Chapter 51: Sharing a Bed

The pajamas were loose. A few sizes smaller wouldn’t matter. Shen Zheming’s comment clearly referred to the black shorts hanging on the rack.

The entire apartment fell silent.

The bathroom’s heater light was on. The space felt a bit cramped for two boys. Lu Shi’s field of vision was filled with Shen Zheming.

Hearing that, he almost instinctively glanced down at Shen Zheming’s lower body.

From the first night at the resort, Lu Shi had already seen it. Shen Zheming had a great physique, the kind that looked impressive without clothes but didn’t appear bulky when dressed.

His back was lean and firm, every inch of muscle perfectly proportioned, with smooth lines. He was a walking clothes hanger.

An S-class Alpha’s hardware was certainly above average. He just couldn’t verify it.

A voice came abruptly from the bathroom: “Where are you looking?”

It was calm.

Lu Shi’s heart skipped a beat. He suddenly snapped back to reality.

He realized he had been staring at Shen Zheming’s pants for a while.

In an instant, his entire back felt like it was on fire, heat forcing out a thin layer of sweat. The tips of his ears flushed red, and the blush spread downward to his face and neck.

“No, I wasn’t looking at anything…”

Lu Shi choked on his words, panic flickering in his eyes.

He grabbed the clothes hanging in the bathroom. “These aren’t for you. You shower first. I’ll go to your place to get your clothes.”

After saying that, he quickly clutched the clothes and turned around. He was so eager to get out that he almost bumped into the bathroom door.

Suddenly, his wrist was grabbed from behind.

Shen Zheming said in a low voice, “Don’t go.”

“Huh? Why?” Lu Shi’s gaze flickered as he tried to hide his embarrassment. “Your place isn’t far.”

Shen Zheming’s lips moved. “Let Er Bai Wu call a delivery service to bring them. It’s cold outside at night.”

[Ding: Blacklist removed, reconnecting…]

Er Bai Wu had already returned to its charging dock to rest. In the empty room, it was forced to turn on, and a line of green text appeared on its screen.

Then, Shen Zheming reconnected the link with it.

“Er Bai Wu.”

Shen Zheming called.

Er Bai Wu crouched in its charging dock without responding, pretending it had malfunctioned.

“If you don’t get up, I’ll go back tomorrow and pull the main switch, so you can’t charge for three days.”

Er Bai Wu: “…”

This was the face of capital. Disgusting.

The robot had no choice but to slide out of its charging dock, and with a cold voice, it covered for itself: “The signal was a bit poor just now. I didn’t hear you clearly. Please say it again.”

Shen Zheming ordered it to get a change of clothes from the walk-in closet. After thinking for a moment, he also had it find Alpha suppressants and blocker patches in the drawer.

“Are you in your rut again?”

For some reason, Shen Zheming detected a hint of anticipation in Er Bai Wu’s almost unchanged voice.

The robot didn’t understand why Alphas had ruts, nor what a rut really was. But it knew that during those days, Shen Zheming wasn’t home!

Shen Zheming mercilessly crushed its expectations, even cruelly reminding it: “No. You’ll see me tomorrow.”

The distance wasn’t far, and the delivery came quickly.

After showering, Shen Zheming gave himself a suppressant injection in the bathroom.

Coming upstairs, Lu Shi had already made the bed. He had used chairs to widen the bed by a few dozen centimeters, and placed two long bolster pillows in the middle as a boundary.

Fortunately, the quilt was two meters long, so they should manage if they squeezed.

Lu Shi only fully recovered from the earlier incident after his shower.

He had specifically changed his underwear. The pair that Shen Zheming had seen in the bathroom was stuffed into the back of his wardrobe.

Lu Shi patted the pillow. “Don’t worry, Shen Ge. I sleep well. I won’t crowd you or do anything to you.”

Shen Zheming watched him silently as he lazily crawled under the covers. After a few seconds, he said, “I think that line suits me better.”

He really didn’t know how Lu Shi had managed to grow up like this.

Maybe back in Ning County, he had always hidden his true gender and hadn’t taken s*x education classes like other Omegas. That was why he was so unguarded around Alphas.

If Lu Shi knew what Shen Zheming was thinking, he would definitely argue.

Actually, he wasn’t unguarded around Alphas. He trusted Shen Zheming, and had simply let down his defenses for him.

He had already stayed at Shen Zheming’s place so many times. If Shen Zheming wanted to do anything, it would have happened long ago.

Besides, he looked like this, so scrawny, completely the opposite of Shen Zheming’s type.

To be safe and avoid catching a cold, Lu Shi turned up the air conditioning a few degrees.

Since he could remember, he had never shared a bed with someone like this, let alone under the same quilt.

When he stayed overnight at Shen Zheming’s place, even though they were under the same roof, there were still two bedroom doors between them.

When Lu Shi came back, he was hungry and tired. Now that he had eaten and his stomach wasn’t empty, he had lain down but couldn’t sleep.

On the silent second floor, Shen Zheming heard the sound of tossing and turning beside him. The bed vibrated slightly with the movements.

“Worried about your first livestream not going well?”

Shen Zheming’s voice came from the darkness.

Lu Shi lay on his back, one arm under his head, staring at the ceiling. “Of course not. If I weren’t confident, I wouldn’t have said it. I was just thinking about how many times I should make Sun Sirui call me dad later.”

Lu Shi paused. “Shen Ge, how many times do you want him to call?”

Shen Zheming said calmly, “I don’t have a son like that.”

This sentence somehow hit Lu Shi’s funny bone. He couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. “There are standards to be your son?”

Then naturally, he thought of something and said half-jokingly, “Shen Ge, if you have a kid in the future, do you prefer a son or a daughter?”

His eyes, fully adjusted to the darkness, glanced sideways. He saw Lu Shi couldn’t sleep and was chattering away on his own.

“I guess you’d like a daughter, because daughters are cuter…”

Shen Zheming’s eyelid twitched. He interrupted him, “I don’t think we should be talking about this right now.”

Lu Shi stopped talking.

True. This kind of question should be discussed with someone you’re going to marry.

After a long while, Lu Shi finally fell asleep.

The sound of steady, long breaths came from beside him. Shen Zheming closed his eyes, but his mind was wide awake.

Someone’s claim of sleeping well had zero credibility.

He had only just fallen asleep for a short while when Shen Zheming felt something leaning closer.

The bolster pillows in the middle of the bed arched the quilt, and cold air always seeped through the gaps.

An Alpha’s body temperature was higher. In winter, he was like a walking heater, radiating warmth under the covers. Lu Shi’s upper body instinctively sought the heat source, burying his head in the bolster pillows.

As for his lower body, he lay at an angle, leaving half of his leg outside.

Shen Zheming opened his eyes, which held no trace of sleepiness, and quietly gazed at the sleeping face beside him.

Soft hair, carrying the fragrance of shampoo, was tangled in the pillow. His eyelashes drooped docilely. The usual tense aura around him had completely dissipated.

A moment later, Shen Zheming lifted the blanket and covered his exposed calf.

Then, after thinking, he removed the two useless bolster pillows that were instead letting cold air in.

He thought this would make the bed warmer and more comfortable. Instead, the person next to him couldn’t lean against the pillows anymore and began to move restlessly, changing positions several times in less than a minute.

A subtle, unassuming minty scent drifted into his nose, cool and refreshing.

Shen Zheming felt his body temperature fluctuating with Lu Shi’s restless movements.

After letting him fuss for a while, Shen Zheming decided to stop him.

But when he drew closer, he realized Lu Shi’s eyelashes were trembling slightly, his breathing was uneven, and his brows were slightly furrowed.

So his restlessness was because he was having a nightmare.

His heart felt like it had been pricked by a twig.

A faint scent of camellia overflowed, carrying a calming signal.

Shen Zheming’s throat moved slightly. He turned sideways and pulled the person closer, imprisoning the restless limbs in his embrace.

Lu Shi was stirred by the movement and woke up a bit.

He didn’t open his eyes. He only felt himself pressed against a heat source, surrounded by reassuring pheromones, like a wounded bird finally breaking free and finding a home, quietly nestled in a warm nest.

His hair seemed to be threaded by fingers, slowly smoothed. Just as his scalp felt a slight tingle, it was rubbed.

In a daze, a soft sigh fell in his ear.

“It’s okay. Go to sleep.”
