Join the Server28 bottles of river water doesn’t mean 28 babies, just a 28x increase in the probability of multiples. I still don’t understand what Xueli is laughing about, as if something terrible is about to happen to me…
“28 times… hahahaha 28 times…”
“What will happen with 28 bottles? Will something horrible occur?” I asked cautiously.
Alekxia sighed helplessly, looking at Xueli, who was ignoring her warning and rolling on the ground laughing. She rubbed her forehead and sighed. “Nothing much. Just make sure to lay down a thick blanket when you lay your eggs…”
???
“W-why?” I asked in panic.
“You’ll find out then. It’s better you don’t know now. Anyway, you must do as I say, otherwise… puh-cough!”
Alekxia’s sudden laugh made me feel even more uneasy! Even the aloof Alekxia couldn’t hold back her laughter… What a terrifying thing that must be!
“Alright, alright, it’s just once. It’ll pass…” Alekxia’s eyes were full of pity. “Take care of your pregnancy. Now let’s talk business… Since you pulled out those two swords sealing Baridros, you have the duty to carry on the mission those swords represent.”
[Main Quest: Find Alekxia and Xueli completed.]
[Next quest automatically accepted: Secrets of the Continent.]
“There is a huge secret hidden within Baridros. This secret was once Xueli and my mission, but unfortunately, we failed…”
A mission that even Saint ranks couldn’t complete?
We’re definitely in big trouble…
“In the Northern Snowfield, countless secrets forgotten by modern people are buried. Some are priceless treasures, some are deadly remnants of war, and others are entrances to unknown realms.”
As Alekxia spoke, the scene before Xueli and me suddenly shifted. Then, we were looking down at the entire Northern Snowfield from a god’s perspective!
“The temple is one of the secrets. With Princess Sheng’s divine power, it’s never covered by snow, so people can find it… But beneath that snow cover, in the extreme cold ice layers, and deep in unknown snow pits hundreds of meters deep, lie millennia-old relic remains unknown to anyone. The target of this operation is one of those relics!”
The scene changed again with Alekxia’s voice. We suddenly plummeted from the sky into the snow, not stopping, continuing to fall.
We didn’t know how deep we fell. The scene before us was no longer the dark ice layers under the snow, but the interior of a magnificent palace carved from ice and snow!
The palace was almost empty—except for a portal that shone with complex starlight like the Milky Way.
The portal was as tall as the temple, bottomless. Only two pillars carved with mysterious runes were visible, engraved with a strange eye pattern… And between the pillars was a nebula-like portal energy as deep as the universe.
In that gate, fragments of the other side occasionally flickered—trees and grass, a place very close to the continent of Adell.
“This is your destination—a ruin from thirty thousand years ago, a planar portal left by an unknown god, leading to an unknown space… I need you to take a recording crystal and explore the secrets on the other side!”
“Xueli and I once tried, but unfortunately, this portal has a rank restriction: only life forms below level six can pass through to the other side. When we discovered this temple, Xueli and I were already level fifteen… We tried sending some apprentices below level six through the portal, but none returned… However, you’re different. You’re adventurers, darlings of the universal will. You can never truly die!”
The scene shifted again. Our vision rose, returning to the air above the snowfield, directly above the temple.
“The coordinates here are… With a magic compass, it’s not hard to find, but this place is close to the known northern limit of life. You’ll encounter many high-level magical beasts on the way. Don’t fight them head-on; be careful!”
[Quest Log Updated: You have inherited the mission of two Saint-rank predecessors, preparing to explore the temple at the coordinates in the Northern Snowfield.]
The scene returned to our location. I lay in Yingning’s arms, with Alekxia standing before us, as if I had just taken a spiritual journey—a very magical feeling.
“When you come back, we’ll give you rewards you can choose from. You won’t be disappointed.”
Main quest rewards—of course, they won’t disappoint!
“Oh!” I suddenly remembered something. The pet trainer from Pallet Town, the one who could never become a master, also told me to find Alekxia and Xueli, and to tell them it was on his orders.
“A pet trainer who can never become a master told me to come to you and said that if I mention him, you’ll understand…”
[Hidden Quest — “Collect Z-Crystals” started.]
“Eh?! Senior Tajima Satoshi?!” Alekxia was startled. I was also surprised—a Saint rank calling that guy a senior!
“Since you passed Senior Tajima Satoshi’s test, you’re qualified to use this…” It might boost your survival chances through the portal. Alekxia extended her hand. In her palm appeared two crystal-clear, rhombus-shaped crystals emitting a faint blue light. “These are called Z-Crystals. Each of you wear one. You can use the power of a Z-Crystal once per day to unleash a Z-Move.”
Yingning and I each took a Z-Crystal. As soon as I took it, I felt as if it merged with my bloodline, allowing a refreshing, cool energy to flow through my body. Though cool, it was exceptionally gentle.
Not cold at all—it even dispelled the chill of the Northern Snowfield.
Moreover, a very strong connection suddenly formed between Yingning and me. To describe it, the phrase ‘heart-to-heart’ couldn’t be more appropriate.
“Z-Crystals are a mysterious unknown mineral that connects a master with their contracted partner, allowing them to unleash a powerful combined skill. Each Z-Crystal corresponds to a type of skill. You’ve received the Ice Z-Crystal, or Ice Z for short. Its corresponding Z-Move is [Freezing Frenzy: Earth for a Thousand Miles], a wide-area group attack skill with strong killing power and no side effects. But you can only use it once a day, so use it wisely.”
“Do I have to hold it in my hand?” I tried to put the Z-Crystal into my backpack, and instantly felt that connection severed.
“Not necessarily. You can also embed it in equipment. And later when you change equipment, you can remove the Z-Crystal and re-embed it. Z-Crystals are very hard, so no worries about damage.” Alekxia paused. “Anything else this time? Actually, we really are fated. You picked up the monitor we left, pulled out mine and Xueli’s swords, Leturas sent you to us, and even Senior Tajima Satoshi sent you to us…”
“Yeah…” What a coincidence. Others dream of meeting a Saint rank even once, but we had missions linking us to them four times.
“So, come back alive!” Xueli stood up, her Saint-rank dignity returning. “…I’m looking forward to hearing about the 28 bottles.”
For some reason, a chill ran down my spine. That ominous feeling grew stronger and stronger…
