Join the ServerLi Xiao stared at him, his eyes unable to hide his smugness and tenderness. He leaned close to Jiang Yu, lowered his voice, and mimicked Jiang Qing’s tone:
“She said… ‘Don’t be a third wheel.’ She told us to enjoy our ‘private time.'”
“…”
Jiang Yu’s face flushed red at a visible speed, even his neck turning crimson.
He was too embarrassed to speak, and finally managed to choke out:
“…Kids say the darndest things.”
“I think your sister is pretty spot-on.”
Li Xiao smiled like a cat that got the cream, reached out to ruffle Jiang Yu’s hair, then turned to arrange for the driver.
He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and called the driver, giving detailed instructions about Jiang Qing’s pickup time, location, and precautions—especially emphasizing that he must escort her upstairs, confirm the door was locked, and only then leave.
The driver respectfully acknowledged on the other end.
After hanging up, Li Xiao also sent Jiang Qing’s phone number to the driver.
Having done all that, he returned to Jiang Yu’s side.
Jiang Yu was still standing there, the flush not yet faded from his face. He felt a bit uncomfortable looking at the bustling yet unfamiliar night scene outside the window.
“Thanks.”
He said softly.
Li Xiao walked up to him, reached out, and gently pinched his earlobe—it was still burning hot.
“Still being so polite with me?”
His fingers slid down, lifting Jiang Yu’s chin to make him look at himself, his eyes deep:
“Jiang Yu, doing good things for you and the people you care about is something I do willingly, even something I long for. So you never have to thank me.”
Jiang Yu looked at his handsome face so close, at the undisguised sincerity and passion in his eyes. His heart felt as if wrapped in warm tidal water, aching and swelling.
He lowered his eyelashes and softly hummed in agreement.
Li Xiao, seeing how obedient he looked, felt his heart swell with affection. He almost wanted to lower his head right then and kiss those slightly pursed, glistening lips.
But he held back.
No rush.
Li Xiao released Jiang Yu’s chin and instead took his left hand:
“Let me show you the bedroom.”
Holding Jiang Yu’s left hand, he crossed the spacious living room and headed toward the master bedroom.
At the end of the hallway was a dark gray door.
The moment Li Xiao pushed it open, motion-sensor lights automatically turned on, casting warm yellow light across the entire room.
The master bedroom was large, continuing the apartment’s overall minimalist style.
A wide dark gray fabric bed dominated the center, with high-end light gray velvet bedding that looked soft and comfortable.
A full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows offered a night view of the city. The curtains were double-layered: a layer of white sheer and a layer of blackout fabric.
The room had its own walk-in closet and bathroom, both clean and tidy.
Jiang Yu stood at the door, stunned for a moment, then frowned:
“This is the master bedroom? I’ll just sleep in the guest room.”
He turned around, about to go find the guest room.
Li Xiao grabbed his hand, stopping him:
“You’re sleeping here.”
“No.”
Jiang Yu shook his head, his tone serious:
“I’m a guest. I can’t take the master bedroom. You sleep in the master bedroom; I’ll take the guest room.”
“Guest?”
Li Xiao raised an eyebrow, stepped forward, and trapped Jiang Yu between himself and the doorframe:
“Who said you’re a guest?”
Jiang Yu’s ears grew hot at his sudden proximity. He pressed his left hand against Li Xiao’s chest:
“If not a guest, then what?”
“You are…”
Li Xiao deliberately dragged out his words, leaning in close until their breaths mingled:
“The person at the tip of my heart.”
Jiang Yu’s face instantly turned crimson, his eyelashes trembling:
“…You’re all talk.”
“I’m serious.”
Li Xiao smiled, his fingers lightly brushing Jiang Yu’s burning cheek:
“But since you’re so ‘bothered’…”
He paused, a sly glint flashing in his eyes:
“Then how about we both sleep in the master bedroom? The bed is big enough anyway.”
Jiang Yu’s eyes snapped open wide to glare at him, the look clearly saying “in your dreams,” his face even redder:
“Don’t even think about it.”
Li Xiao was amused by his flustered and wary expression, letting out a low laugh that vibrated in his chest:
“Just kidding. Look how scared you got.”
He stepped back, his tone turning serious, but the smile still lingering in his eyes:
“You’re the patient; you need the best rest environment, so the master bedroom is yours. I’m the ‘nurse’ here to accompany you during your recovery; I’ll sleep in the guest room.”
Jiang Yu wanted to say something more, but Li Xiao was already leading him into the room, heading straight to the walk-in closet.
He pushed open the closet door, revealing a wall of wardrobes.
Li Xiao pulled open one of the doors.
Jiang Yu was stunned.
The closet was full of clothes.
Casual cashmere sweaters, soft cotton T-shirts, comfortable loungewear, and even a few well-tailored shirts and pants.
The colors were mainly light gray, cream white, and dark blue—all simple styles Jiang Yu usually wore.
The drawers below were half-open, revealing neatly folded underwear and socks, brand new with tags still attached.
“These…”
Jiang Yu’s voice felt dry.
“Prepared for you.”
Li Xiao’s tone was natural, as if it were the most ordinary thing:
“From inside out, I got several sets. I estimated the sizes based on the clothes you wore before; they should fit.”
He paused, then took out a set of dark gray pajamas from the closet, soft to the touch:
“Wear these tonight. The fabric is comfortable.”
Jiang Yu looked at the pajamas, then at the full closet, his heart swelling and a little panicked.
Li Xiao had even thought of all this.
“When… when did you prepare all this?”
Jiang Yu’s voice was very soft.
“I started preparing a long time ago.”
Li Xiao draped the pajamas over his arm, turned to look at Jiang Yu, his eyes tender:
“I figured I’d bring you over sooner or later, so I got everything ready ahead of time.”
He gestured to the closet as he spoke:
“See, the clothes are all put away. Moving them around again would be too much trouble. So just settle in the master bedroom, okay?”
Jiang Yu bit his lip.
He looked at the obviously carefully chosen clothes, then at the tenderness in Li Xiao’s eyes, and finally nodded slightly.
“…Okay.”
Li Xiao smiled, a bright, dazzling smile.
He reached out and ruffled Jiang Yu’s hair:
“Good boy.”
Then he turned and headed toward the bathroom:
“Dinner will be delivered soon. Take a shower and change first. I’ll help you run the water. Your right hand can’t get wet, so be careful.”
Jiang Yu followed him into the bathroom.
The bathroom was spacious, with a separated wet and dry area and a sizable bathtub.
Li Xiao was bending over, adjusting the water temperature. The sound of rushing water was especially clear in the quiet room.
He had rolled up his sweater sleeves, revealing the smooth lines of his forearms.
His profile, under the warm bathroom light, was sharply defined. His eyelashes lowered as he focused on the water level in the tub.
This scene… had an indescribable domestic feel.
Jiang Yu leaned against the doorframe, watching his back, his heartbeat inexplicably quickening.
“The water temperature is just right.”
Li Xiao straightened up and turned to look at Jiang Yu:
“There’s a non-slip mat by the tub, and the handrail is here. Do you need help?”
