As Duan Yulan finished off the last of the zombies, a bored Qiao Xia couldn’t suppress his curiosity. Realizing it was just the two of them, he decided to ask directly, hoping for an answer.
Just like the previous night on the rooftop, Duan Yulan had provided him with a wealth of useful information.
“I need to kill someone.”
Upon hearing Qiao Xia’s question, Duan Yulan turned her head to glance at him. After only a brief hesitation, she immediately revealed the purpose of their trip to the cafeteria.
Duan Yulan had survived ten years in the apocalypse, her heart long since hardened to iron. Only in the presence of Qiao Xia, their mutual support fostering a sliver of warmth, did she ever deviate from her ruthless, unfeeling nature.

“Mm, indeed, such a person cannot be allowed to live. With the current chaotic situation, if he gets the chance, he’ll undoubtedly thrive in his evil deeds.”
Duan Yulan’s words were not without effect; at the very least, they provided a reason for the killing, prompting Qiao Xia to nod in understanding.
