“And if you still don’t know after all this, then I’ll just have to keep feeding it to you until you understand. I’ll make you take all of it.”
“…Bastard.”
She glared at him, but Chae Ju-han only smiled lazily and th*ust deep inside her. He pulled her body down against him, forcing himself deeper, and Yi-jae’s back arched.
“Ah!”
“Yi-jae, can’t you tell? I haven’t even touched myself. Doesn’t that make me look especially good?”
“Ah- wait!”
“And you’re talking about an o*gy? You’ve got some nerve.”
He growled and drove his hips upward with brutal force, as though he intended to break her apart.
“That’s not what I meant- the rumors- ”
“Ah, yes. A memorable night? Fine. I’ll give you a night you’ll never forget. Spread your legs wider.”
“No, that’s not it. You kept saying it wasn’t any of my business…”
“Go Yi-jae. There’s only one thing you need to know.”
“Ah!”
“That Chae Ju-han is f*cking gorgeous.”
His self-assured voice rasped against her neck as he bit down and th*ust harder. The sheer force of him left her clinging to him with both arms around his neck.
“So? Are you curious how many times I came while waiting here for you?”
She shuddered.
He had apparently spent the evening waiting for her, leaving evidence of his impatience throughout her flower shop. The heavy scent lingering in the air proved it.
“I guess I’d only know if it dried first.”
Chae Ju-han laughed quietly and thrust upward again.
“But a half-hearted feeling like that isn’t enough.”
“…What?”
“It means you’ve still got a long way to go.”
“What are you talking about-”
He lifted her and moved again.
Yi-jae clung tighter around his neck.
What exactly was lacking? What was she still far from understanding? What feeling of hers was so inadequate?
He didn’t know how fiercely she had waited for five years.
Just thinking of all the things she couldn’t say because Chae Ju-han wasn’t the man she’d once known made her eyes sting.
How warm the breakfasts he used to make had been.
How eagerly she’d waited for morning every night.
How many things she’d never managed to tell him.
She had wanted to tell him everything. And only after he’d become someone who could no longer hear her had she regretted all of it.
If she’d thanked him back then, would he have remembered her?
If she’d shown him her feelings even once, would things have been different?
Was it partly her fault that he’d forgotten?
She carried so many unsaid words inside her that they weighed down her body.
For five years she’d accumulated them, speaking only to herself.
How she’d waited for him.
How much she’d wanted to tell him.
How desperately she’d missed him.
That she’d waited far longer than seventy-two hours.
That she’d waited for him for a very, very long time.
“Ah- !”
The sensation overwhelmed her, and she nearly fell backward. Even as pleasure swept through her body, Yi-jae wrapped her legs around his waist and held on tighter.
“I missed you.”
The words escaped before she could stop them.
Once spoken, they couldn’t be taken back.
Clinging to him, she only tightened her embrace.
Chae Ju-han wanted her now, but she didn’t know how long that would last.
Maybe he would forget her the moment he walked out tonight.
He had forgotten her once already. Forgetting her a second time couldn’t be difficult.
“I waited for you.”
“F*ck, Go Yi-jae.”
He spoke in a low voice close to her ear. Then he bit her neck again, marking the skin where old traces had already faded.
“I came.”
“Yes. You came now.”
Yi-jae rubbed at her burning eyes.
She didn’t want to cry.
He didn’t know that she hadn’t waited a few hours.
She’d waited five years.
“I came yesterday, too.”
“…”
“And the day before that.”
Her heart pounded.
She hadn’t seen him.
Not even his car.
She’d sat in the flower shop all day waiting for a black sedan, her heart racing whenever she saw anything black.
“You sleep so deeply that someone could’ve carried you away and you wouldn’t have noticed.”
“You came… at night?”
“At dawn.”
For the past several nights, cold air had seeped into her tiny room.
She’d assumed it was because the building was old.
She’d thought it was a draft that couldn’t be blocked with tape or insulation.
But it had been Chae Ju-han.
He had come to her room in the middle of the night.
“All three days?”
“Every day.”
“Why?”
“Because I wanted you.”
If even those crude words sounded sweet, perhaps she’d finally gone mad.
Perhaps she’d finally been infected by Chae Ju-han’s shameless way of speaking.
“I wondered what you’d be like asleep.”
“…”
“But I prefer you awake.”
“…”
“You get flustered just from looking at me anyway.”
“…You could’ve woken me up.”
Her face burned.
It was an absurd thing to say.
She was telling him he should have woken her.
At this point, there was no denying that her thoughts had become a complete mess.
“I already settled for going to the boxing gym instead. And this is how you repay me?”
He laughed quietly and kissed her ear.
“That’s why you went to the boxing gym?”
“Life was definitely easier when I didn’t get distracted all the time. These days…”
“…”
“Go Yi-jae keeps appearing in front of me. Even when she’s not there, I keep thinking about her.”
He spoke nonsense while pulling her attention back to him.
Could she really tell him not to go to the boxing gym anymore?
Could she take responsibility for saying that?
“Take that with you. They say it helps you sleep.”
“Go Yi-jae? Yeah. I think Go Yi-jae does help me sleep.”
“No. The lavender.”
At last he noticed the flowerpot she’d carried around all day to give him.
He picked it up.
And crushed it.
Even the flowers in his hand were crushed.
“What are you doing? If you don’t like it…”
Her voice faltered.
He’d destroyed the gift she’d wanted to give him all day.
When he pulled off her sweater, all desire vanished from her expression. She grabbed the discarded fabric and glared.
He’d rejected her gift and somehow looked even more pleased.
“Seeing how you destroy gifts the moment you receive them, Chae Ju-han, maybe you don’t need a flowerpot. Maybe you need an entire lavender field.”
She pouted.
Chae Ju-han crushed the lavender flowers against her bare skin.
“What are you doing? Stop.”
“Hm. Smells nice. I think I’ll sleep well.”
He kept rubbing the scent into her skin, as though trying to cover her in lavender.
Purple petals clung to her.
“Maybe it’ll work even better this way.”
He grinned.
“Stop ruining them.”
She understood what he was trying to do.
But she couldn’t bear to watch the gift she’d brought become any more damaged.
“Then can I leave the flowers alone?”
He smiled.
“…Be gentle.”
He laughed.
Then he pushed her hair back, adjusted his hold on her waist, and looked down at her.
“Maybe I should test this flower’s effects again.”
She shivered.
“What if it causes heat instead of sleep?”
He laughed and pulled her closer.
And just as he claimed, he kept her awake all night.
Until morning sunlight spilled through the blinds.
Go Yi-jae cried out again and again.
Her voice had long since gone hoarse, but he still held her close.
And each time, she clung tighter.
As though rejoicing that her long wait had finally come to an end.
