Chapter 34: A Reluctant Wingman

After Annie’s reprimand, the matter was settled and both Liya and Yagesi escaped punishment. They were then sent back to class… as if it could be that simple!

“This warehouse was supposed to be converted into a new arena. But thanks to your enthusiasm, it’s been demolished for free, and you’ve created all kinds of holes. If we were to build an arena here, we’d have to spend extra to fill them in… Unfortunately, the academy doesn’t have the budget for that.”

Under Annie’s supervision, Liya and Yagesi were driven back to the warehouse, now a complete wreck.

“What! I clearly won!”

Yagesi’s expression twisted into one of utter devastation, as if struck by lightning.

“You, look! Didn’t we just settle it? You unleashed your ultimate move, and I tore it apart with my bare hands. If not for Annie, you’d have surrendered already, right?!”

“Except for the first part, everything you said about the outcome is totally your imagination, you idiot!”

“Impossible! There’s no way you could beat me!”

“You’re being unreasonable!”

Turning away, Liya had no desire to deal with him any longer. They had no common ground.

“Hurry up and clean this mess… Let me be clear, at least two-thirds of this damage is your fault. If you hadn’t grown so huge, it wouldn’t have gotten this bad. Reflect on that. That section is yours; I’ll take this side.”

Liya pointed to the ruins on the right and strode over, leaving the rest to Yagesi. But Yagesi seemed deeply shaken, muttering disappointedly… Liya didn’t care to listen. Nothing good came out of that beast’s mouth.

Alice felt awkward. She had decided not to leave in the first place, thinking she was half the reason Liya and Yagesi had fought. Shame filled her.

Yagesi’s voice was choked with tears, genuinely hurt by Liya’s rejection. Seeing him not as a fierce wolf but as a puppy with wide, pleading eyes, Alice lacked the courage to refuse.

“Thanks! You really are my wingman, Alice!”

Alice felt she had done something irreversible. Was this really okay? Agreeing to help Yagesi meant she’d be aiding his pursuit of Liya… But Liya was just a child, barely ten! Was Yagesi a lolicon?

Alice shot a horrified glance at Yagesi, who looked back at her expectantly, waiting for an idea.

Whatever. It was unlikely Liya would develop romantic feelings for him. As long as it stayed below romance—just helping Yagesi and Liya get along, become friends—she could handle that.
