Chapter 163: A Saint’s Treasure

I’ve already crafted twenty pieces. All blue.

I couldn’t help but marvel at my earlier one-hit miracle. Had a genuine lucky star really fallen so low as to rely on a single successful craft to feel excited? Wasn’t that supposed to be the norm? What was wrong with this world?

Up until now, I hadn’t seen any of the special attributes the system had mentioned. All I got were ordinary crafting attributes I’d seen before, already publicly known.

I began to suspect that the so-called special attributes might just refer to a specific ordinary attribute, such as Intelligence +10. Perhaps the probability of obtaining that attribute here was higher—elsewhere, it might appear once every ten crafts, but here, once every five.

I checked my recorded attribute tables and found no such anomaly.

However, I did notice from the current data that for blue equipment, the total attribute scores from crafts using 3 magic crystals and those using 10 crystals were quite similar. This indicated that the number of magic crystals only affected the probability of producing higher-quality equipment, not the quality of the attributes themselves.

– What are you busy with? Shouldn’t you be lying in after childbirth? Why are you hammering away?

“You perverted voyeur!” I glared angrily at the suddenly activated communication crystal. This woman had absolutely no concept of privacy!

– You’ve got no chest and no butt… well, the butt is decent… Anyway, why would I want to peep at a little girl like you?

“So what do you want?” I was instantly on high alert. I didn’t believe for a second that this she-cat had anything good in mind by suddenly opening the communication crystal.

– I was just checking on you… Do you want me to bring you a blanket?

If she’s being nice, there’s definitely a catch! This feline was up to no good!

“Yes! Bring the whole bed along!” I said to the air projection that looked like a TV.

Whatever. Only a fool would pass up a freebie. Besides, if she had any ill intentions, I could just say no.

– Deal!

Sherli grabbed the bed she was sitting on, and then the air projection screen went black.

I was puzzled when I noticed something odd about the air projection… It seemed to bulge out at one corner?

Then I saw the entire bed being pushed out of the projection, with a crumpled, original blanket on it…

“How lazy can you be that you won’t even buy a new blanket? Fine… Holy crap! Help, help, help, help, help!”

I saw a disheveled woman lying on the TV screen, stretching out a hand.

Sa-sa-sa-Sadako?

No… it’s Sherli!

“Whoever you are! Get back in there!”

I frantically pressed the button to turn off the communication crystal, but to no avail.

Finally, I watched in despair as Sherli crawled over from the other end of the communication… No, she crawled over two-fifths of the way, with only her head and shoulders through.

“He… help… My chest is too big, I’m stuck…”

Sherli awkwardly reached out a hand to me for help.

I wanted to leave her there, but I couldn’t. She was our big financier; ignoring her wasn’t an option.

“The bed could come through, but you can’t? Just how terrifying are your measurements?” I seized the chance to mock her.

“No, I can cast shrinking spells on the bed, but not on myself…”

Sherli wriggled helplessly, only to get even more stuck. “See that little green button under the crystal? Press it, and the screen gets bigger. Give it a press…”

Okay, okay, I obediently did as asked.

“Sorry… press it again, my butt is stuck too…”

It wasn’t that Sherli’s butt was outrageously big; she had her tail wrapped around a priest staff, which got caught.

Can tails really be used that way? New skill learned!

“You’d better go back…” Despite saying that, I pressed the green button again.

“There…” Sherli squeezed out with difficulty, then shot me a dissatisfied glance.

Of course I wanted you to go back! Nothing good ever happens when you show up!

“A distinguished Saint-level powerhouse making an entrance like this—don’t you think it’s beneath you?” I scoffed.

“I can’t help it. The Celestial Ruins is one of the infinite parallel spaces, not even in the same dimension as our world. Its coordinates are erratic and impossible to lock onto. Even gods can’t find it. Only strange contract creatures like you can locate this place… So if I want to come, this is the only way.” Sherli shrugged helplessly.

After steadying herself, Sherli ignored my crafting and looked around curiously. “Great place! It’s like an undeveloped world… You’re like a creator here! It must feel amazing!”

Not at all.

It’s empty here—nothing but vegetation and uncivilized beasts. A couple of days ago, some players’ captured pets finally appeared, but my girls blasted them to ashes…

Those players must be crying, right?

Anyway… not my problem… yeah… not my problem…

“This place is really safe—even the gods can’t sense it. If it weren’t for a highly intelligent anomalous contract creature like you, I would never have found this place in my life…” Sherli sighed, looking around, and took a deep breath of the scorched explosion smell of the Celestial Ruins…

Catching the burnt smell, Sherli twitched the corner of her mouth. “Okay, it’s really safe here, except for you… You’re too dangerous… That cannon blast of yours, if it hits, even a Saint-level can’t withstand it… I mean a Saint-level without defenses.”

That’s still impressive. How much HP does a level 180 Saint-level have anyway?

Sherli closed her eyes and sensed the Celestial Ruins. “There really are no other high-intelligence beings here besides us… I’m curious how a high-level being like you could willingly sign a master-servant contract…”

I didn’t know how to answer, but Sherli didn’t expect me to. She just waved her hand, then her expression turned serious as she faced me.

“I came here to ask a favor of you.”

“Should I say I expected that?” I rolled my eyes at Sherli.

When someone is nice for no reason, it’s either fraud or robbery—especially you!

Last time, you seemingly gave Ai Ning a skill book from the Alphabet River for free, and then… heh heh heh heh heh…

“What’s with that look? It’s clearly your master’s face that’s too dark. That’s why he had to chug 28 bottles! With a 30% chance, triggering on the 28th try… Your luck is terrible! Calling you black as a skillet is a compliment! What does that have to do with me?”

Sherli exploded in irritation.

“Really, the 28th try? Didn’t some bastard whisper nonsense into my master’s ear?” I grinned brightly.

Sherli averted her eyes. “Alright! Enough nonsense! We’re buddies. What’s there to care about between buddies? It’s not like I got you pregnant or something?”

What kind of buddy gets the other pregnant? I’ve read a lot—don’t try to fool me!

“Alright, alright,” Sherli continued to change the subject without missing a beat. “I really do have a favor to ask of you!”

“What is it?” I replied grumpily.

Upon hearing my response, Sherli’s expression suddenly turned extremely serious.

Then she undid one complex magical lock after another, and finally, from another dimension, she pulled out a warm little box made of white jade.

Just the box alone was of golden quality. I couldn’t imagine what priceless treasure inside could be so valued by a Saint-level like Sherli!

Sherli carefully placed the box on the bed and began unlocking it again, undoing one dazzling, obviously dangerous magical lock after another.

Finally, Sherli unlocked all the locks. She placed her hands on the box’s rim and, with love and utmost care, lifted the lid.

Inside the box, there was no ultra-divine artifact as I had imagined.

It was something I had once detested but now cherished, something I would handle with care and guard with my life.

Eggs.

Two eggs.
