Chapter 93: From Survivor to Fallen Angel

“Welcome to the game instance—’Identity V’. Please follow the instructions of game guide Nina to begin your game! Good luck to you~”

The voice of the Destiny System echoed, as mechanical and devoid of emotion as ever.

Just like before, the Destiny System offered no extensive introduction to the game content, a task seemingly delegated to Nina for explanation.

Wang Tianming felt himself seated on a chair before a long dining table, laden with plates holding cheap bread and adorned with dilapidated candle holders.

Perhaps it was due to having been teleported several times, or simply growing accustomed to it, but Wang Tianming felt no dizziness this time.

‘Oh, it seems I’m a “Survivor” this time,’ he mused. ‘In that case, I should focus on repairing generators and leave the kiting (TL Note: A strategy in games like Identity V where a player distracts the ‘hunter’ or ‘killer’ to buy time for teammates) to my teammates.’

After all, this was a ‘Destiny Game’; death was final, rendering even a team victory meaningless for the deceased.

Wang Tianming seemed to grasp the crucial aspect of this particular game.

He appeared to be in a waiting interface, for while there were four chairs around the long table, only the one he occupied was filled. This implied he still needed to await the arrival of three teammates and one ‘Hunter’ (TL Note: The opposing role to ‘Survivors’ in Identity V, whose objective is to eliminate the ‘Survivors’) player.

‘Well, it’s a game feature, isn’t it? Half an hour queue for five minutes of gameplay,’ he thought, shrugging mentally. ‘I’ll just wait.’

With a flicker of thought, Wang Tianming summoned the character selection interface, confirming that all characters were available, and he was currently playing as ‘Lucky Guy’.

‘Lucky Guy’ was a starting character, devoid of name, backstory, or even an initial item; they were also the only character allowed to be duplicated in ‘Hall of Fame’ matches (TL Note: A specific high-tier ranked match mode in Identity V).

Bored by the wait, Wang Tianming was suddenly struck by a whimsical thought: what would happen if he used an item he’d acquired in another game within this one?

Realizing this, he knew he had to act quickly; if he waited until the match started, there was no telling what complications might arise.

Wang Tianming pulled out the ‘Angel’s Seed’. There was no need to question its origin; in this game world, anything one thought of could simply appear.

Clutching the ‘Angel’s Seed’ in his palm, he squeezed it as he had done before, and instantly, a dazzling light burst forth from his hand.

“Warning, warning! A player has used an item that severely disrupts the balance of this world; the system will initiate an emergency repair!”

The Destiny System’s mechanical synthesized voice abruptly blared, as if issuing a direct warning to Wang Tianming. “Item: Angel’s Seed. Source: Legitimate. No penalty will be imposed on the player. To maintain game balance, the system will forcibly modify game rules!”

This time, Wang Tianming truly experienced the long-absent sensation of the world spinning violently. Once his head had settled, he found himself no longer sitting on the dilapidated little chair, but instead reclining on a luxurious, grand sofa!

“I—I’ve switched factions, becoming a ‘Hunter’?!”

Wang Tianming exclaimed in astonishment, gazing at his new surroundings. What surprised him even more was that he hadn’t appeared as Leo, the Factory Manager, but as a ‘Hunter’ he had never seen before!

Leo, the Factory Manager, was considered the default ‘Hunter’ character in Identity V, so a first-time ‘Hunter’ player would invariably appear as him.

Wang Tianming’s current form, however, possessed a pair of long, white wings, a slender and delicate physique, and a small halo hovering above their head. They wore a convent uniform, albeit one that was slightly revealing, and their skin was remarkably pale, almost sickly white.

This was undeniably a Hunter-version of Doctor Emily Dyer, adorned in her ‘Light Angel’ skin!

Completely unaware of what character he had become, Wang Tianming immediately summoned the character selection interface. Upon seeing it, he was instantly stunned—the interface displayed only this one character, for he was no longer a ‘Hunter’, but an inexplicable ‘Rescuer’!

” ‘Fallen Angel’ Angel Fuling, having learned of the atrocities committed by the Manor Lord, traveled a great distance, vowing to help the ‘Survivors’ escape the manor, thus becoming the first and only ‘Rescuer’ within the manor!”

The character description continued: “However, once one steps into the manor, they must abide by the rules set by the Manor Lord. Whether Angel can truly help the ‘Survivors’ escape the manor, perhaps even God Himself would not know…”
