Leila did not deny it. Instead, with a single fluid motion, she conjured six blank cards from her hand.
These cards, including the one that had already been consumed, were all blank, unlike the ones Qixian had burned when transforming into Haiwen.
“I’m not sure why, but even though I devoured a portion of that clown’s disguise talent, I can’t use it at all unless I utilize these cards I took from her.”
“Each card grants me only seven minutes of use. When the patterns on it completely vanish, it signifies the end of its duration. The disguise will automatically dispel and the card face will burn away if the time runs out or if I sustain a fatal injury.”
Ila took the cards, examining each one meticulously.
‘The material felt just like ordinary playing cards?’
‘Yet, she could sense a peculiar power residing within them.’
“Alright, little Ila, now that you’ve had a look, it’s time to return them to your sister.”
Leila reached out to retrieve the six cards from Ila’s grasp, but Ila, quick as a flash, stepped back, a triumphant smile gracing her lips.
“I need to inspect them further, just in case you’re hiding some sinister plot, you know?”
‘That’s for teasing me with Gungnir before, making me fall so terribly.’
‘Oh-ho? Little Ila is a bit rebellious, isn’t she?’
Suddenly, Leila leaned in sharply, her hand gently caressing Ila’s calf as she whispered, blowing a soft breath into Ila’s ear.
“Your sister spent two minutes on you last night, you know.”
Ila’s ear had always been one of her particular sensitive spots. Back when Ila and Leila first reunited, Leila had effortlessly subdued a fleeing Ila with just a soft breath into her ear.
No matter how much time passed, this tactic always proved remarkably effective on Ila.
Her legs instinctively weakened, her body instantly turning soft and pliant, causing the six cards tightly clutched in her hand to scatter onto the ground.
Ila herself also crumbled to the ground, utterly disarmed.
Ila had grown accustomed to such teasing. Especially in recent days, she had been thoroughly played with, inside and out, developing a certain immunity. Moreover, having already experienced pleasure shortly after waking that morning, her body had entered a state of ‘sage time.’
She quickly recovered, immediately squatting down to gather the playing cards.
Unfortunately, Leila had already picked up all the cards from the floor, leaving only one fluttering beneath the washbasin.
With a childish surge of competitiveness, Ila dashed over and snatched it up.
‘Hmm, the pattern on this card seems to be missing a small segment compared to the others.’
“Never mind, never mind. Consider this card a gift from your sister to her dear sibling. After all, I’m not as petty as you, Ila.”
“Hmph, I barely ever use disguises. What would I need this for?”
Despite her words, Ila’s actions betrayed her true feelings as she tucked the card into her pocket.
Any advantage she could ‘freeload’ from Leila was a win; after all, she would eventually stab her to death.
“You’ve rambled on enough. What exactly is your plan? Don’t tell me you intend to transform into White Rose and brazenly waltz into the confidential room to find information?”
Ila shook her head dismissively. That plan was the most impossible one. Yet, when she looked up and saw Leila nod affirmingly, a serious smile gracing her lips, Ila gasped.
“Are you serious? White Rose’s identity has been designated as missing. If you disguise yourself as me, it will definitely arouse suspicion. Furthermore, the Haidu branch alone has three commander-level Magical Girls…”
Considering the opponent had once effortlessly crushed five contemporary peak Magical Girls, including herself, Ila knew the Magical Girls of Haidu posed no threat to Leila. She cut herself off, but then continued anxiously, “Even so, you’d be discovered before you even got close. Impersonating White Rose would only lead to negative consequences.”
“Little Ila,” Leila said calmly, observing Ila’s flustered state, “Are you worried about your sister?”
“Ah! How could I be? How could I possibly care about you? I’m just worried that if you’re exposed, you might, in a fit of rage, contaminate the entire Haidu and harm innocent people, that’s all.”
Ila’s evasive gaze was unconvincing, even though her heart was indeed fantasizing about such a scenario.
Leila gently shook her head, her soul-piercing voice echoing through Ila’s very being.
“Has little Ila forgotten what her sister excels at most?”
In that instant, Ila felt a sudden throbbing pain in her brain. Her vision flickered erratically, her purple eyes clouded as if veiled by a thick mist. Her perception of Leila was subtly twisting, little by little.
Ultimately, the name ‘Leila’ transformed into ‘White Rose.’
She knew perfectly well that *she* was White Rose, and the person before her did not possess the documented blonde hair and blue eyes. The truth was that White Rose had been swallowed by the Abyss’s Black Mud. Yet, the information her brain was now transmitting told Ila that the person standing before her was, without a doubt, the true Magical Girl: White Rose.
Snap!
A snap of fingers echoed, and Ila’s eyes immediately cleared.
‘That was… Leila’s usual reality alteration?’
Seeing the wicked smile curling on Leila’s lips, Ila instantly understood her plan.
“If it were merely a matter of altering perception with this appearance, there would still be a slight risk of exposure. But by transforming into White Rose, the only altered perception is the fact that White Rose is missing. Combined with a ‘pawn’ I set up yesterday, entering the confidential room is no difficult feat for me, your sister.”
“Heh, you really were scheming something since yesterday,” Ila retorted sarcastically, hearing Leila speak of a ‘pawn.’
“While it’s highly annoying that you’re transforming into me, it is indeed a rather straightforward method.”
The approach was efficient and guaranteed, though it might involve too much self-sacrifice.
However, as long as she could find documents and information about the Black Fire, she would have a greater chance of preventing that disaster.
This was for the salvation of the world.
If Leila wanted to play around with the appearance of White Rose, then let her.
After all, she was playing with the image of Magical Girl: White Rose. What did that have to do with Ila?
Thus, Ila thought to herself, giving up on resisting.
“However, there’s one more part of the plan that requires your help, little Ila.”
“What?”
Leila plunged her hand abruptly into her own chest, and before Ila’s astonished gaze, she pulled out a hovering, black, spherical core.
“This is?”
Ila found the aura emanating from this object incredibly familiar.
‘It felt like I’d sensed it somewhere before.’
“This is what dropped yesterday when Ye Yunchu defeated that corrupted beast at the station. I instinctively absorbed it into my body.”
“You mean that mutated one-star Cadaver Beast?”
Leila nodded, then continued, “A portion of this fellow’s power doesn’t originate from the Abyss. Furthermore, its memories contain a blank segment and a burning black flame.”
With that, Ila understood what Leila needed her to do.
“Hmph, fine. I’ll go investigate this thing.”
“With your current power, you might not be able to investigate it.”
“What do you mean?”
“Although you now possess the body of a Dark Princess, your spiritual core is still predominantly human from the surface world. You cannot perceive those entities.”
“So…”
Leila smiled, pinning Ila against the wall. Just as Ila was about to resist, a sudden softness pressed against her lips.
