“Ye Qiu, since you pity these students so much, go die in their stead now! I’m sure these students will be incredibly grateful to you, thinking you’re truly a good teacher.”
Qiao Xia and Duan Yulan stood near the cafeteria. Despite numerous obstructions in their surroundings, those by the second-floor window of the cafeteria couldn’t spot them. However, Qiao Xia and Duan Yulan had a clear view of the events unfolding upstairs.
The unmasked sounds further clarified the grim situation to Qiao Xia.
Earlier, on the rooftop, Li Lin Guan had mentioned that the school teachers had all sought refuge in the cafeteria. Wang Su and the others who had stealthily left the previous night were, in fact, heading to join these teachers.
However, upon hearing the wretched conversation now, Qiao Xia seriously doubted if ‘seeking refuge’ was the appropriate term to use.
‘Walking to their deaths’ seemed far more fitting.
Or perhaps, ‘traveling a thousand li just to deliver one’s head on a platter.’
Regarding the timeless topic of human nature, Qiao Xia had never naively believed that everyone was good, nor did he think everyone was inherently evil.
People possessed dual natures, merely adept at disguise.
Once personal interests were at stake, their masks would swiftly be torn away, revealing their true colors.
“You bastards! Those students don’t deserve to die! Why are you treating them like this? You were once teachers, educating and nurturing, but now each of you has transformed into a hideous monster. You will surely descend to hell when you die!”
“Hahaha, this *is* hell now; there’s no need to wait for death! Anyway, living one more day is a blessing. We used to have a good relationship, and I even hoped we could survive together. But why must your temper be so stubborn?
Even if you saved those students, if the red-eyed lunatics truly broke in, everyone would die. Why not sacrifice a few students to secure our safety instead?”
The conversation on the cafeteria’s second floor continued. However, a person, bound hand and foot, had already been pushed halfway out of the window.
Yet, the bound individual did not immediately fall.
It was like a cat toying with a mouse, needing to play with its prey before delivering the fatal blow.
“These are all just excuses you’ve concocted! If I had the ability, I would kill every single one of you!”
Despite half his body being pushed out the window, Ye Qiu refused to succumb to their threats. He continued to adhere to his principles.
He could not stand by and watch his students be harmed!
These damned individuals no longer deserved to be called teachers!
“That’s only if you *had* the ability. Now, bound up like a zongzi, who could you possibly kill? Don’t blame me, though; it’s truly because you’re too inflexible. I hope in your next life, you won’t be so obstinate!
Sometimes, people really need to learn to look forward.”
Ye Qiu’s impotent rage earned a cold snort from the teacher speaking to him, who then decided against further torment.
For such a stubborn fellow, more words were useless; it was better for him to die quickly.
There were still many ‘good things’ waiting in the cafeteria. Ye Qiu simply didn’t understand how to enjoy life; he was utterly clueless.
What did being a teacher matter?
Everyone was human, possessing all seven emotions and six desires. Now, the strong reigned supreme; those with ability survived. It was simply unfortunate that those students were too weak, destined to be exploited.
However, successfully binding Ye Qiu was largely thanks to a student named Liu Liming, whose clever mind proved invaluable.
This act served as his ‘certificate of submission,’ allowing Liu Liming to quickly establish himself in the cafeteria and avoid becoming discarded cannon fodder.
Just as this teacher was about to push Ye Qiu down, Duan Yulan, standing beside Qiao Xia, suddenly darkened. Through this dreadful conversation, she recalled events from her previous life.
Back then, she had wondered why these teachers had become so repulsive, with not a single one possessing a conscience.
It turned out the conscientious teachers had already been killed by them.
Given this, Duan Yulan had no intention of letting them have their way. This teacher named Ye Qiu, she *had* to save him!
With this thought, Duan Yulan swiftly crushed the jade ring on her index finger. Immediately, a ball of blue light condensed before her, and as Duan Yulan reached out, a short crossbow crafted from fine iron instantly appeared in her hand.
Of course, there were also matching short arrows, which Duan Yulan quickly tucked into her waistband.
Then, with serious eyes, Duan Yulan raised her arm, aimed the crossbow at the second-floor window of the cafeteria, and swiftly locked onto her target.
In the next second, the short arrow shot out, striking the forehead of the teacher who intended to push Ye Qiu.
It was precise and flawless.
As if she had shot countless times.
However, precisely because it hit the target so accurately, Ye Qiu, who had been hanging halfway out the window, plummeted directly from the window with this sudden turn of events.
The zombies that had been lurking near the cafeteria were already drawn by the noise. Even if the bound Ye Qiu wasn’t killed by the fall, he would eventually be torn apart by the zombies or transformed into one of them.
Just as Ye Qiu despairingly closed his eyes, the anticipated pain did not materialize. When he opened his eyes in confusion, Duan Yulan had already thrown him to the ground and, turning, drew the Tang sword from her waist, commencing a one-sided slaughter.
Then, before Ye Qiu could fully recover, the ropes binding him were severed by Duan Yulan, restoring his freedom.
This process was as smooth as flowing water, seamless and fluid, leaving the rescued Ye Qiu with a bewildered expression, a ‘Who am I, where am I, what am I doing?’ look, utterly clueless as to what had transpired.
Just moments ago, he had prepared himself for death, only to be suddenly rescued.
Such dramatic shifts severely tested one’s heart’s endurance.
And this female student’s method of killing was incredibly skilled; it was truly jaw-dropping!
Furthermore, a clear-faced male student slowly approached, seemingly oblivious to the red-eyed lunatics around him, showing not a hint of fear.
‘Are students nowadays all this formidable?’
“Qiao Xia, wait outside. I’ll be back soon.”
“Alright.”
Then, as Qiao Xia reached out to help the bewildered Ye Qiu off the ground, Duan Yulan had already annihilated all the zombies.
However, she did not sheathe her Tang sword, nor did she even shake off the bloodstains from its blade. After speaking to Qiao Xia, she walked directly towards the cafeteria’s main entrance.
With a powerful kick that shattered the door’s glass, Duan Yulan swiftly flashed inside, ready to deal with her enemies.
Qiao Xia, meanwhile, had no intention of following to watch the spectacle. After helping Ye Qiu steady himself, he released him and began contemplating the mysteries of the universe.
‘Duan Yulan, who exactly is she?!
How is she like Doraemon, seemingly possessing an interdimensional pocket, able to pull out anything at will?’
