Join the ServerTo save you time: The author successfully lost their job and, in a moment of ‘brilliance,’ had a bit too much to drink, causing a short circuit in their brain. Today’s update will unfortunately only arrive at 6 PM. At that time, there will be a combined eight chapters released simultaneously at 8 PM, comprising the three previously promised chapters, the two owed from the 23rd, one compensatory chapter for the delayed update, and two additional chapters for today’s delay.
Furthermore, starting November 1st, a minimum daily update of 10,000 words will commence, along with bonus chapters for donations and monthly passes.
That concludes the update explanation. What follows is merely my venting, a torrent of grievances I must unleash. Feel free to scroll past this point, dear readers, as you are here for the story and its plot, not to witness the author’s woes and self-pity.
I am merely writing whatever comes to mind, so please regard me as someone rambling incoherently while drunk. My mind isn’t clear.
After all, I have no close friends or family to confide in, and telling my mother would only cause her undue worry. It’s better to simply write it all down here.
I was fired by the store manager today. I’ve struggled to find stable employment, and writing novels on Pineapple Bun has been my only consistent source of income. Just when I thought I’d finally found a decent job at a Cainiao Post station, I was informed less than half a month later that someone else would be taking my place.
I still don’t understand why. My wages were settled inexplicably, and just like that, I became unemployed once more. They never told me if I lost a package, or if I made a mistake with a delivery; they offered no explanation whatsoever.
I hadn’t signed any contract when I started working there, but they did pay my final wages, even adding an extra three hundred yuan. It’s almost been a year since I moved out to rent a place on my own, yet in the end, I’ve accomplished absolutely nothing. I’m no different from a complete waste.
My father’s accident compensation money is still with my mother, saved for my future house. Thinking about it, my depression stemmed from witnessing my father die in that car accident right before my eyes.
At the time, the only thought consuming my mind was that everything that happened was entirely my fault. After that day, I replayed all my childhood traumas: my parents’ divorce, my mother locking me in a small hotel for an entire day and night, leaving me alone at my aunt’s doorstep, and the bullying I endured after her remarriage.
I remembered my father forcing me to write letters filled with hatred for my mother, throwing away gifts my grandmother bought me, and how I always felt like an inconvenient burden living with relatives. In middle school, I was bullied by other students. Thinking of all this, I chose self-harm, ran away from home, escaped school by climbing out a fourth-story dormitory window via the air conditioning unit, and ultimately dropped out of high school, my life spiraling downwards.
Now, looking back, I realize I simply overthought things back then. In truth, my parents and relatives were incredibly kind to me, especially my uncle and aunt, who practically raised me for half my life. No one is perfect.
It was my own arrogance and stubbornness, believing that my departure would lead to a better life for my family. Instead, I only caused greater trouble. Once I came to terms with it, I actually felt a bit embarrassed by my past self, feeling no different from those ‘blackened elementary school students’ you see online, hahaha…
I won’t scold myself anymore. It feels like I’m crazy for doing so.
‘Should I delete these thoughts?’
‘No, I’ll keep them.’
After all, I’m just writing whatever comes to mind. ‘Should I write about what happened next?’
‘Let’s not. I don’t want to make myself depressed again.’
Hahahaha.
Nothing has changed after all these years.
I don’t plan on looking for another job for now. I’ll go back to my hometown to spend time with my great-grandmother and great-grandfather, then write novels like crazy for all of you readers. I’ll search for a new job after the New Year. I don’t have a wife or children, so being alone has its advantages.
This is also why I dare to promise that I can make up for all the updates and add more chapters tomorrow; I am now a free person! I can write novels constantly, no longer like before, where my daily updates were shorter than my… well, you get the idea.
In summary, the author is unemployed and can now update like mad. This time, I swear very, very seriously, I will never break my promise again.
If you have any questions or suggestions for this book, please post them in the comment section. I promise to reply to every single query and suggestion!
I actually wanted to write a lot more, but my head is starting to ache. So, I’ll leave it at this for now. I doubt anyone will read this far anyway, so I won’t get carried away by my own musings.
See you at 8 PM.
