Chapter 75: The Inexorable Advance of the Super Reinforcements

Wang Tianming, of course, understood the gravity of the situation; if the Main Camp Barrier were to rely solely on this curse debuff for its health depletion, it would be an eternity before it naturally exploded.

Yet, the curse’s health-draining effect was far from the sole source of damage; minions, regular reinforcements, and the impending super reinforcements all contributed significantly.

Moreover, the specter of even more potent plot-kills loomed, particularly when characters reached level sixteen and unleashed their ultimate abilities.

This debuff effectively nullified the Main Camp Barrier’s restorative capabilities, rendering it a terrifying prospect even without any immediate health loss.

The additional five health points draining every second, however, exerted an immense psychological pressure on everyone.

“Seimei, feel my pain! This curse is just the beginning!” Black Seimei’s menacing voice reverberated from the opposing side, instilling a fresh wave of urgency in everyone present.

They knew, with absolute certainty, that this game had to be brought to a swift conclusion.

Regrettably, the group found themselves trapped in a passive stance, forced to watch as the enemy minion wave inexorably pushed closer.

There was no viable counter-attack; if only they could venture forth to assault the opposing towers and barriers, they would undoubtedly seize the opportunity.

After a considerable period of anticipation, Seimei finally broke the silence, declaring, “Black Seimei, you will pay the price for your actions!”

These righteous words offered a momentary reprieve, easing the tension that gripped everyone.

Though Seimei and Black Seimei were merely exchanging words, their dialogue seemed imbued with a potent magic, capable of profoundly influencing the emotions of all who listened.

“Hmph, merely trying to scare children; I won’t fall for such tricks!” Retracting the previous assumption, Hyounga appeared utterly unfazed.

It seemed his mind was indeed a peculiar one; how he had managed to survive in previous games remained a perplexing mystery.

Hyounga, with a nonchalant air, swung his katana, hacking away at the minions with a rhythmic ‘kacha-kacha.’

Had one ignored the dismal damage figures, his efforts might have appeared genuinely formidable.

Alas, he had opted for a purely tank build, even prioritizing health-boosting equipment to counter true damage.

Given Hyounga’s innate skill set, a modest investment in armor would have allowed him to contribute a respectable amount of damage.

In stark contrast, Kaguya, having diligently followed Wang Tianming’s directives to build attack damage items, cleared minion waves with remarkable proficiency.

Her efficiency far outstripped Hyounga’s, making it unequivocally clear that Hyounga was, without doubt, the most significant hindrance among the five.

While the act of changing equipment inevitably entailed a degree of economic loss, the gold received upon replacing a fallen Shikigami (TL Note: A summoned spirit or deity in Japanese folklore) still reflected the total accumulated throughout the game thus far, mitigating the perceived penalty.

Furthermore, a consistent stream of minion kills would naturally bolster their economy; without securing last hits (TL Note: Delivering the final blow to a minion or monster to gain gold and experience), substantial earnings remained elusive.

Regrettably, Hyounga remained oblivious to this fundamental principle, stubbornly refusing to heed the advice of his teammates—a truly childish display of immaturity.

Before they could even reach level sixteen, the situation shifted once more.

The minion wave, previously a manageable formation of a scythe-wielding melee minion at the vanguard, a bulky, kunai-hurling siege minion in the center, and a remote minion brandishing a soul-summoning banner at the rear, had been relatively simple for them to clear.

Yet, in an instant, the leading melee minion underwent a startling evolution, growing even larger than the siege minion behind it.

Adorned in impressively ornate armor, it strode forward, a formidable, long spiked club clutched firmly in its grasp.

“Super Reinforcement!” Enenra shrieked, her voice laced with alarm, as she was the first to comprehend the sudden change.

“Why are you yelling so loudly for?” Hyounga scoffed dismissively, then lunged forward to attack.

A truly alarming scene immediately unfolded: Hyounga’s attack landed squarely on the Super Reinforcement, yet not a single point of health was depleted!

“Is there network lag?” Hyounga muttered, a perplexed frown creasing his brow as he stared at the Super Reinforcement.

“Why don’t I see any damage numbers?” Still disbelieving, he launched another attack.

Still, not a single drop of health was lost!

While a complete inability to inflict damage would be highly improbable in a conventional game, this was the “Destiny Game,” where different rules might apply.

Even within a standard game, Hyounga would find himself utterly helpless against a Super Reinforcement, a predicament only exacerbated by his current build of purely health-focused equipment.

In truth, Hyounga was not alone in his inability to inflict significant damage.

Even Kaguya, despite her attack damage build, struggled to deal substantial harm; her “Horai Steel Rod” (TL Note: A specific in-game item, possibly a powerful weapon) felt like little more than a tickle against the Super Reinforcement.

Enenra and Ara, too, found their damage output severely constrained, primarily due to the scattered nature of the three minion lanes and the necessity of waiting for their skill cooldowns.

The only one capable of clearing lanes with relative ease was Zhen.

As an Attack Damage Carry (ADC) boasting innate true damage and a high attack speed, she proved exceptionally adept at dispatching minions once she had scaled.

Nevertheless, the capabilities of a single individual were inherently limited; she simply couldn’t monitor all three minion lanes simultaneously, making it inevitable that some stragglers would inevitably breach the Main Camp Barrier’s defensive perimeter.

The Main Camp Barrier, consequently, began to rapidly hemorrhage health!
