Chapter 31: The Genius Talisman Master

“Then draw another rain talisman!”

Lin Yaoyao pointed at the rain talisman in the book and told Lin Feiyuan to draw it.

Lin Feiyuan glanced at the illustration. What was so hard about that? He bent over and finished it in a few quick strokes.

“Here!”

Lin Yaoyao took the talisman. It was exactly like the one in the book.

If Lin Feiyuan had never learned talisman arts before and could replicate it with a single look, then he was a genius talisman master.

Lin Yaoyao stared at him, excitement gleaming in her eyes, unable to hide her joy.

The path of talismans was easy to enter, but few ever achieved real success.

Most people spent their entire lives just to reach the rank of third-grade talisman master.

Now the Lin family had produced a genius talisman master. From now on, they could strut through the Tian Du Kingdom, even the whole Central Continent, without fear.

“Third Brother, you drew the talisman. You should be the one to test it!”

Lin Yaoyao handed the rain talisman to Lin Feiyuan. He activated it, but nothing seemed to happen. A hint of disappointment crept over him.

‘Did I guess wrong?’ Lin Yaoyao felt dazed.

‘No!’

A clear pattering sound came from the roof.

It was raining!

It was raining!

Lin Yaoyao grabbed Lin Feiyuan and dashed outside. The courtyard was already in the middle of a torrential downpour.

“Third Brother! You’re a genius, a genius talisman master!”

‘Genius?’

Being praised by Lin Yaoyao made Lin Feiyuan’s face turn red. His whole life, the word others had used most for him was “idiot.”

“Yaoyao, I just copied a talisman from the book. It’s so simple. How is that as impressive as you say?”

‘Simple?’ To Lin Yaoyao, that book was heavenly scripture!

“Third Brother, take that lightning talisman from earlier. An ordinary talisman master can only summon blue lightning, but a high-grade talisman master’s talisman can summon purple lightning, strong enough to go up against a Golden Core realm expert.”

‘Wow! That strong?’

This was beyond what Lin Feiyuan had expected. What Lin Yaoyao said next moved him even more.

Talismans could be sold. A single ordinary lightning talisman could fetch five hundred spirit stones, and a high-grade one could even sell for ten thousand.

‘Ten thousand spirit stones?’

One casually drawn talisman was worth that much? That was more than he could earn gambling at a casino. The thought alone got Lin Feiyuan excited.

This wasn’t talisman arts. It was a pen that turned rocks into gold.

“Um… Yaoyao, can I borrow this book for a few days?”

“No.”

Lin Yaoyao refused flat out. Lin Feiyuan was so angry his eyes bulged. Then Lin Yaoyao changed her tune.

“I’ll give it to you.”

‘Give it to me?’

Lin Feiyuan was too excited to speak clearly.

Lin Yaoyao nodded and handed the “Nine-Rank Talisman Arts” to Lin Feiyuan. His face flushed with shyness, and he felt a little embarrassed. This was too precious.

It was rare to see Lin Feiyuan acting so bashful. Lin Yaoyao found it amusing. A simple-minded brute like him could have such a shy moment.

“Third Brother, during the arena matches, didn’t you say you’d be my follower? Consider this book a gift from me, your leader.”

‘Leader?’

Lin Feiyuan had never heard that word. Lin Yaoyao quickly explained it meant boss.

“From now on, I’m your boss!”

‘Wasn’t the boss of the family the eldest brother?’

Lin Feiyuan was even more confused.

The more she explained, the more tangled it got. So Lin Yaoyao put it in one sentence: as long as you listen to me, I’ve got your back.

Lin Feiyuan nodded. Anyway, listening to his little sister was never wrong!

“Yaoyao, from now on, half of everything I earn selling talismans is yours!”

‘Jackpot!’

Lin Yaoyao secretly rejoiced.

[Ding! Discovered a genius talisman master. Reward: five thousand points. The Lin family’s misfortune index: 70. Luck value increased to 30.]

Lin Yaoyao hadn’t expected this pleasant surprise. The system had rewarded her on its own.

“As long as the host discovers treasures or talents, rewards can be earned! This system is very easy to get along with.”

Lin Yaoyao immediately swore she would never call the system a dog system again.

“System, can I exchange points for cultivation?”

In this world of cultivation, strength was the only thing that mattered.

Lin Yaoyao knew that her little tricks were nothing in the face of true power.

The system replied: [Of course. Exchanging now.]

A surge of powerful spiritual energy poured into Lin Yaoyao’s body. The exhaustion she had felt moments ago vanished completely, and she was filled with strength.

Lin Yaoyao circulated her qi and realized she was about to break through. She immediately entered her spiritual sense space.

The spiritual energy there was abundant, which made it easier for her to solidify her new realm after the breakthrough.

“Miss!”

“Miss!”

An urgent, familiar voice pulled Lin Yaoyao back to reality.

Chunyu was pacing frantically outside the door, pounding on it. She had called for a long time, but no one inside had answered.

Lin Yaoyao had not set foot outside her room for ten days. Before going into seclusion, she had explicitly told Chunyu not to disturb her unless something important came up.

For Chunyu to be this frantic, something big must have happened.

Lin Yaoyao opened the door and saw someone kneeling upright in her courtyard.

“Chunyu, what’s going on?”

Lin Yaoyao pointed at the person in the courtyard, looking confused.

“Miss, you’re finally out. Baozi has been kneeling at the door for three days.”

Baozi was Third Brother’s servant. Why was he kneeling in her courtyard? Could something have happened to Third Brother?

Her guess was right!

Chunyu spoke with a sob in her voice. “Is the Third Young Master really going to be expelled from the Lin family?”

Lin Feiyuan was usually unreliable, but he was always kind and approachable to the household servants. Chunyu couldn’t bear to see the Third Young Master fall into misfortune.

Baozi, a grown man, knelt on the ground, tears and snot streaming down his face.

“Fifth Miss, please, save the Third Young Master! Only you can save him!”

Lin Feiyuan was going to be kicked out of the Lin estate?

The old man wasn’t one to confuse right and wrong. What exactly had happened? Lin Yaoyao told Chunyu and Baozi to explain the whole affair in detail.

As it turned out, this matter was related to Lin Yaoyao.

Before going into seclusion, Lin Yaoyao had told Lin Xuanzhong that the Lin family’s storehouse had been emptied, and asked him to investigate in secret.

In the end, they discovered that Lin Feiyuan was the one who had emptied the storehouse.

Lin Feiyuan had taken a beating and was now kneeling in the ancestral hall as punishment.

A theft from the storehouse was no small matter. Lin Xuanzhong naturally understood the stakes. He could only suppress the news first and think of a way to replenish what was missing.

Second Uncle Lin Xuanyi had gotten word from somewhere. He gathered the clan elders and called a clan meeting in the main hall to expel Lin Feiyuan from the Lin family.

“A person who steals family property and behaves with such vile conduct should be expelled from the Lin family according to clan rules! He is not worthy to be a descendant of the Lin family!”

When Lin Yaoyao reached the main hall, the clan elders were in the middle of condemning Lin Feiyuan.

Lin Feiyuan knelt on the ground with his head lowered, not saying a word. Lin Xuanzhong frowned deeply, his face full of worry.

They really were a pair of bitter-faced father and son!

“Who says my Third Brother stole the storehouse goods? Is there evidence?”

The clear, pleasant voice made everyone turn to look at Lin Yaoyao. A young maiden, yet her bearing was remarkably steady.

Lin Feiyuan looked at Lin Yaoyao like a drowning man grasping at a lifeline, hope igniting in his eyes.

Lin Yaoyao walked to Lin Feiyuan’s side and patted his shoulder, as calm and composed as a mother comforting a child.

“Don’t worry. I told you, I’ve got your back!”
