Chapter 51: The Modified Dragon’s Fury

Kabasiji’s death brought no joy to those still alive.

Firstly, the fellow was utterly fearless of death; should they ultimately fail to capture Azure Dragon, he would simply resurrect and win the entire game.

Secondly, his demise was utterly irrelevant to the others.

Their immediate threat was the now-magnificent “Azure Dragon – Modified.”

If they couldn’t withstand its relentless barrage, death would merely be a matter of time.

Xue Hu, meanwhile, quietly consumed potions on the side, her mind racing as she pondered how to contend with this suddenly mutated behemoth.

Tentatively, she hurled her Five-Element Orbs at “Azure Dragon – Modified.”

To her surprise, the Gold-element orb, which should have dealt bonus damage, now only inflicted normal damage.

Conversely, the Water-element orb surprisingly dealt bonus damage.

Furthermore, the Earth, Wood, and Fire element orbs were outright resisted.

‘What was happening?’ she thought.

‘Wasn’t this the Azure Dragon? And wasn’t Azure Dragon Wood-elemental?’

‘Why wasn’t the Gold element dealing bonus damage anymore?’

‘Even if “Azure Dragon – Modified” had somehow become Fire-elemental and was thus countered by Water-element orbs, then Gold-element attacks should be resisted, not deal normal damage. How could it be dealing normal damage?’

“White Tiger, go! Use ‘White Tiger Roar Wave’!”

Yi Ye Zhixia, not one to idly await her fate, immediately shifted from defense to offense, commanding her White Tiger battle pet to charge forward.

The White Tiger battle pet unleashed “White Tiger Roar Wave” once more, but the result was far from ideal.

“Azure Dragon – Modified” lost only a minuscule amount of health, and it was merely normal damage, not bonus damage.

“How could this be… White Tiger can’t even deal damage anymore?”

“Is this thing really that tough?”

Yi Ye Zhixia gazed at the unfolding scene in astonishment.

After the White Tiger battle pet swallowed the broken blade, it moved to the side, attempting to restrain “Azure Dragon – Modified.”

However, “Azure Dragon – Modified”‘s damage output was simply too immense, quickly dispatching the White Tiger battle pet.

“Damn it, I’ll risk it all!”

“Throwing orbs is useless, so I’ll go for a direct brawl!”

Hank, his temper flaring, decided.

The dragon’s breath debuff having just worn off, Hank, still with unreplenished health, clenched his fists and charged forward.

The brass knuckles in Hank’s hands were merely ordinary melee weapons, devoid of any special effects.

Yet, Hank was utterly fed up; feeling this frustrated, he had no choice but to go all out.

As it turned out, this melee attack was not a very wise decision either.

While “Azure Dragon – Modified”‘s defense wasn’t exceptionally high, it was still a boss; without significant power, dealing substantial damage was incredibly difficult.

Hank’s punches landed on “Azure Dragon – Modified” one after another, yet they felt no more effective than a mere tickle.

Its health bar barely budged.

“Azure Dragon – Modified” was not about to stand idly by and let players attack it.

Its attack power far surpassed that of the original Azure Dragon.

With a single swing of its massive claw, it sent Hank flying with a resounding *thwack*.

Hank instantly collapsed to the ground, falling into a ‘Paralysis’ debuff state.

“Azure Dragon – Modified” then slammed the ground again, and a fissure rapidly extended from its claw tip towards Yi Ye Zhixia and Xue Hu, moving with such speed that it caught them completely off guard.

*Crack!*

The fissure reached Yi Ye Zhixia’s feet, and a sharp wooden spike shot out at an angle, piercing straight through her.

Yi Ye Zhixia immediately fell into ‘Coma’ and ‘Bleeding’ debuff states.

Since Yi Ye Zhixia was standing in front of Xue Hu—or perhaps it was Xue Hu who had strategically hidden behind Yi Ye Zhixia—the piercing attack did not harm Xue Hu; Yi Ye Zhixia had, in essence, shielded her from this calamity.

This, however, could not alter Xue Hu’s impending fate.

“Azure Dragon – Modified” let out a roar towards the sky, and countless fireballs rained down upon the ground.

Faced with this overwhelming ‘Fireball Rain,’ Xue Hu had nowhere to hide, left only to stand her ground and await her destiny.

Nina announced two death messages simultaneously this time, indicating that both players had perished at the exact same moment.

The system, however, was slow to announce Xue Hu’s death.

Amidst the desolate wreckage left by “Azure Dragon – Modified”‘s rampage, a white light flared, and within it, an elegant figure emerged.
