X
Several Dark Abominations stood motionless at the edge of the altar, as if waiting for some more terrifying existence to descend, and they were merely servants in attendance.
A dozen or so young lives, their faces pale, some with sunken cheeks and hollowed eyes, were emaciated.
Their skin was as white as snow, their hair like frost.
The reason the Dark Abominations hadn’t bothered with them was that they had already acknowledged their existence as a continuous supply of Life Source Energy to pave the way for a greater arrival.
Su Chen was enraged, his fists clenched tightly.
Having fought on the front lines for so long, he had only heard about the cult’s actions but had rarely seen them firsthand.
The people bound by the metal wires, though their hair was white, were not old.
They were once vibrant youths who also dreamed of one day going to the front lines to kill the enemy.
But now, they might never be able to fight on the front lines.
The lost Life Source Energy would cause them to age faster than their peers.
Perhaps when others were still in their forties, they would already look like sixty-year-old men.
And their health could no longer be guaranteed.
They might suffer a minor illness every three days and a major one every ten.
Perhaps they would die directly from a single disease, never to see the beautiful world again.
Su Chen gripped the hilt of his blade tightly.
The massive amount of energons in his body spun wildly, forming a huge vortex.
Immense power surged forth, and an azure light emerged from countless acupoints.
In his mind, a golden-red long blade attached itself to the physical blade in his hand, radiating the brilliant light of dawn.
At this moment, Su Chen transformed into a crimson stream of light, bursting through the doorway and instantly slicing the few remaining, unsuspecting Dark Abominations in half at the waist.
Fly-blue blood splattered out, landing on the floor.
With a flick of his long blade, all the blood droplets fell away; not a single one landed on the body he carried on his back.
A few of the Moon-rank Dark Abominations tried to prop up their bisected bodies, attempting to use the pillar-swords in their hands to launch a final attack on the enemy who had his back to them.
But with a single swing of the golden-red long blade, a booming roar whistled through the air, sending the Dark Abominations flying.
Bang! They slammed against the wall.
Then, he slashed at the deep black altar.
The seemingly indestructible black altar shattered into pieces under several blade shadows, collapsing with a roar.
The students placed in a corner let out a low “Hmph~”.
Their pained expressions relaxed considerably, the shackles on their bodies released.
Su Chen hurried forward, searching through the crowd one by one.
He hadn’t seen his brother in years and wasn’t confident he could find him in one go.
“Where is he? Su Xuan… No… Not this one either!”
Su Chen examined them one by one, but none of the faces matched the one in his memory.
That meant his little brother was not among this group.
Then where did he go?
“Su Xuan… don’t scare your big brother like this…”
The composed Su Chen, the always calm and collected Su Chen, was panicking.
He could be certain that the person he was looking for was truly not in this group.
His little brother really wasn’t here!
Was he dead? Or was the information wrong? Or had he already escaped and was hiding somewhere?
He didn’t know. Su Chen didn’t know.
He tried to wake a sleeping student to ask about his brother, but the person seemed too exhausted, dead asleep.
Su Chen grew anxious, checking every corner of the spacious room.
Nothing. Still nothing. His little brother was not here.
Su Chen immediately headed upstairs, calling out his name at the same time.
“Su Xuan! Where are you?”
In the pitch-black corridor, Su Chen could only hear the chaotic sounds of battle and the echo of his own voice.
Su Chen unleashed his perception, searching for Su Xuan’s figure in the dark building.
Not far away, he saw a pair of figures in pursuit.
Even though he had a rough idea that the person being chased couldn’t be his brother, Su Chen still rushed over, clinging to that slim hope.
Inside a room, a disheveled old man was fighting a Moon-rank Dark Abomination with his slender sword.
The old man had little combat strength left and was being cornered by the ferocious Dark Abomination.
He could only use a few opportunities to roll away and escape a fatal blow.
But the weak energons in his body could barely support his high-intensity movements.
His already aging cells could no longer support the high-energy demands.
“Crack~”
It was the sound of a bone breaking.
The Dark Abomination’s strength was far greater than Wang Xiang’s.
Cornered, he was forced to clash blades.
Cracks like a spiderweb spread across the bones of his right arm, which finally broke.
Energons suppressed the excruciating pain.
Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, and his body trembled.
Another strike from the pillar-sword, starting from his right shoulder and going down.
The man’s entire body felt as if it were being torn apart.
A terrifying, desperate wail filled the room, and crimson blood sprayed onto the white walls.
The Moon-rank Abomination’s dark red eyes grew brighter, seeming to enjoy the pleasure of killing, the joy of victory.
“Crack… crack!”
The massive pillar-sword came down again, and the withered body was mangled into pieces.
This was the Black God he worshiped, which had personally sent him into the world of the dead.
Su Chen, arriving at top speed, only saw the mutilated body and the Dark Abomination turning back, carrying its bloody pillar-sword.
‘The person I could have questioned is dead…’
That dead man was very likely the owner of this villa, the mastermind behind this summoning of Dark Abominations.
On his way here, Su Chen had also received relevant information.
Perhaps he knew where Su Xuan was? But now, it seemed he was too late.
A flash of his blade, and the pouncing Moon-rank Abomination was sliced in half mid-air.
Su Chen delivered two kicks, sending the corpse flying to prevent the sleeping beauty on his back from being tainted by the filthy bodily fluids.
After searching for a long time, there was still no sign of his little brother in this area.
Su Chen had to admit that his brother was not in this villa.
“Mmm~”
The girl on his back murmured in her sleep, seeming to say something.
“Big… bro… Su Xuan is… here…”
The voice was too soft.
Even though it was right next to Su Chen’s ear, he could barely hear her.
‘Has she seen Su Xuan? Or does she know Su Xuan?’
Of course, Su Chen didn’t immediately connect this stunningly beautiful girl with his own aloof little brother.
After all, the difference in gender ruled out the possibility of such an association.
But her sleep-talking seemed to offer Su Chen an opportunity.
Once she woke up, he should be able to find out Su Xuan’s whereabouts.
The battle outside was still raging fiercely.
For the cultists, their outdated information meant they didn’t know that the god they were waiting for had already been cleaned up by Su Chen alone.
Their leaders were either dead or had fled.
They were now fish in a barrel, with no way out.
“Mmm… hmm~~”
The beauty on his back frowned, showing signs of waking up.
Seeing that she was about to awaken, Su Chen decided not to go outside to ask questions.
He gently placed her on a sofa and waited for her to wake up.
