Join the ServerI thought having the Moon Goddess watch my assessment was bad enough, but I never expected the ending wouldn’t be her watching—it would be her rolling up her sleeves and stepping in herself…
The Moon Goddess waved her hand and yanked me out of the snow, then came a blow straight to my head!
[Priest System Moon Goddess Test Begins!]
[Mission Objective: Defeat the Moon Goddess without using her full power.]
“Hey, wait… How could I possibly beat you?!” I cried out in dismay as the Moon Goddess, without a word, lifted her priest staff and charged at me.
Sure, I wasn’t afraid of anyone in close combat, but she was a god! She completely overwhelmed me in both speed and power countless times over! This was something skill alone couldn’t solve!
The staff came down slower than I expected. I sidestepped and blocked it with my own staff.
“Oh! You blocked it! Not bad… I know being a god is annoying, but my power is real—it’s not something a little one like you can handle. So I won’t use my full strength. I’ll fight you at the same level and rank. Whoever touches the other three times first wins!”
As she spoke, the Moon Goddess pushed aside my staff and continued attacking. I could clearly see on her face an expression like a child who had stolen candy—eager and exhilarated.
It seemed this legendary god was really looking forward to this unorthodox fight.
Fine, I’ll play along.
The Moon Goddess thrust her staff straight at my chest, shouting as she did:
“Take my move—Snake Out of the Hole!”
The name was cool, but it didn’t add any extra effect, and the attack was still within what I could handle. I squatted down to dodge, then lightly pressed my staff tip downward like a dragonfly skimming water, and gently flicked up…
I tapped lightly downward like a dragonfly, then spoke softly:
“One!”
The Moon Goddess clearly hadn’t expected me to strike at her foot. She was startled for a moment but didn’t take it seriously—after all, there were still four hits left!
“Not bad, you’ve got ideas. Take this—Rage Sweep Heaven and Earth!”
Hearing the increasingly flashy move names, I felt an overwhelming urge to complain—Sister Moon Goddess, it’s a waste for you to be a priest!
I squatted again, lifted my staff, and tapped lightly.
“Two.”
Seeing me counterattack in the same way twice, a faint embarrassed blush crept onto the Moon Goddess’s face: “Alright, I guess I need to get serious. You really are different from those ordinary priests. Come on! One more touch and you win! But the next battle won’t be so easy! Take this! Still Rage Sweep Heaven and Earth!”
This time, her attack was several times fiercer! There was no time to squat or jump—I had no choice but to raise my staff to block… Holy crap!!!
Bang! An enormous force hit my hand, and I nearly lost my grip on the staff—she was definitely cheating! There was no way this was the power of my level! I was almost sent flying by that blow!
“Why are you looking at me with such suspicion? I tell you! I’m a god! How could a god cheat against a tiny mortal like you? I said I’m using the same power as you, and I am! Absolutely no cheating!” The Moon Goddess pouted, and even a blind person could feel the guilt practically radiating off her.
“No way! That power is impossible…” I weakly protested.
“Can’t I have put all my points into strength?”
Fine, fine, I have nothing to say… You’re the goddess of priests, you’re the boss, you’re always right…
“Come on again! Still Rage Sweep Heaven and Earth!”
The priest staff came fiercely, its speed doubled from before. I began to suspect that Her Majesty the Moon Goddess might have accidentally maxed out agility too.
Fine. If you’re going to cheat, I’ll cheat too. I originally didn’t want to use what I learned in my past life and just fool around, but since you’re not playing by the rules, I have no choice…
The Moon Goddess’s Rage Sweep Heaven and Earth had already merged into the night, leaving no afterimage, and it was getting faster—clearly she had maxed agility too.
She was aiming to smash me in one hit… Come on… I’m only two hits ahead…
I gripped my staff with both hands, one above the other, and drew a circle in the air. The tip of my staff flicked upward, skillfully deflecting her horizontal sweep.
Clearly, all beings on the Adell Continent were used to clashing with big moves and had no concept of martial technique. The Moon Goddess was no exception. She never expected that a strike with such overwhelming speed and power could be deflected by me. She was momentarily flustered!
“Rage Sweep Heaven and Earth!” This time, I shouted it.
A true Rage Sweep Heaven and Earth shouldn’t just be a bland horizontal swing.
Instead of taking the shortcut to sweep directly at the Moon Goddess, I turned back, spinning my staff 360 degrees around my waist, then, carrying all the inertial force, struck heavily at the Moon Goddess’s waist!
The Moon Goddess thought I would attack from the same path, but she didn’t expect me to spin around and strike from the opposite direction. By the time she tried to change position to block, it was too late!
“Three…”
Hey, why can’t I move?
“Take this! I smash! I smash! I smash! One! Two! Three! I win!”
The Moon Goddess froze me in place, then angrily hit me on the head three times. Afterward, she stood with her hands on her hips, looking at me like a victor without any shame.
“Terrible! Absolutely terrible! How can such poor close-combat skills handle the increasingly dangerous battles ahead? To borrow the Time God’s words: you are still too young!” The Moon Goddess wagged her finger smugly, putting on the air of a mentor teaching a junior.
It was obviously you who cheated…
I thought I was shameless enough, but I didn’t expect the head of our Holy Light system to be even more brazen…
“You understand, right? No matter what, we battlefield healers who believe in Holy Light are always the first target for assassination. So it’s not enough to just know how to heal the wounded. We must have strong close-combat abilities to fend off assassins… A healer who survives is a good healer. Do you understand?” The Moon Goddess clasped her hands behind her back, looking just like a reclusive master—if only she weren’t so scorched black.
And you have the nerve to say that…
“What’s with that ‘And you have the nerve to say that’ expression? Didn’t I win? Didn’t I defeat you fair and square? To borrow the Time God’s words: you young people shouldn’t be trying to make a big scene every day. I won, didn’t I? And I won fair and square without any favoritism! You should be humble and learn from me!”
Facing a boss who was both powerful and as shameless as me, I suddenly felt a sense of helplessness!
The Moon Goddess had a smug smile on her lips. It seemed she had even forgotten being charred by the moon explosion. She was in an extremely good mood. Finally, she waved her hand magnanimously: “Ah, forget it. Considering you’re still young and the one who found the temple, I’ll count this as passing the test!”
