Wang Tianming moved with utmost caution, fearing her peculiarity might be discovered by her fellow patients, her father, or anyone else.
With a mere thought, the angelic wings that had unfurled from her back retracted, disappearing back into her body.
In the nightstand drawer lay her bank card, a card Wang Tianming had watched her mother place there herself earlier that day.
She gently pulled open the drawer, a faint luminescence emanating from her hand, and by this subtle light, Wang Tianming quickly located her bank card.
With the bank card now in hand, resolving matters would be significantly simpler.
Wang Tianming wished to leave the hospital discreetly, not wanting anyone to see her in her current form, so she had no choice but to feign normalcy, slowly opening her ward door before slipping out as if nothing were amiss.
Initially, she had considered flying directly out the window, but hospital windows could only open a minuscule crack; even though she had become considerably more slender, it was impossible to squeeze through a gap no larger than an infant’s.
Along the way, no one paid her much mind.
Despite Wang Tianming’s ethereal aura and striking beauty at that moment, it was the dead of night, the light was poor, and most people were thoroughly overcome by sleepiness, so the sight of a lone person passing by was hardly cause for concern.
Having walked out of the hospital entrance with bated breath, Wang Tianming found a secluded corner, and after confirming no one was around, she spread her wings and soared directly into the sky.
Having had previous experience flying in games, Wang Tianming was already well-versed in the art, gracefully flapping her wings as she glided through the air, searching for a 24-hour ATM.
Since it was the middle of the night, hardly a soul was passing by on the streets, and even if someone were, they likely wouldn’t bother looking up at the sky.
At such a late hour, most people still out were hurrying home, making gazing skyward a truly foolish act.
Consequently, almost no one witnessed Wang Tianming flying overhead, meaning no one reported it or captured it on camera.
Of course, “almost no one” implicitly meant “a few individuals” did indeed catch a glimpse.
“W-what the f-f*ck, an a-angel?!” Zhang Da was precisely the kind of ‘wise guy’ who would be strolling around late at night, inexplicably staring at the sky.
Naturally, in front of his subordinates, he wouldn’t be considered a ‘younger brother’ (TL Note: A term often used to denote someone inexperienced or foolish).
And just like that, some things happen by such coincidences; two originally unrelated individuals found themselves encountering each other due to this chance event.
“Brother Zhang, what’s wrong? What happened?” His subordinates, startled by Zhang Da’s sudden shout, quickly stepped forward and asked, “Brother Zhang, have you taken a fancy to someone’s daughter?”
“N-no, it’s not that, an a-angel! Over there, flying!” Zhang Da pointed excitedly at a spot in the sky, shouting with fervor, “Holy shit, I never thought I’d actually see an angel! This isn’t a movie shoot, absolutely not! Do superpowers and magic truly exist in this world?!”
“Where? Brother Zhang, why can’t I see it? Are you… are you perhaps too drunk?” One of the subordinates quickly looked up in the direction Zhang Da was pointing, but there was nothing there save for a few sparse stars.
“Bullshit! Would I… would I be mistaken?! You punk, how dare you… dare you question me?!” Zhang Da slapped the questioning subordinate to the ground, then pointed again, declaring, “I said… I said it’s there, so it’s there! You… all of you, open your eyes and look closely, isn’t that… Eh? W-where did the angel go?”
“Brother Zhang, you truly are too drunk; let’s hurry back and get some rest!” The beaten subordinate, still loyal, did not resent the slap.
Instead, he clutched his face and earnestly pleaded, “There’s no such thing as angels in this world; those are all just stories!”
“Damn it, you… are you implying I’m an idiot?!” Although Zhang Da had drunk a considerable amount and his speech was slurred, his reaction was surprisingly quick.
However, this time he did not continue to strike his subordinate; instead, he began to search frantically all around him, “Eh? W-where did that angel just go? W-where on earth did it hide?”
“Brother Zhang, watch out, a car!” Ignoring his subordinates’ pleas, Zhang Da stumbled into the road while frantically searching for the angel.
Just then, a van happened to be passing by.
Although the driver braked in time, the vehicle still collided with Zhang Da.
“Bang!” “Brother Zhang!” A clamor of voices erupted from behind and below.
Wang Tianming heard the commotion and glanced backward, sensing an accident had occurred there.
However, to avoid exposing herself, Wang Tianming decided against joining the spectacle.
Conveniently, an ATM was not far off, so she flew directly towards it and landed by its entrance.
Given that ATM machines are typically surrounded by surveillance cameras, Wang Tianming first retracted her wings.
Only after confirming that her entire appearance was indistinguishable from an ordinary person did she step within the monitoring range.
She walked briskly to the ATM with her head down, then skillfully inserted her card, deposited money, retrieved her card, and finally, walked out with her head still lowered.
Her next task was to return the way she came.
On her journey back, she again spotted the scene of the earlier accident, now surrounded by a crowd of people, and it appeared a hospital ambulance had arrived.
A flicker of worry crossed her mind that her father might suddenly awaken and find her absent from her bed.
Wang Tianming, therefore, accelerated her flight, rushing back to the hospital at top speed.
Retracting her wings, she quietly returned to her ward and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing her father and roommate still sound asleep.
She stealthily placed the bank card back into the drawer, then gently climbed onto her bed, wrapping the traction device around her right leg.
Having completed all this, Wang Tianming lay flat on the bed, pulled up her covers, and then silently thought, ‘release transformation.’
The warm current within her body rapidly receded, finally converging into the palm of her right hand, and Wang Tianming once again felt the sting of pain.
The “Angel’s Seed” had vanished from sight, yet Wang Tianming knew it had merely concealed itself within the palm of her right hand, ready to transform her back into an angel with just another thought.
