Chapter 67: A Tour and a Talk

Lin Duo left early the next day. Following the map’s navigation, she transferred several times until she reached the entrance of a high-end residential complex. There, a security guard stopped her. “Little sister, you can’t just enter here,” he politely stated.

“I’m here to visit a friend,” Lin Duo explained her purpose.

“Then please ask your friend to come out and meet you.”

Consequently, Lin Duo called Shen Jing’an. Soon, the young girl came jogging over, not forgetting to grumble at the guard. “Honestly, making someone put on a down jacket and come out in this bitter winter weather!” she exclaimed.

The security guard, good-natured, replied, “It’s my duty. Please understand.”

“Hmph, well, now you remember my best friend, don’t you? Don’t stop her next time!”

“Alright, alright…” The guard’s tone sounded more like a perfunctory agreement.

Shen Jing’an lived in a detached three-story villa. Its ground floor featured a remarkably spacious living room, adorned with exquisite oil paintings and delicate porcelain. As Lin Duo stepped inside, she looked around with curiosity. “Xiao Jing, your house is so huge!” she exclaimed.

“Hmph, of course it is! The air conditioning is on inside, so go ahead and change out of your outdoor clothes,” Shen Jing’an declared, entirely devoid of modesty.

Lin Duo shed her down jacket, hanging it on a rack, then slipped into a pair of slippers. She followed Shen Jing’an to the comfortable large sofa. “Xiao Jing, are your parents not home?” she inquired.

“That’s precisely why I’m so bored and asked you to come over! Besides, you’ve just suffered a heartbreak, and you desperately need an energy infusion from me!”

Shen Jing’an seized Lin Duo’s small hand and, with a theatrical flourish, declared, “Now I shall infuse my precious vital energy into your body! Marry Marry Hum! How about that? Did you receive it?”

“Pfft, you’re joking!” Lin Duo’s mood visibly brightened. She smiled, playfully pinching her roommate’s nose. “So, how have you been doing at home these past few days?” she asked.

“Hmph, I was bored to death! Let me tell you…”

Shen Jing’an was naturally a chatterbox, and having been cooped up at home for days, she had an untold backlog of words to unleash. She now poured them all out to Lin Duo.

Lin Duo, with her quieter disposition, listened patiently for a long time. ‘But it’s strange,’ she thought. ‘According to the character settings, shouldn’t I be the one doing the complaining? How did it get reversed?’

Shen Jing’an rambled on for a considerable time before finally realizing her oversight. She stuck out her tongue apologetically. “Oops, my bad. Today, I was supposed to be comforting you. Hmph, that Cai Jingyao seemed so decent, but he turned out to be a total scumbag! But honestly, he really didn’t do anything to you, did he?”

‘Why is everyone so concerned about this?’ Lin Duo wondered. She had to clarify once more. “The most we ever did was hug. There was no other intimate behavior!”

“Phew, that’s good! I would have been so heartbroken if you’d been taken advantage of! Well, anyway, it’s all in the past, so just don’t bother with that scumbag anymore. Come here for a hug~”

“Mm, a hug~”

This was far from Lin Duo’s first intimate interaction with another girl, so she didn’t feel much. If anything, it was probably just friendship.

However, Shen Jing’an apparently didn’t see it that way, seizing the opportunity to take liberties. Her mischievous little hands stealthily crept up Lin Duo’s chest.

“Hehehe, let me check on your recent development!” she teased.

“Ugh, how boring!” Lin Duo swat away the encroaching hands without ceremony. “Don’t you have your own? And they’re bigger than mine, so go feel yourself!”

“Hmph, so stingy!” As she spoke, Shen Jing’an stood up and extended her hand. “Come on, let me give you a tour of my house!”

After all, it was a three-story villa with over a dozen rooms, including a dedicated study and a collector’s room. Lin Duo was particularly intrigued by the antiques in the collector’s room. She circled a blue and white porcelain vase several times, her gaze fixed on it. “Xiao Jing, which dynasty is this from? It looks incredibly ancient!” she asked.

“My dad knows about this stuff; I just think it looks pretty,” Shen Jing’an replied.

“Your family seems incredibly wealthy!”

“Mm… we get by…”

For some unknown reason, Shen Jing’an had never mentioned her parents’ specific professions. Lin Duo, of course, had no way to guess, but it was clear the girl wasn’t short on money.

Next, Lin Duo entered the study, a space where several bookshelves brimmed with all sorts of books. Among them, management and calligraphy practice books were plentiful, alongside a vast collection of novels.

Lin Duo had loved reading novels since childhood, and seeing so many books before her now filled her with envy. “If only I had such a large bookshelf!” she lamented.

“The books I usually buy have nowhere to go; I can only pile them under my bed. I feel so bad for the ‘Book Lords’!”

Shen Jing’an stayed by Lin Duo’s side. “I can’t help with a bookshelf, but if there’s any book you like, you can take it home to read. I’ll just tell my dad afterward,” she offered.

“Really? Thank you!” Lin Duo happily selected many books she wanted to read from the shelves. She then gathered them into a large bag, placing it by the door to take with her when she left.

Finally, they naturally headed to Shen Jing’an’s private room. It was still adorned in the familiar pink palette, filled with various adorable animal plushies. The desk was cluttered with exquisite gifts the room’s owner had received, such as various figurines and collectibles.

However, there was one slightly incongruous detail: two intimate posters of male celebrities hung on the wall. While they depicted no overtly physical contact, they certainly invited romantic fantasies, falling into a soft ‘BL’ category.

Many boy bands nowadays even used this as a selling point.

Shen Jing’an noticed where Lin Duo’s gaze had landed and began to explain. “This is a new South Korean boy band that just debuted. You probably don’t know them yet, but they’re really handsome! Oh, by the way, Xiao Duo, do you have any favorite celebrities?”

“Hmm… I don’t really pay much attention to the entertainment industry, so I don’t have any particular favorites. If I had to pick, I suppose it would be Li Jie?”

“Eh? The famous singer?”

“Yes, yes, I really love his songs!”

After a few more moments of casual conversation, the two girls sat side-by-side on the comfortable large bed. Shen Jing’an opened a photo album folder on her laptop, introducing Lin Duo to the story behind each picture.
