Chapter 132: The Fox’s Tail

The sudden turn of events caught everyone off guard!

Jiangu assumed his opponent was Dong Jun beside him. He knew the 7 million gold coin deal brokered at the town center between the two factions was merely a show for the freelancers. Jiangu never intended to gift 7 million to the Ten Thousand Souls Hall. The negotiation was nothing but a performance—a script to trick the freelancers into becoming unpaid labor.

The freelancers would never see that money. Neither Sword Sweeping the World nor Ten Thousand Souls Hall would let this boss slip away. Jiangu understood: once the boss was low on health, Ten Thousand Souls Hall would suddenly strike, attacking Sword Sweeping the World to steal the prey. Chaos would erupt, and the 7 million would become a hollow promise. Often, negotiation merely buys a brief truce for a shared goal.

But neither Jiangu nor Dong Jun anticipated this outcome. The infamous Mad Dog guild, Mie Tian, known for its arrogance, had long prepared to be the fisherman. In the end, Sword Sweeping the World, Ten Thousand Souls Hall, and everyone in the temple were mere clams and sandpipers before the fisherman!

“Beauty, stay put and don’t even think about severing your meridians. I have ways to make you comply. Wait obediently until I deal with them, then do what you must.”

Bai Li Mie Tian waved his men to surround me. Behind me, three rows of shield warriors stood ready to charge and knock me into the temple, blocking my escape.

A flawless formation, impeccable.

But with these dogs biting each other, I couldn’t care less.

Even powerhouses like Sword Sweeping the World and Ten Thousand Souls Hall suffered defeat under the absolute numerical disparity.

Yet the elite squads of both guilds displayed their prowess.

“Mie Tian, we’ll meet again!”

Green Giant was too tanky. He charged into the crowd like a human tank, shield raised, tunneling through unstoppable! Countless blades and spells rained on him, but he didn’t flinch, as if he hadn’t taken damage.

Relying on Green Giant’s terrifying push and the joint breakout of Sword Sweeping the World and Ten Thousand Souls Hall, the two guilds carved a bloody path to the window!

The Frost Nova from the mages chilled the survivors’ hearts. But the next second, a curse landed on those ice mages—Damage Chain, replicating all damage taken to other players within ten meters. It was Dong Jun’s ultimate cursed skill as a Shadow Priest!

Light gleams through distance, hope shines through gloom, ears and eyes emerge from dark clouds, thunder descends in wrath! Go! Finisher—Faraday’s Spiral Magnet Railgun!

Boom!

-1804-1804-1804…

Jiangu and Dong Jun proved that the elite squads of the two major guilds were no joke.

I silently tensed. Sword Sweeping the World’s elite team was terrifyingly strong—far beyond what Gunfire Rose could handle now.

The狂暴 (berserk) super tank Green Giant and Jiangu, whose finisher obliterated everything in one shot—just the strength these two revealed sent chills down my spine.

“Chief! There’s a woman hiding behind the temple outside!”

It was Yingning!

“Don’t touch her!”

Bai Li Mie Tian’s eyes flickered. He glanced at me meaningfully, then bared a cruel grin. “Kill her. Avoid complications.”

“I said, don’t touch her!”

These mad dogs wouldn’t stop!

I quickly pulled out my priest staff, cast Moon’s Blessing on Yingning in the team list, then unleashed a Flurry of Snow at Bai Li Mie Tian.

But he raised his shield and, instead of engaging, retreated behind a wall of shield warriors, heading straight for Yingning!

“Chief! She’s strong! She took out several brothers in seconds!”

“Such a spicy babe? Ha! My turn!” Bai Li Mie Tian laughed maniacally, charging at Yingning with his shield.

What followed was blocked by the thick shield wall—no light seeped through. I couldn’t see, couldn’t know.

“I said, don’t touch her!”

Dominion of Earth!

I sprinted toward the shield wall, leaping high to vault over it. But there were three rows. I cleared the first, but the second was closing ranks. I twisted in midair to slip through the gap, but failed—the shields swatted me away like a fly!

The third row advanced, sealing the breach.

Fools! Attack skills can be cast in midair!

“Voice of Seduction!”

Voice of Seduction was an AoE skill, boosted by Dominion of Earth.

Trigger effect! Trigger effect! Trigger effect!

A gap suddenly appeared in the wall of shield warriors in the sky—one player, the one right in front of me, dropped his shield with a dazed look!

Now!

Without the shield barrier, I grabbed that player by the collar, yanked hard, and surged forward!

I stepped on his head, breaking through the airborne shield wall, and saw Yingning surrounded by five players radiating faint purple light, their names blood-red!

Those five weren’t fighting seriously—they toyed with Yingning, using control skills sporadically, forcing her to dodge frantically.

“Ya Ya! Run!” the girl screamed at me desperately.

Distracted by my arrival, Yingning faltered and was hit by Bai Li Mie Tian’s shield, entering a stunned state.

“All of you, back off! Don’t touch her!”

I roared, charging into the melee, but they only harassed Yingning more gleefully.

The Mie Tian guild—I’d heard of them but never considered them a major guild. They didn’t deserve it. They were worse than scum in this game.

All of them were red-named, proud of it. They reveled in PK, needing no reason. They bullied the weak, ganging up on lone players. They did everything despicable, every single day!

They didn’t care about reputation—only their own thrill. The worse their fame, the more satisfied they felt. In their eyes, Second World was merely an outlet for their inner depravity and twisted desires. And there were many such people. The Mie Tian guild had a massive membership—chillingly large!

Like now, they wanted to see a sister’s despair after watching her younger sibling die, and a brother lose all reason, eventually dying miserably at their hands.

They wanted to see rage and helplessness, and the bitterness of being forced to control the boss against one’s will after the sister’s death.

The only thing Bai Li Mie Tian hadn’t expected was that I could break through that seemingly impenetrable three-layer shield wall. But in his eyes, it didn’t matter—Yingning and I were surrounded. Not only had they teleported inside the temple, but their men outside encircled the building, surrounding us and the Sword Sweeping the World members who had just escaped through the window.

Yingning was killed. The five-man elite squad of Mie Tian had ganged up on her 5v1, and by the time I arrived, a dagger had pierced her heart.

Unbelievable. Unacceptable. But it was reality.

Leveling was already grueling at this stage. Yingning had worked so hard, only to lose a level for nothing.

Though I knew it was just a game and she could revive, it still stung.

I forced a smile. Instead of advancing, I stood still, opened the out-of-game menu, and posted a status on my friend circle—a drawing of a little fox tail.

Then I took out paper and pen, drew five little tails.

Bai Li Mie Tian and his men walked over, encircling me, watching curiously as I finished drawing. They seemed disappointed not to see grief or anger on my face.

“What’s wrong?” the red-named assassin sneered. “Is she crazy? Why’s she smiling? Come on, it’s not real death—just one level.”

“Right, just one level. Why would I be angry, huh?”

I smiled, flicking the five paper pieces.

They fluttered down and landed silently at the feet of the five.

Then I clapped my hands, as if nothing had happened, and walked back into the temple. “Don’t you want to fight the boss? Come on, I’ll help you!”

Some people just never understand what that fox tail represents.

Well, can’t blame them.

The ignorant are always so blissful.
