Join the ServerAt level 4 berserk, the monsters were more than capable of instantly killing us!
But correspondingly, their health and resistance were instantly reduced to one-sixteenth of the original, giving us the ability to kill them in one blow as well!
In that case, we absolutely couldn’t fight head-on. With normal tactics, we would be killed before we could take them down.
“Meow your head! Come and hit me!”
I threw all my remaining healing spells onto Yingning, instantly causing an overflow of healing power and redirecting aggro.
In that instant, all the monsters that had been targeting Yingning turned to me, including the level 3 berserk one.
I was already dealing with a level 4 berserk boss. Now with the aggro shift, both monsters fired at me, and all my healing skills had gone into cooldown. There was no way I could survive this wave of attacks!
Yingning knew this too. My suicidal move nearly choked her with terror. Fortunately, her mind raced, and she quickly grasped my intention. Then she transformed into a beam of light, shooting straight toward the level 4 berserk boss.
At the same time, with my health nearly depleted, I shouted, “Equipment skill! Fate Arena!”
I had almost forgotten this skill I had crafted myself, but luckily it came to mind at the critical moment.
A milky white halo shot from Frostmourne’s tip, enveloping me and the small monster I had selected. Light flashed, and we both vanished from the spot.
[Fate Arena: Pulls the caster and another target into the Fate Arena for 15 seconds. Cooldown: 30 minutes. Upon entering, both parties become invincible, standing at opposite ends of the arena, and begin a dice roll to compare values. If you win the contest, congratulations—it means your luck is better.]
It seemed like a useless skill, almost mocking me with its description, but it granted me a full fifteen seconds of invincibility.
I hoped Yingning could hold out for those fifteen seconds. There was no other choice.
With the target lost, both bosses froze. The skill animation from their previous attack on me hadn’t finished yet, and turning around to re-target Yingning would take time.
But even a single second was enough for Yingning to reach the boss.
[Eli’s Oath – Execution!]
This was a burst state even more extreme than the blade form. In this state, Yingning would die instantly if hit by just two fireballs!
Of course, this state also granted immense instantaneous damage! At this moment, either the enemy died, or Yingning perished!
[Sky-Cleaving Slash!]
Cold light sliced through the boss’s body.
-9300
[Thousand-Hook Slash!]
Lightning tore through the flames.
Combo! -12000
[Meteor Fall!]
White light pierced the boss’s body.
Combo! Critical! -24030!
[Extreme Ice Break!]
Combo! -50019
This combo sequence was the exclusive burst skill of the Blade Warrior, each subsequent hit dealing increased damage.
With the special enhancement of the class artifact, this combo reached a level that could destroy anything—sky, earth, universe. It took only one second to complete, and with [Eli’s Oath – Execution] tripling damage and adding 1000 true damage per hit, combined with the boss’s nearly zero defense due to level 4 berserk, it dealt a magnificent 80k damage even without criticals! With the Meteor Fall crit, total damage reached 95349!
And the boss’s health, reduced by sixteen times due to level 4 berserk, was under 200k. With my temporary departure (entering the Fate Arena), the boss’s stats halved again, leaving it with just over ninety thousand health.
[Normal Attack]
-500
Bang! The corpse exploded, dropping countless materials and a purple treasure chest.
There was no time to check the loot. Yingning quickly switched her preset stance to [Eli’s Oath – Guard], but the Execution state didn’t fade immediately—stance switching had a cooldown. She could only crouch low among the monsters, chugging health potions while dodging frantically, waiting for the equipment’s cooldown to automatically switch to the preset Guard state.
Only one second had passed out of fifteen. She still had to endure fourteen more.
But as a warrior with movement speed buffs, she could dodge attacks more easily than I could. After putting distance between herself and the level 3 berserk boss, surviving fourteen seconds shouldn’t be a problem.
The Fate Arena was a chaotic space with a seesaw-like balance beam. The big eyeball and I stood at opposite ends, and large screens showed Yingning’s predicament.
I watched anxiously as the bewildered little eyeball monster stared ahead, while the cosmic will of the universe forced me to slowly roll a die.
[First round begins.]
[You rolled a 1.]
[Your opponent rolled a 6.]
[First round: You lose.]
My end of the seesaw lifted, while my opponent’s lowered.
This big eyeball had surprisingly good luck…
After one round, five seconds had passed.
Through the screen, I saw Yingning dodging desperately. She had been hit once, only surviving by chugging a health potion.
[Second round begins.]
[You rolled a 6.]
[Your opponent rolled a 1.]
[Second round: You win.]
The seesaw balanced out. Ten seconds had passed.
[Third round begins.]
[You rolled a 4.]
[Your opponent rolled a 4.]
[Draw! Entering overtime!]
What the hell, there’s overtime?!
Yingning was hit again. Her health was completely drained, and she had no more potions to keep her alive!
[Fourth round begins.]
[You rolled a 5.]
[Your opponent rolled a 3.]
[Congratulations! You win! Your luck is better!]
What good is that?! Let me out!
[Exiting scene countdown… 10, 9, 8…]
…I decided I would dismantle Frostmourne.
I should have never used this skill and instead relied on Luya’s Light’s passive survival skill to tough it out.
Thankfully, Yingning survived the Execution state’s debuff and switched to Guard, then held on for ten more seconds against the level 3 berserk boss.
[Leaving the scene. Welcome to the Fate Arena again.]
As if I’d visit again!
Finally, I was ejected from the Fate Arena. By then, my healing skills had cooled down. Without hesitation, I cast [Rapid Healing], a mid-level great heal, on Yingning.
“I thought you were going back to feed the kids,” Yingning said, glaring at me with resentment.
“…” I was too ashamed to respond.
With the level 4 berserk boss dead, our healing output exceeded the damage we were taking, creating a virtuous cycle. The rest of the battle was a foregone conclusion.
The level 3 berserk boss couldn’t withstand the combined assault of Yingning and me. Two minutes later, the second purple-named boss fell.
The battle continued for another ten-plus minutes until we cleared all the smaller monsters.
Risk truly matched reward. I had now reached level 51, and Yingning had broken through the level 50 mark!
Opening the chest could wait. I was more curious about the new talent skill I had gained at level 50.
