Chapter 54: The Alliance Forged: A Leader’s Unrivaled Talent

Once You confirmed that the Legion Commander would not interrupt, he presented a realistic conjecture to the remaining five individuals:

“The Knightage isn’t returning! Not a single soldier has appeared to report their defeat, which can only mean they have been utterly annihilated!”

The Legion Commander’s expression was grim, appearing utterly defeated, like a frost-bitten eggplant.

However, with a moment of careful thought, he would realize You’s conjecture was accurate, understanding that he had underestimated their adversaries.

After You managed to silence the most troublesome Legion Commander, he noticed a subtle shift in the atmosphere.

The attitudes of the remaining five had also changed from before.

Initially, they had treated the demon race with disdain. It was only upon hearing the shocking phrase ‘utterly annihilated’ that each of them straightened their posture in their seats.

In truth, he was not the only one who had underestimated the demons.

Though the five Legion Commanders didn’t overtly show it, their inner thoughts were largely identical: they all believed,

‘Dealing with a mere few thousand demons would be a trivial matter, wouldn’t it?’

Their assumptions were facile, yet reality had delivered a harsh slap to their faces.

The burning ‘pain’ instantly alerted these individuals, prompting them to seriously consider You’s proposal for an alliance.

Seizing the opportune moment, You immediately intensified his psychological offensive, dropping several ‘bombshell pieces of intelligence’ one after another.

“I’ll be frank with you: yesterday morning, I encountered the demon Leader. I saw her, but she did not notice me.”

His words abruptly ceased there.

Only when the six men stretched their necks, indicating their willingness to listen, did You resume speaking.

“From that brief encounter with the demon Leader, I can definitively state that her power is not to be underestimated. Her talent even surpasses my own!”

The latter half of that statement undoubtedly carried considerable weight.

Among the seven individuals present, six had reached the ‘Life-and-Death Class’ — a level equivalent to the ‘City-Toppling Class’ for women.

However, the age at which each of them attained this level varied significantly.

The older ones only acquired ‘Life-and-Death Class’ power nearing fifty, while the younger ones achieved it after thirty.

None of them could compare to You’s talent.

Several years prior, when he was merely twenty-six or twenty-seven, You had accomplished something that these Legion Commanders, even now, had yet to achieve.

He had truly stepped into the ‘Quasi-Sovereign’ realm!

It was for this very reason that You had been chosen as the Knightage’s commander, earning him the right to stand as an equal among the other six.

Even if the six were reluctant to admit it, the reality was stark:

You was more of a genius than any of them.

But what about now?

This young, accomplished genius now loudly declared the truth in front of outsiders:

“The demon Leader’s talent surpasses mine; she has already entered the ‘Toppling-Nation Class’ realm!”

In that instant, most of those present inexplicably felt a wave of dizziness, as if the tent itself had begun to violently sway.

“Is—is that so? Hmph, now that’s more like it. Only formidable opponents are worthy of individuals like us personally intervening!”

A few individuals with stronger mental fortitude managed to maintain their composure, preventing their expressions from becoming too unsightly.

Yet, their legs beneath the table were already trembling, betraying the shock within.

As if displeased that their reactions weren’t humiliating enough, You immediately delivered another ‘stab’ to their hearts.

“Furthermore, I estimated the demon Leader’s age. Even by the most generous calculation, she is still under twenty years old this year.”

Trembling is contagious.

Sometimes, it can even spread from living beings to inanimate tables.

The Legion Commanders could no longer conceal their inner turmoil. Each of them bore down on the table with their elbows, pressing their full weight onto its surface.

Had the table not been of exceptional quality, one of its legs might have snapped then and there.

The six men’s emotions instantly grew complicated.

They felt as though their entire first half of life had been lived in vain, proving themselves inferior to a mere wild girl from the mountains!

Of course, personal resentment was secondary.

The primary emotion currently gripping the Legion Commanders’ hearts remained profound worry.

As You emphasized:

“An enemy who enters the ‘Toppling-Nation Class’ before the age of twenty is not only a grave threat to our nation, but assuredly to all six of your respective countries as well—a menace that must be eradicated!”

For the first time, the opinions of all seven individuals converged.

The demon Leader’s terrifying talent presented an undeniable obstacle to these human nations, especially the great human powers.

An adversary of this caliber possessed the potential to influence the entire continent, a threat far greater than that posed by any rival nation!

Their minds made up, they resolved to eliminate this threat swiftly and thoroughly, to prevent any future retaliation.

Thus, a seven-nation alliance, previously deemed impossible, was now forged thanks to You’s provocation.

The Legion Commanders understood that this was no time for petty rivalries. They united their efforts, assembling their respective soldiers into a single, cohesive army.

These numerous soldiers, joined by the Knightage You commanded, formed the largest joint legion ever seen since the inception of the great nations.

From common soldiers to generals and commanders, the hundreds of thousands of individuals shared but one objective: the head of the demon Leader!

The following day, infantry and cavalry, stretching as far as the eye could see, converged from four directions around the deep mountains.

Suddenly, across the vast battlefield, no other colors or objects could be discerned.

All the demons could see were the advancing human cavalry legions, alongside numerous archers and mages, divided into several formations, slowly approaching.

With only tens of meters remaining to their destination, the Legion Commanders, astride their steeds, abruptly raised their right hands.

As the commanders made this gesture, a deep, desolate horn blast instantly pierced the heavens.

Amidst the continuous blare of horns, the mighty, surging ranks halted their advance, uniformly raising their densely packed spears and halberds like a forest.

The situation was clear: even the less intelligent demons understood exactly why those soldiers had gathered at the foot of the mountain.

They wished to retaliate, but suddenly recalled the Boss’s established rule.

Initially, this demon contingent had primarily sustained themselves by preying on merchants and travelers for food.

However, ever since Wang became their Boss, the demons’ actions had been restricted.

Specifically, they were forbidden from actively harming humans or taking lives without cause.

In other words:

Whether the demons could now retaliate depended entirely on their Boss’s decision.

Realizing this, the demons collectively turned their heads, fixing their gazes upon their sole commander.

At this moment, Wang and all the main demon forces had descended from the mountain peak to its base.

Their stance, guarding the entrance, appeared to the opposing soldiers as a display of cowardice and incompetence.

Before battle had even commenced, the Legion Commanders’ soldiers exaggeratedly opened their mouths, each letting out mocking jeers.

The taunts from the opposing side caused the demons immense discomfort.

It was then that Wang, who was surrounded at the center, silently parted her forces. With one hand resting on her newly acquired sword’s sheath, she walked directly forward.

The soldiers were delighted to discover an apparently fearless individual approaching from the opposite side, each filled with immense joy.

However, before they could swarm forward, they were halted by their own Legion Commanders.

To be safe, the two Legion Commanders did not allow their soldiers to launch a human wave attack. Instead, they coordinated, riding their horses out from the formation.

Both understood the caliber of opponent they faced, which was why they immediately opted for a ‘two-against-one’ strategy, hoping to compensate for the disparity in power.

At this moment, Wang continued to advance.

Seeing that their opponent showed no sign of stopping, the two Legion Commanders immediately charged forth from the front of their formation, their spears poised for a fierce, piercing attack.

Without a word, both Legion Commanders thrust their weapons downwards with brutal force!

In response, Wang merely shifted the hand resting on her sword’s sheath, a subtle movement.

Immediately, as if nothing had happened, she continued her path directly forward, walking towards the spear tips poised to strike her face.

Clang!

The instant before Wang was to be struck, the symmetrical spear tips in her vision visibly fractured.

This was certainly not weapon damage caused by gripping too tightly. The watching soldiers in the rear clearly saw—

—that the long spears held by the two Legion Commanders had completely snapped in half, right at their centers!

It was as if they had been struck by a blade, sliced with a clean, smooth cut in an instant.

Wang maintained her forward momentum, while the two symmetrical spear tips fell at her feet and rolled away.

After her measured advance, Wang had crossed several meters.

Simultaneously, the bodies of the two Legion Commanders, still astride their horses, immediately tilted outwards to either side of their target. A subtle, elongated object then materialized in the air.

A sharp-eyed kingdom soldier barely managed to discern that the ‘elongated object’ was a thin line.

The red liquid staining the line appeared to be blood.

Wang calmly took her second step. It was only then that the bloodline ‘splashed’ to the ground, accompanied by the fall of two corpses!
