Chapter 63: The Wyvern’s Fall and Wang’s Reciprocity

Before setting out, You had to expend considerable effort to persuade the King to lend him the wyvern. Though not a true dragon, the colossal creature’s presence still struck a profound awe into the hearts of the already scattered allied soldiers.

The wyvern bent its two limbs, then powerfully pushed off with its claws in the high sky. Its colossal wings unfurled, unleashing invisible gales of wind.

Harnessing the swirling currents, the wyvern shot skyward in a single, powerful surge.

It soared ever higher, eventually merging into the dense clouds and vanishing from sight.

Yet, only a few short seconds later, the wyvern’s silhouette materialized once more.

Its powerful, immense body tilted downward, plummeting with all its might, accompanied by a hurricane of oppressive force.

In that instant, every person standing nearby, save for Wang, felt an immense, crushing pressure bearing down upon them.

Even the Legion Commanders, formidable in their own right, found their postures involuntarily stooping under the sheer weight of this oppressive power.

Leveraging the momentum from its previous ascent, the wyvern’s dive intensified, its vibrating wings beating even more rapidly than before.

The low-hanging clouds along its trajectory were ripped asunder the moment they met the wyvern’s wings, leaving a long, slender white trail streaking across the sky.

Had the wyvern drawn even closer to Wang, she would have faintly discerned the moisture clinging to the surface of its wings.

Its cold, gleaming scales flashed in Wang’s eyes. In a single, plummeting instant, the massive wyvern head slammed into the earth.

BOOOOOOM!

Amplified by the force of its dive, the collision was far more deafening than the roar of a collapsing mountain. Its destructive power utterly dwarfed that of a mere falling boulder.

In the blink of an eye, smoke and dust billowed forth, engulfing the entire battlefield.

Without careful discernment, one might easily have mistaken the swirling dust for a sudden, heavy mist blanketing the battlefield.

All three Legion Commanders watched as the fallen wyvern, shrouded in plumes of smoke, slowly raised its long neck, its gaze fixed on the sun that was gradually fading in the high heavens.

At this sight, a collective sigh of relief finally escaped the three men’s chests.

They hadn’t expected the previous impact to effortlessly eliminate Wang. However, they reasoned that the terrifying demon leader must have at least sustained some injury from such a powerful collision.

They didn’t anticipate extensive harm; even a superficial wound would have offered a measure of solace.

For the next twenty seconds, a somber, deathly silence hung over the battlefield.

No sound broke the stillness, save for the wyvern’s labored breathing, the soldiers’ ragged exhales, and the hushed whispers of the Legion Commanders.

As the smoke and dust began to clear, distant soldiers cautiously advanced, nearing the area where they hoped to glimpse the outcome.

These joyous soldiers yearned to erupt in cheers, celebrating the victory they believed the wyvern had secured.

However, at that precise moment, a single cough shattered the silence, instantly plunging everyone back into a state of high alert.

For the Legion Commanders, who had retreated to a safe distance, that cough evoked an emotion beyond mere alarm: utter disbelief.

The three men swiftly turned to You, their eyes locking with his as they pressed him.

“What could the outcome be? Can you tell us beforehand? Even a guess will do!”

You had no definitive answer. He simply stared silently into the distance.

Just then, a streak of black shadow darted from the thinning smoke, carrying the residual wind currents, and assailed the wyvern with a lethal force.

*Clang!*

The black silhouette struck the wyvern’s neck, and upon impact, blood gushed forth, splattering the ground and staining it a grotesque new hue.

Trailing the black shadow, a human figure burst from the smoke, vaulting several meters high to land on the wyvern’s knee, before launching themselves upward a second time.

After these swift, fluid movements, the figure’s forward momentum finally decelerated, allowing the distant You to clearly discern their features.

It was Wang. She had not suffered the slightest injury from the wyvern’s devastating impact!

Wang now positioned herself beside the wyvern’s massive neck, extending her right hand to grasp the black streak—the longsword she had just wielded.

The blade, already embedded deep within the wyvern’s throat, was abruptly driven forward by the force of its master’s right hand, instantly elongating the crimson wound.

The wyvern’s inferior scales proved unable to withstand the strike; the scaly armor around its neck, in particular, seemed pitifully fragile.

In the next instant, Wang leaned forward, retreating from the wyvern’s body, her sword still clutched in hand.

The crimson glow that emanated as she swung her sword, juxtaposed against the darkening sky, cast an ominous, deeper shade.

The very soldiers who, moments ago, had both revered and feared the wyvern, now stood with ashen faces and gaping mouths, watching the colossal creature collapse, accompanied by a rain of blood.

The wyvern’s corpse plummeted to the earth with a resounding *THUD*, landing precisely within the deep crater it had created, as if settling into its own self-made grave.

Slaying the wyvern had been a mere incidental act for Wang; her true priority lay elsewhere.

In truth, Wang had intended to use the dust and smoke stirred up by the wyvern’s impact to mask her movements.

Without the obscuring smoke, she would have been unable to utilize those twenty seconds to gather the elemental energies pervading the sky and channel them into her impending attack.

As this was to be a sudden, decisive strike, Wang needed to create a diversion, to find the perfect moment to conceal her true intentions.

Initially, Wang had believed such an opportunity would be elusive. Yet, to her surprise, her adversaries had inadvertently presented her with this golden chance just as she began to fret.

“There’s a saying in my homeland… ‘It is rude not to reciprocate.’ Now, accept the gift I have prepared for you!”

Still suspended in mid-air, Wang moved her longsword, raising the blade upwards in a reverse-slash motion.

The sky above them was now fully consumed by thunderclouds, where streaks of lightning slithered like colossal pythons.

Moments after the thunder and lightning erupted, several arcs of light manifested around Wang, drawing intensely concentrated lightning elements to cascade from the heavens, converting into a volatile surge of thunderous power.

Wang had always been incapable of using magic directly. Her only method was to employ her sword as a catalyst, drawing forth vast quantities of surrounding natural elements.

When she had annihilated the Pegasus Knightage yesterday, the elements released through her sword had been fire, which quickly transformed into a raging inferno.

While fire was undoubtedly her forte, it was not the only element at her command! Lightning, too, was within her grasp.

Wang’s greatest proficiency lay in controlling both lightning and fire elements, with the concentrated power of the former being undeniably superior.

A torrent of thunderous power, like a raging sea, immediately surged towards her sword.

A dazzling, dark golden brilliance instantly enveloped the sword’s surface, all within a single breath.

Simultaneously, crackling arcs of electricity surged incessantly around the summoner’s body.

As Wang neared the ground, her longsword aimed directly at You and his companions. The blade’s radiance pulsed, driving the lightning forward, and with a brilliant flash, unleashed its power!

The roaring torrent of lightning had not yet reached You’s vicinity when he was overcome by an intense sense of alarm.

He shouted, trying to alert the three men beside him, who remained oblivious to the impending danger.

“Defend yourselves, quickly!”
