“Go, Great God Ya Ya! The time has come for you to lead us to prosperity and a comfortable life!” Cannon Fairy exclaimed, brimming with energy.
“Yes, go ahead.” Su Yingning nodded with a gentle smile.
Qingyu’s gaze, too, was filled with eager anticipation as he looked at Su Shunhua.
Such was the joy of gaming: after enduring countless hardships, something even more thrilling always awaited—the opening of a treasure chest.
Reaching inside, one might strike it rich overnight, or perhaps toil in vain, returning empty-handed.
Su Shunhua opened the first chest, and the team’s inventory displayed three pieces of equipment along with a pile of common crafting materials.
To everyone’s delight, all three pieces of equipment were blue-grade.
“Holy crap, three blues! A grand prize!” Cannon Fairy blurted out, her usual refined image completely forgotten in her shock.
In the easy difficulty of the Spider’s Lair, elite monsters dropped a maximum of three items, with blue being the highest possible quality for each; thus, three blue items truly signified a grand prize!
The drops consisted of a weapon, a bracer, and a pair of shoes.
The weapon was a dagger, named [Poison-Quenched Dagger], usable at Level [30], with a physical attack of [51]. It inflicted a poisoning effect on humanoid and beast targets and had an equipment rating of [610].
It was a mid-to-high-tier dagger well-suited for one-on-one PvP. Since Qingyu was the only assassin in the party who could wield a dagger, it was, without question, allocated to him.
The bracer was leather armor, an item named [Wolf Spider Bracers], part of the Wolf Spider leather armor set. Usable at Level [30], it added [7] physical defense and had a special effect: [Enhanced Poison Level and Poison Damage by 1]. Its equipment rating was [750].
As leather armor, only Qingyu, being an assassin, could wear it in the party. Inevitably, this item was also allocated to him.
By this point, the party members’ gazes towards Qingyu, this ‘geared-up lucky dog’ (TL Note: “包车狗” (bāochē gǒu) is a slang term for a player who, through extreme luck or being the only suitable class, receives all the valuable drops from a dungeon run, often to the envy of others), had grown somewhat hostile. However, when Su Shunhua revealed the attributes of the third item, Qingyu immediately broke into a bashful smile, while the others glared at him with gazes that could devour a man.
Unexpectedly, the shoes were also leather armor: [Wolf Spider Boots], usable at Level [30], adding [7] physical defense, and featuring a special effect: [Enhanced Poison Duration by 3 seconds]. Their equipment rating was 730.
“Thanks, everyone, haha~ Oh, you can’t blame me for this!” Qingyu chuckled shyly, then deftly stowed all three pieces of equipment into his inventory.
Cannon Fairy flipped Qingyu the middle finger.
“The next chest! I want staves, staves, staves, staves!”
Although all the items had gone to Qingyu, three blue-grade items still constituted a bountiful harvest for this dungeon run, and the sight was undeniably striking. Consequently, everyone’s expectations soared for the next chest.
“Hehe~” Su Shunhua chuckled, brimming with a sense of accomplishment from personally looting a grand prize, and proceeded to open the next dungeon treasure chest.
Three brilliant blue lights shimmered before everyone’s eyes; once again, three blue-grade items.
“Holy crap! Another grand prize! You’re practically a god! I’ve never seen anyone with luck this good! Please, a staff!”
The continuous stream of blue lights made Su Shunhua’s heart pound faster. He revealed the equipment attributes one by one.
[Wolf Spider Leather Cap] [Wolf Spider Leather Armor] [Wolf Spider Leather Pants]
Three pieces of leather armor.
“Ahahaha, thank you all! Thanks~”
Qingyu laughed like a mischievous child, while the rest of them stared fixedly at him, their faces devoid of expression.
“I have a ‘motherf***ing’ (TL Note: “妈卖批” (māmàipī) is a highly vulgar Chinese curse word, roughly equivalent to ‘motherf***er’ or ‘f*** your mother’) something to say right now… You’ve completed an entire set of gear from this dungeon run, and you haven’t even encountered the boss yet. Honestly, what’s your relationship with the game’s main AI?” Cannon Fairy voiced the question everyone else was silently pondering.
“Ahaha~ ahaha~” Qingyu wore a blissful expression, feigning ignorance with a laugh. “It’s all thanks to Great God Ya Ya’s incredibly lucky hands! Ahaha… ahahahaha…”
“Pfft! That’s rotten luck for us! Next time, I’m doing the looting!” Cannon Fairy retorted with a look of disdain.
“Exactly! Absolutely rotten! Next time, Fairy Sister should do the looting!” Su Yingning chimed in, laughing.
Qingyu’s friend, meanwhile, eyed him with a look reserved for a dog, seemingly contemplating whether to sever their friendship.
Qingyu swiftly equipped the entire set, as if afraid someone might snatch it away. Yet, once he donned the form-fitting black leather armor, he truly resembled an assassin cloaked by the night, appearing quite dashing and eliciting a wave of envy from the others.
Fearing that Su Shunhua might continue his streak and even pull out a full set of accessories for Qingyu, the party agreed that Cannon Fairy would open the next chest, specifically the one from the first boss.
Su Shunhua recalled an old saying: ‘The most agonizing part of a dungeon run isn’t finishing it with nothing but ‘blue skies and white clouds’ (TL Note: “蓝天白云” (lántiān báiyún) is a slang term referring to common, low-quality drops, implying a lack of rare or valuable items), having seen no precious items at all. Rather, it’s seeing countless divine artifacts, only for them all to be ‘rolled away’ by the ‘geared-up lucky dog.’
A sense of fleeting happiness, slipping through his fingertips.

Emerging from the cave, they found themselves in a spacious underground hall, where they would face the Spider’s Lair’s first dungeon boss.
In the center of the underground hall stood a waist-high stone pillar, upon which rested a faintly glowing, eerie green crystal.
To their right, upon entering the hall, lay a dust-covered iron anvil and a rusty iron hammer.
“Later, we’ll grab the crystal, smash it with the hammer, and that’ll summon the first boss,” Cannon Fairy recited, holding up the strategy guide. “The first boss is a spider-goblin hybrid. It spits webs to pull people in, then stabs them with the spikes on its claws. That hit inflicts a deadly poison, causing 500 health loss per second! So, healers must cast Purify immediately to cleanse the poison from teammates!”
“The boss has two major abilities in total. I just covered the first one. Now for the second major ability: when the boss’s health drops below 30%, it will unleash a triple strike, knocking the main tank airborne, and then spray venom across the entire area. This venom must be dodged with a ‘Great Leap’ (TL Note: ‘大跳’ (dàtiào) refers to a high-jump movement ability in the game). Others can ‘Great Leap’ directly when the boss casts its triple strike, but since the main tank is still airborne and hasn’t landed yet, even if they immediately use ‘Thousand Jin Drop’ (TL Note: ‘千斤坠’ (qiānjīn zhuì) is a skill that causes a rapid descent to the ground) to land and then ‘Great Leap,’ they won’t reach sufficient height. Therefore, the main tank will have to tank the venom damage. So, healers must cast Purify in mid-air the instant the boss finishes spraying venom, followed immediately by ‘Thousand Jin Drop’ and a ‘Big Heal’ (TL Note: ‘大奶’ (dànǎi) is slang for a powerful healing spell or a large burst of healing). Did you all understand? Especially you, Great God Ya Ya, as our healer…”
“Just call me Ya Ya,” Su Shunhua interjected.
“Right… Ya Ya, you’re under the most pressure. Everyone else can make mistakes, but you absolutely cannot. So, have you memorized the key points?” Cannon Fairy asked, her tone serious.
While it sounded intricate and challenging, understanding it was not difficult; the sole challenge lay in precise timing and swift on-the-spot reactions.
The boss’s first ability wasn’t particularly concerning, but the second one posed a problem. Due to the unique nature of healing skills in *Pursuit II*, healing spells couldn’t be cast mid-air. While Purify could be, actual healing spells could not. Therefore, Su Shunhua would need to cast Purify, then use ‘Thousand Jin Drop,’ and only then apply a heal to save the main tank’s life.
Su Shunhua nodded, responding with an easy confidence, “Don’t worry, I’ve got the sequence down.”
‘Everyone else might make mistakes, but I won’t.’
“Then… let the battle begin!”
