Chapter 89: A Sheer Nightgown and a Mysterious Warning

The four friends resumed their karaoke session, singing until past one in the morning. When a collective weariness settled over them, Shen Jing’an finally suggested they rest. She generously provided each of her three companions with a fresh towel and one of her own old nightgowns.

However, upon receiving the sleepwear, Lin Duo hesitated. “Xiaojing,” she began, a hint of awkwardness in her voice, “isn’t this nightgown a bit too sheer?”

“Hmph, nightgowns are meant to be like this for comfort! Who wears those old-fashioned pajamas like you?” Shen Jing’an was a staunch advocate for silk nightgowns.

While the nightgown was indeed rather thin, the crucial areas featured thickened designs. ‘Surely it wouldn’t be *too* revealing… right? Probably?’

The villa boasted two bathrooms. To expedite their evening routine, two people shared each. Lin Duo found herself sharing with the shortest of the girls. Lin Duo first completed her own extensive regimen of brushing, washing, and skincare at the vanity, while the shorter girl slipped into the adjacent bathtub. The bathtub was discreetly hidden behind a thick, individual curtain, ensuring privacy and preventing any awkwardness.

As they went about their ablutions, the shorter girl continued to chat with Lin Duo. “It’s clear Xiaojing really likes you,” she remarked. “She often mentions you when we’re chatting privately.”

“Hmph, as long as she’s not talking bad about me behind my back!” Lin Duo had always harbored doubts about her roommate’s character.

Perhaps due to their familiarity, the shorter girl spoke without much reservation. “Xiaojing does have a bit of a princess complex, but she’s genuinely a good person.”

“I think it’s because her parents and family spoil her too much,” Lin Duo replied, meticulously applying face cream as she gazed into the mirror. “They give her an absurd amount of New Year’s money.”

A brief silence fell from the bathtub before the girl spoke again. “There’s actually a reason for that. When Xiaojing was six, she was kidnapped by an enemy of her father’s. She narrowly escaped being killed. Ever since then, her family has spoiled her rotten, giving her whatever she wants.”

“An enemy?” Lin Duo paused, her hand hovering with the face cream. “What kind of person has such a deranged enemy?”

“Hasn’t Xiaojing told you? Hmm, then I shouldn’t say too much. My apologies!”

Following that, the conversation from the bathtub shifted to other topics. Though Lin Duo was brimming with curiosity, she decided it was best not to press for more details.

Once the shorter girl had finished her bath, Lin Duo stepped out to give her privacy. She re-entered the bathroom only after the other girl had changed into her nightgown and completed her own washing. Lin Duo carefully locked the door, then finally began to enjoy her own bath.

The bathtub was remarkably spacious; Lin Duo’s petite frame could easily stretch out completely within it. She filled it with warm water, settling in comfortably as she lathered herself with shower gel and hand soap.

After washing and drying herself, Lin Duo couldn’t resist a moment of vanity, checking her reflection in the mirror. Due to years of continuous medication, her current physique was that of a perfectly standard young woman, with her waist and hips exhibiting a more pronounced curve than before, capable of filling out form-fitting women’s clothing. Her only two regrets were her rather modest chest and the slightly conspicuous ‘little stick’ between her legs. Lin Duo experimentally flicked the ‘little stick’ with her finger, sighing. She truly hoped it would one day achieve enlightenment and take a voluntary leave of absence, allowing her to become a true girl.

Next, Lin Duo tried on Shen Jing’an’s old nightgown. Made of silk, it was incredibly sheer, revealing glimpses of her skin. Even her small ‘grapes’ on her chest were distinctly visible through the fabric, and the hem barely skimmed her upper thighs. It felt utterly precarious, easily exposing the presence of her ‘little stick.’ Left with no other choice, Lin Duo reverted to wearing the T-shirt and skirt she had arrived in, ensuring her safety shorts were also properly worn before leaving the bathroom.

Though Shen Jing’an cast a disdainful look at Lin Duo’s decision to sleep in her clothes, she couldn’t exactly strip her friend naked. She reluctantly compromised. For safety, Lin Duo opted to sleep on the living room sofa. With the air conditioning and a blanket, it was perfectly comfortable—neither too cold nor too warm.

The following morning, Lin Duo was roused by her phone alarm; she still had tutoring to attend. After washing up, she noticed the other three girls were still fast asleep. Unwilling to disturb their dreams, Lin Duo left a note in the living room and departed.

As she was leaving the community gate, the security guard suddenly called out to her. “Little sister, wait a moment.”

Lin Duo quickly turned around. “Hm? What is it?”

The guard cautiously glanced around before lowering his voice. “Last night, I felt something was amiss. It seemed like someone was secretly observing this place, possibly targeting Uncle Long. Uncle Long isn’t here right now, so you should inform his daughter and tell her to be extra vigilant.”

‘Why is this plot suddenly unfolding like a cop drama?’ Though filled with questions, Lin Duo first agreed to the request. She immediately sent the guard’s words verbatim to Shen Jing’an via text message before heading to the street to wait for the bus.
