Join the ServerIn the early hours of the morning, while the sky was still shrouded in darkness, Wang awoke.
Her sleep had been sound, though the Nun beside her had certainly suffered.
Even in her sleep, Cai remained wary of the girl behind her, the one who could “turn into a wolf” at any moment.
Her heart pounding with tension, her descent into sleep had been an arduous one.
By the time Cai finally managed to coax herself into slumber, night had already transitioned into the early morning hours.
After waking from her sleep, Wang Xiaole spent some time observing Cai.
‘No chance during the day,’ Wang thought, her voice a whisper, ‘but now that the silly woman is asleep, I can get a closer look… She’s actually quite pretty!’
For the sake of commerce, Wang had interacted with others quite frequently.
Yet, a human girl like Cai, one who maintained such close proximity, was undoubtedly one of a kind.
For this reason, Cai was special to Wang.
In Wang’s heart, Cai was a rare presence, which naturally fueled Wang’s curiosity.
Even though they were both girls, Wang found herself drawn to experience Cai more intimately.
Wang placed her palm over Cai’s face, savoring the soft, yielding texture, like dough mixed with water.
Concepts like social etiquette could never impose any restraint on her.
She had grown up in an environment far removed from her own kind.
To her, then, the standard for deciding what could and could not be done depended entirely on her own conscience.
For instance, allowing her subordinates to harm innocent people—such a thing Wang could never do.
Because once such a thing was done, the conscience in her chest would throb with a dull pain.
But doing something like, while a girl was asleep, using her own hands to feel the other person’s soft skin…
Such a thing, she could do without any psychological burden whatsoever.
And at such a moment, that conscience, which always came into play at critical junctures, seemed to vanish, as if dissolved into her very bloodstream…
It was quite interesting to note.
Up until now, Wang had only ever done such things to Cai!
As her face and other areas were caressed, Cai’s complexion inevitably flushed.
At this moment, the breath exhaled from her lips also became noticeably more moist than before.
“Oh, I thought the silly woman wouldn’t have any interesting reactions,” Wang mused. “Sure enough, even with that annoying thing around your neck, you’re not some emotionless stone doll!”
Knowing when to stop was one of Wang’s few virtues.
She knew that if she continued to tease, Cai would soon be jolted awake by the external stimulation.
Wang felt that nothing worth anticipating would happen by then, so she chose the most opportune moment to withdraw her right hand.
Withdrawing her hand was akin to “hiding the evidence.” Wang, a criminal who never considered herself one, then began her cunning act of deception.
She got out of bed, changed out of her pajamas into her original animal hide clothes, and calmly walked to the window.
With a soft ‘click,’ the window, which had been tightly shut, now swung fully open.
Bathing in the fresh air, the girl’s quiet sigh—’It’s good to be alive’—echoed softly through the room.
With nothing else to do, Wang began the sit-ups she performed every now and then.
The precise form of her movements was hardly important.
In any case, this action would undoubtedly prove crucial later on.
As the number of sit-ups increased to thirty-nine, Cai on the bed slowly lifted her eyelids.
It was hardly surprising that the young woman tended to overreact.
After all, any woman, finding herself in the room of a stranger she had only known for a day, would naturally be particularly concerned about her safety.
After Cai sat up, she carefully checked her clothes, finding no obvious signs of disarray.
This was, of course, to be expected; Wang would never commit the amateurish error of failing to return undergarments to their original position.
Although Cai found no signs of disarray on her clothes, she still felt a lingering unease and turned to see what the other person was doing.
Wang, at this moment, was lying on her back on the carpet for the purpose of exercise, her crossed arms repeatedly lifting and lowering her upper body.
Cai could tell:
Those beads of sweat were certainly not something that could be feigned; the possibility of faking exercise was immediately ruled out.
And looking at the person’s eyes, her gaze was unwavering and pure, utterly different from the lecherous glint of yesterday.
What appeared in Cai’s eyes was merely a radiant young woman, diligently exercising and breaking a sweat in the early morning, as the sky hovered between dawn and darkness.
She couldn’t help but think to herself:
‘Did I misjudge this person?’
A main reason Cai had been wary of Wang was due to her utterly improper behavior the day before.
But now?
She regretted having arbitrarily labeled someone simply because they had once behaved immodestly.
“I’m sorry!”
Wang, in the midst of her exercise, heard the cry and, in the instant she lifted her head, turned to look.
She saw Cai walk over from the bed, picking up a cloth to wipe sweat from the table along the way, her fingers carefully pinching a corner as if afraid to wrinkle it.
“Your composure last night overturned my prejudice,” Cai declared. “I’ve decided to get to know you anew!”
Cai, barefoot, half-crouched before Wang, then stretched onto her tiptoes to hand over the cloth.
Only then did the height difference between the two become strikingly apparent.
Wang glanced at the cloth and took it without a word.
The cloth’s purpose was, of course, to wipe sweat; a few drops had just emerged on her forehead, carrying away some of her body’s heat.
She was utterly unaccustomed to such a harmonious and perfectly resolved storyline.
Shouldn’t a conventional and normal plot involve Cai, after a thorough inspection of her pajamas, finally discovering some incriminating clues?
Immediately after, Cai would come forward to question her, subtly probing for information, and soon after realize the truth…
If the plot had truly unfolded that way, Wang would have had numerous ways to cope, such as playing dumb and feigning ignorance.
But what was the situation now?
A young girl stood beside her, her eyes wide with apology, sincerely offering a small cloth for wiping sweat.
What did she look like in comparison?
Wasn’t this a prime example of someone utterly devoid of conscience, maliciously deceiving a naive and easily fooled young girl?
Such a comparison inflicted immense harm!
‘Damn it,’ Wang thought, her voice a whisper, ‘my conscience just *had* to start aching at a time like this…’
“Huh, what are you saying?”
“I said today’s exercise is pretty much done.”
Wang pressed her chest for a moment, patting the area a few times as a warning to her ‘conscience’ for its ill-timed appearance.
It was a coincidence, perhaps, that if Cai had encountered a genuinely kind-hearted girl, the latter might have confessed her misdeeds under the torment of her conscience.
But Wang was not such a person; her conscience, for her, could only serve as a temporary restraint.
After that brief period of discomfort, Wang’s demeanor returned to normal, still looking far from benevolent.
Having finished her sit-ups, Wang naturally folded her previously joined legs, propped herself against the window, and accurately tossed the towel onto the table.
“Silly woman awake? Perfect! Time to give you today’s task.”
