you guys take these,” Xi Yu produced a pile of sea snails, which had been purified of mutation traits.

He decided to leave the farm for his own journey now.

With his tasks mostly completed, he didn’t need to worry about the farm or the Middle Continent for the time being.

He was about to return to his room to pack his things and depart.

He walked to his door, only to find someone standing there, waiting for him.
