Once the hammering was complete, it was time for the final step.
The sword’s body was heated once more, then the final-grade enchanting material was sprinkled upon it—in this instance, Thunder Dragon eggshell.
Each enchanting material required a specific temperature to fuse with the weapon, with higher-grade materials demanding proportionally higher temperatures.
Lesser weapons, however, could not withstand such extreme heat.
The materials used in their creation possessed poor thermal resistance; heating them to excessive temperatures would cause the weapon to melt into slag, rendering all efforts futile.
The Thunder Dragon eggshell required a fusion temperature of 1385 degrees, the absolute maximum a low-grade weapon could endure.
This was because the Thunder Dragon was a Level 45 BOSS, and Level 45 marked the crucial watershed between the early and mid-early stages of the game.
Crafting equipment below Level 45 only necessitated Tier 1 wrought iron and refined steel, whereas Level 45 to 60 required Tier 2, with each subsequent 15-level tier demanding a higher grade, and so on.
The Thunder Dragon, positioned precisely at the transition between the early and mid-early game, represented the apex of early-game BOSSes.
It was immeasurably stronger than the Red Water Dragon, only succumbing to its ambush because it had just laid its eggs and was in a state of extreme vulnerability.
The Thunder Dragon egg itself was also a Level 45 item, yet due to the Thunder Dragon’s unique nature, this Level 45 item could bestow Level 60 lightning resistance upon its consumer.
Thus, my expectations for the Thunder Dragon eggshell were incredibly high!
I ground the Thunder Dragon eggshell into a fine powder and scattered it over the incandescent sword body, which by now had taken on the nascent form of a finished treasure sword.
The ethereal purple powder slowly merged with the glowing red blade, crackling and spitting as if coating the treasure sword in a layer of deep violet pigment.
However, this pigment swiftly permeated the sword’s interior, no longer merely resting on the surface, but merging flawlessly with the blade itself.
With that, I shut down the forge!
A magical array was then activated to accelerate the cooling process!
****
The grand task was accomplished!
The blade was a cold, silvery-white, yet beneath the sunlight, a faint hint of purple could be discerned, much like the beautiful violet sheen that sometimes shimmered on eyeglass lenses.
Even more satisfying, streaks of striking purple electricity occasionally arced across the sword’s surface!
All in all, its aesthetic appeal was flawless!
Su Yingning would undoubtedly look magnificent wielding it!
Now… it remained to be seen whether it was merely a beautiful facade or a truly formidable weapon, consistent in both appearance and power.
The truth was about to be revealed!
Just as I reached to pick up the sword and examine its attributes, my fingers closing around the hilt, my palm suddenly felt jarringly empty.
?
[Your weapon has attracted the covetous gaze of Space Goblin Thieves. Defeat the Goblins to reclaim your weapon!]
What kind of ludicrous game mechanic was this?!
Was this the fabled Heavenly Tribulation (TL Note: A trial or calamity sent by the heavens, often to cultivators who achieve significant breakthroughs or create powerful artifacts) that legendary artifact refiners experienced after forging an overpowered magic item?!
Having the Heavenly Tribulation delivered by Goblins instantly felt like a significant downgrade in prestige!
And despite possessing the ability to traverse space, they chose to be pathetic weapon thieves with no future?
These Goblins must be deranged!
Five Goblins had spawned in total.
One, positioned furthest from me, stood with both hands raised in a sacrificial pose, seemingly attempting to open a spatial gate.
True enough, a dark portal was slowly unfurling behind it.
Of the remaining four, one carried a pouch from which the sharp edges of numerous weapons and other treasures protruded, including the very weapon I had just forged.
The final three Goblins encircled me, their eyes gleaming menacingly, sworn to prevent my approach at all costs.
They even had a clear division of labor!
It seemed these were seasoned thieves!
I drew the priest’s staff from my waist and swung it, striking one of the Goblins squarely on the head!
“Thwack!”
The Goblin instantly dissolved into a flash of white light, defeated.
So weak… even my basic attack, as a healer, was enough to dispatch them.
Truly pathetic!
Following suit, I swiftly dispatched all three cannon fodder Goblins, then darted towards the one burdened with the bag of treasures.
Upon seeing me approach, that Goblin displayed a remarkably human-like expression of terror.
The next second, its actions made my lips twitch.
With a resounding ‘thump,’ it dropped to its knees, holding the stolen treasure sword aloft with both hands above its head, presenting it obediently.
‘…What a bunch of bullies who prey on the weak and fear the strong,’ I mused, feeling a strange, inexplicable fondness for these creatures.
Then, I simply walked over and swung my staff, ending its existence.
The Goblin vanished in a flash of white light, but its treasure bag remained behind.
The Goblin that had been activating the magical array, though seething with anger, dared do nothing.
It leaped into the portal alone, making its escape.
Yet, before disappearing, it shot me a defiant gesture, as if proclaiming its inevitable return!
I welcomed the prospect wholeheartedly.
I picked up the bag, and a system notification appeared: [You have obtained the Goblin’s Advanced Treasure Pouch.]
‘Advanced… does that mean blue quality?’
[Goblin’s Advanced Treasure Pouch: Contains random crafting materials. Small chance to yield equipment blueprints, special items, or unique materials.]
‘Another cradle of dreams!’ I thought. ‘I love it!’
Speaking of which, it was time to unveil the mystery of my newly forged weapon!
First, I would check its quality!
Blue quality.
‘That’s acceptable!’ I mused. ‘At least it’s not green, white, or gray!’
Even as I tried to console myself, over half of my grand aspirations crumbled in an instant.
Human nature was inherently greedy.
While blue quality was undoubtedly commendable, especially considering the low-grade magic crystals I had incorporated, making it an unexpected delight, my true ambition was to forge a divine artifact!
Such lofty dreams were typical of novice crafters, who often harbored these extravagant hopes until the day they finally realized they were an ‘unlucky chief’ (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘fei qiu,’ referring to someone with persistently bad luck, especially in gacha games or crafting), at which point they would dutifully settle for stability and guaranteed outcomes.
Regardless, blue quality was already exceptional.
As of now, there had been no reports of purple-grade equipment appearing across the entire server, making blue-grade items a rare, top-tier existence.
I truly ought to be grateful.
Next, it was time to scrutinize its attributes!
Even among blue-grade items, there were distinctions in power, along with variations in attribute utility.
If this could turn out to be an overpowered blue-grade item, much like the sword Su Yingning wielded, that would be more than satisfactory!
The attack power of a standard Level 30 blue-grade item typically hovered around 90.
Anything exceeding 100 was considered a premium blue-grade item, according to data provided by a major gaming forum, calculated based on existing low-grade blue equipment and incremental attribute rules.
Attack power, without a doubt, stood as the single most critical attribute for any physical weapon!
Taking a deep breath, I gazed at the weapon’s first attribute, the attack power entry, much like a gambler anticipating their fate.
First Attribute: Physical Attack 230
Oh, hahahahahahaha, a one-shot kill (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘yi fa ru hun,’ referring to a successful attempt on the first try, or hitting a critical success.)!
The European Emperor (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘Ou Huang,’ referring to someone with exceptionally good luck, the opposite of ‘unlucky chief’ or ‘fei qiu’) has arrived!
Could there be a more overpowered attribute than this?!
It surpassed the premium threshold by 2.5 times!
Who else could compare?!
‘Wait… something feels amiss…’
‘What about the second, third, and fourth attributes? Why is there only attack power listed?’
