Chapter 51: The Customer Service Palu’s New Power and a Hostile Encounter

Zhou Ruoyu silently repackaged both the watch and the greeting card. She then carefully put away the gift box, taking the opportunity to rearrange some items in her home. This was a precaution, just in case Gu Xue ever bothered her at her doorstep again, or even broke in, and tried to use this as leverage.

Then again, if Gu Xue truly resorted to illegal trespassing, shouldn’t her primary concern be calling the police?

Zhou Ruoyu pondered this for a moment, chin in hand. Ultimately, she still felt a touch of worry. Of course, her main concern remained whether Gu Xue would continue to harass her in the future.

For now, however, she probably didn’t need to fret too much. After all, until she reverted to her original form, her ex-girlfriend could search the entire world and still wouldn’t find her.

After a long while, the black-haired, long-haired loli scratched her head. Noticing the late hour, she was about to wash up and go to bed when, suddenly, the long-unheard voice of the impish system prompt echoed in her ears.

[Ding-dong~! Congratulations, Trash-chan! You have once again successfully followed and executed my advice, taking a significant step towards becoming a successful individual! Reward: 5000 Success Points, and the ‘Top-tier Communication Skill: As long as Trash-chan speaks, the other party will definitely want to listen!’ ability!]

“Oh… ho?”

Upon hearing the reward details, Zhou Ruoyu’s eyes immediately lit up. A mischievous, ‘amused’ loli smile spread across her face.

‘Hiss… eh heh heh, this newly acquired golden finger feels incredibly powerful, doesn’t it? Most importantly… it’ll be incredibly useful for my customer service Palu job!’

Her biggest fear during her daily work was callers picking up, listening for two sentences, and then hanging up without a word. Such calls didn’t count as valid calls for Dragon Wing Company and merely wasted her time. Too many of these invalid calls would make her business appear unskilled.

Yet, this was largely a matter of luck. A salesperson couldn’t convey their purpose in just two sentences. Patient and polite individuals might listen a bit longer, but impatient ones would simply hang up.

Moreover, if the other party wanted to keep listening, they probably wouldn’t resort to insults, right?

‘Ah, typically, when customers cursed at me, it was a precursor to hanging up. They’d usually disconnect right after, fearing I’d curse back… though I’d never actually do that, as a complaint would be far worse.’

But now, with this ability, her two major problems were solved! Coupled with Gu Jiachen’s information, the young girl’s confidence soared. She quickly pulled out her phone, found the data, and began studying it late into the night!

Finally…

That night, Customer Service Xiangzi—no, wait—Zhou Ruoyu, had mastered her customer service divine skill—to perfection!

****

Even so, the next day still required her to go to the company and work as a customer service Palu.

It was Monday, the first Monday after her first weekend since entering the workforce, and Zhou Ruoyu was utterly exhausted at her workstation. At this moment, she finally understood the saying, ‘Monday, Monday, people want to die.’ She yearned intensely for the days she spent lounging at home on Saturday and Sunday.

Even being teased by Gu Jiachen was better than suffering exploitation at her workstation in her current form! Damn it…

‘What should I do? I don’t want to work at Dragon Wing anymore. Maybe I should beg Gu Jiachen to get me into Chensi, boo-hoo… Or, should I just become a full-time kept woman?’

‘Ah, ah, ah, no, no! What terrifying thoughts are surfacing in my mind?’

Zhou Ruoyu quickly shook her head, then promptly opened the computer at her workstation, picked up the desk phone’s receiver, and began her intense work!

However, just as Zhou Ruoyu had made only a few calls, the black-haired, long-haired loli suddenly felt a strange gaze. Her colleagues around her were all looking in her direction with subtle expressions.

Zhou Ruoyu immediately felt a wave of discomfort. She spun around abruptly and saw a golden-haired woman standing behind her, a cold smirk on her face.

‘Uh… Liu, Liu Ruyan…’

Upon seeing the newcomer, Zhou Ruoyu’s heart sank with a sense of exasperation. Knowing that this person meant trouble, she merely glanced at her, then turned back to her work, acting as if the woman didn’t exist.

Unexpectedly, the young girl’s blatant disregard only angered the petty team leader. Liu Ruyan’s brow furrowed, and she slapped the girl’s shoulder heavily. Her voice, dripping with sarcasm, was a direct taunt:

“Oh, isn’t this our adorable idol, Little Ruoyu, the most popular member of Team Nine? Why are you at the office so early today? Hmph… such hard work, starting so early. It seems… you’re truly terrified of being at the bottom of the performance rankings this week, aren’t you?”

These words, saturated with passive aggression, immediately drew the attention of the entire customer service department. Many colleagues witnessing the scene began to whisper amongst themselves:

“What’s going on? What did the new kid do to offend Team Leader Liu?”

“It must be about that time she caught her sleeping… Good heavens, coming to cause trouble so early on a Monday morning. How deep must their feud be?”

“This is going to be terrible. Team Leader Liu might not be good at other things, but she has a pretty good relationship with the manager. The poor kid is probably going to be bullied until she leaves.”

“How could a newbie have great performance? Sigh, this is really bad, really bad~”

“It’s her own lack of ability, isn’t it? Heh, isn’t what Sister Ruyan said true? She shows no respect to her seniors—that’s impolite! How can someone like that be a good customer service representative~”

It was clear that the last speaker was most likely one of Liu Ruyan’s close friends. Zhou Ruoyu listened to the remarks and let out a cold, disdainful chuckle. ‘Fine, if they say I don’t respect my seniors, then I’ll just lean into that persona.’

So, the black-haired, long-haired loli didn’t even turn her head, her gaze fixed on the computer screen in front of her. She calmly replied to the person behind her:

“Thank you for your concern, Team Leader. However, I simply arrived at the company at the regulated time. I punched in right on the dot. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘so early.’ Haven’t most people already arrived?”

“Hmph, well, fine…” Liu Ruyan watched the young girl’s unmoving back in silence, then spoke in a slightly annoyed tone:

“There’s nothing to be done, is there? After all… heh, I thought that as a little idol, Zhou Ruoyu, you’d spend at least an hour getting ready before leaving for work. So… being an hour late would be quite normal, wouldn’t it? It certainly shows how anxious you are…”

“Uh… I apologize, but I don’t wear makeup. I even go out barefaced most of the time. I can’t even tell the difference between lipstick shades, Team Leader. Could you please tell me how long it takes you to apply all that heavy makeup on your face?”

“You!”

Faced with Zhou Ruoyu’s retort, Liu Ruyan grew even more enraged for a moment. However, after a brief pause, she unexpectedly maintained her composure. Crossing her arms, she let out a cold laugh and spoke:

“Well… I think you’ve misunderstood something, Zhou Ruoyu. I think we can actually make things less tense between us~”
