Chapter 2: My Wife 2

Jiang Mian’s mind turned, and he suddenly realized something, his eyes widening slightly.

‘Could it be because I’ve eaten too much lately and finished all the food in Lu Fu’s house? So Lu Fu has no food left and has started eating garbage?’

Just like how he used to stuff anything he could find into his mouth whenever he was hungry.

Come to think of it, he had actually been very clever back then.

Knowing that he wouldn’t get hungry as quickly while asleep, he would eat all the flowers and plants in the mountains and drink almost all the water before going to sleep.

Only after the new flowers and plants had grown back would he wake up.

Actually, Jiang Mian had tried leaving the forest to look for food before.

After changing form and arriving in a place where humans were active, he had merely taken a sweet-smelling thing to taste before leaving.

Yet people had chased him for a long way with sticks before he finally managed to escape.

If Grandpa Turtle hadn’t told him before that he must never transform into a dragon in front of humans, or they would catch him and eat him, he would have flown away long ago.

Because of that experience, he had never dared leave the forest again.

Thinking of this, Jiang Mian couldn’t help puffing out his lips in grievance.

After waking up from a nap, he had found himself in the middle of a road.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find where his cave was.

He couldn’t go home anymore.

And now Lu Fu had no food either.

He was going to have to go hungry all the time again.

How could there be a dragon as pitiful as him in this world?

Lu Fu had no idea what sort of nonsense was running through that little head of Jiang Mian’s.

He took the fruit juice and handed it to him, then tugged at the corner of his mouth and sneered, “What a fussy little brat.”

He couldn’t even stand the slightest smell of smoke.

He was way too spoiled.

Though that was what he thought, his hand instinctively crushed out the cigarette.

The moment he realized what he had done, his hand froze.

‘No. What the hell am I doing?’

Not only had he refrained from forcing him to drink alcohol and brought him fruit juice, he had even put out his cigarette just because the other person said he disliked the smell.

‘Have I lost my mind?’

Lu Fu bent down and leaned closer to Jiang Mian, carefully examining him.

Hmm…

He really did have a fussy-looking face.

The tip of his nose was small and slightly upturned, while his cheeks had developed a soft, rounded fullness from being well fed, making him look as tender as a glutinous rice dumpling.

He always blinked half a beat slower than ordinary people.

No matter what he did, he was always slow and unhurried, his innocent, dazed manner completely natural.

If the information hadn’t stated that he was already twenty years old, Lu Fu would have thought he was underage.

“Why are you getting so close to me?”

Those watery almond-shaped eyes lifted slightly.

His eyelashes fluttered softly as he looked at Lu Fu with faint confusion, his clear eyes plainly reflecting the dumbfounded expression on Lu Fu’s face.

For some inexplicable reason, the tips of Lu Fu’s ears flushed an unnatural red and grew unusually hot.

“There’s something on your face.”

He casually wiped Jiang Mian’s face.

The soft, squishy sensation only made him feel even more uncomfortable.

Before Jiang Mian could say anything, Lu Fu straightened up, ran a hand through his hair, and said impatiently, “Alright, alright. Why do you look so pitiful? Did I bully you?”

Although he sounded impatient, the cigarette butt he had slipped into his trouser pocket betrayed the turmoil in his heart.

‘This Jiang Mian is no amateur. Why does he have to act cute while talking? His skin is as tender as white tofu, he’s an orphan, and he works every day to make money. Isn’t this obviously some elaborate scheme to make a fool out of me?’

Besides, from the moment he had entered the private room until now, he hadn’t done anything excessive to Jiang Mian.

Yet this guy had already turned his eyes red like a rabbit, and the corners of his lips were practically drooping to the floor.

If he had really bullied him, wouldn’t he cry the whole sky down?

Jiang Mian sniffed softly through his nose, his voice muffled.

“I want to go home.”

Although this place was beautiful, he liked his cave more.

He wanted to transform into his dragon form and hug his beautiful stones while he slept.

Lu Fu looked at Jiang Mian strangely.

‘Why is he acting cute again?’

“Fine, fine. We’ll go home. I’ll take you home.”

Lu Fu agreed without thinking.

He called out a casual goodbye to the others, who appeared to be drinking but were actually sneaking glances at them, then grabbed Jiang Mian and prepared to leave.

“Young Master Lu, leaving so soon? Didn’t we agree to drink until we dropped?”

“Exactly, exactly. Abandoning your friends for a beauty, Young Master Lu.”

“You two aren’t living together, are you? f*ck, you hid it from us that well?”

“When you used to come with Young Master Qi, were you ever this attentive, Young Master Lu? Hahahaha…”

The group chattered away, their obvious delight at watching the drama unfold impossible to miss.

The moment Lu Fu heard the name Qi Yu, he snapped back to his senses.

‘f*ck, what was I doing just now? Why was I so concerned about Jiang Mian?’

He had come here to have fun.

What did it matter to him if Jiang Mian wanted to leave?

Having figured it out, Lu Fu immediately changed his attitude.

“You go back by yourself. The driver is waiting outside.”

After saying that, he didn’t look at Jiang Mian again.

Jiang Mian stared blankly at Lu Fu, who had suddenly changed his mind.

He pressed his lips together, then slowly walked out.

‘Humans really are the best liars.’

“Hey, it’s your first time here. Do you know the way? I’ll walk you out.”

Jiang Mian had barely stepped through the private-room door when a curly-haired man quickly put down his wineglass and hurried after him.

“I’m Young Master Lu’s friend, Lin Yu.”

“Oh, oh. Nice to meet you, Lin Yu.”

“Hahaha, why do you talk so cutely? What’s your name?”

“Jiang Mian.”

“Even your name is cute…”

His voice disappeared as the door closed behind them.

Xu Sheng glanced at the increasingly displeased expression on Young Master Lu’s face and silently moved several steps farther away.

After Jiang Mian was sent back to the villa, he discovered as soon as he entered that there was a stranger in the house.

Lu Jianglian was looking at the tablet in his hand and didn’t even raise his head.

“Have you eaten dinner?”

Jiang Mian thought he was asking him.

He lightly scratched his cheek with his fingertip and answered slowly, “I ate a little.”

He had secretly plucked a few flowers in the backyard and eaten them just now, but he was still very hungry.

‘Is this human asking whether I’ve eaten because he’s going to feed me? There really are lots of good people in the human world after all!’

Hearing the unfamiliar voice, Lu Jianglian paused.

“?”

He raised his head and met Jiang Mian’s expectant expression.

When he got a clear look at the young man’s face, Lu Jianglian rubbed his aching temples, his head beginning to throb.

The butler and Lu Fu had hidden this deeply enough.

If he hadn’t returned from his business trip and happened to stop by to check on his younger brother, would he have soon found himself with a ‘sister-in-law’?

And of all people, the kid had to look so much like that boy from the Qi family.

No wonder the butler had suddenly asked for leave to go home when he heard that Lu Jianglian was coming back.

Jiang Mian thought Lu Jianglian hadn’t heard him clearly.

He hurried over in small steps until he was about a meter away, pursed his bright red lips, and made a small gesture with his hands.

A little louder this time, he repeated, “I only ate a little.”

He seemed quite bold.

It was impossible to tell whether Lu Fu had given him that confidence or whether he was simply this carefree by nature.

Lu Jianglian scrutinized Jiang Mian for a long while without any intention of responding.

The man before him had a pair of charming, almond-shaped eyes that should have made him look flirtatious.

Yet the sharp lines of his brows and eyes, along with their slightly raised angle, gave him an air of composure and authority instead.

Even at home, he was dressed in a black suit.

His neither-thin-nor-heavy build was clearly that of someone extremely disciplined.

His expression was also excessively impassive, as though nothing in the world could cause even the slightest ripple in his emotions.

He was obviously not someone easy to approach.

Jiang Mian, who had had very little contact with humans, was completely hopeless at reading emotions.

He simply acted on instinct, so he didn’t sense anything different about Lu Jianglian compared with anyone else.

His world was very simple.

In his eyes, there were only good people and bad people.

The people who had chased him with sticks before were bad people.

Anyone who fed him was a good person!

Seeing that the person in front of him was ignoring him, Jiang Mian lowered his eyes dejectedly.
