Chapter 29: The Terrors of Feline Obsession

A cold shiver ran down Votila’s spine.

Was this girl truly a dog? Or had she simply picked up such canine habits from spending too long with that lonely hound? Why did she, like Gasla, take such pleasure in licking cats?

Is this truly how all humans behave when their desires go unfulfilled?

Votila felt so utterly wronged, it was as if his very form was distorting.

This feline obsession was utterly terrifying!

Yet, what was this devilish comfort that made a cat like him yearn to succumb?

If this continued, his entire cat existence would be utterly ruined! Pleasure? That was simply impossible!

This girl could not be allowed to stray further down this path of ‘cat sickness’!

He had to stop her! Before she, like Gasla, covered his face in drool, he needed to quickly find a way to make her snap out of it!

A cat owner who only knew how to ‘pet cats’ was nothing more than a colossal piece of societal waste!

Clink!

His claws extended from his paw pads.

‘Forgive me, little girl! Now, wake up!’

Votila raised a paw, intending to deliver a sharp scratch to the furiously petting girl.

However, as he looked up, his gaze met her clear, blue eyes.

For some inexplicable reason, he suddenly found himself unable to strike.

“Nana~” the girl said with a sweet smile. “What are you trying to do?”

‘I wanted to scratch your face a few times to make you sober up.’

‘Wait! You were conscious all along!’

‘So! You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You did it on purpose! It must have been on purpose!’

“Alright, Nana~” The girl cradled the black cat’s face. “One last thing, a good morning kiss.”

‘Get lost!’

In the end, the farce concluded with three new cat scratches appearing on the girl’s hand.

As for why the scratches were on her hand and not her face…

Votila simply couldn’t bring himself to scratch a girl’s face.

***

During breakfast, Votila did not give Gasla a single pleasant look.

That dog had caused him to run into the mountains in the middle of the night, not only encountering a dangerous witch but also nearly losing his life to wolves.

Had he not cleverly led the wolves to the witch, he likely would not have seen the morning sun.

Even now, the thought made his blood boil.

Gasla lay on the ground, looking wronged, his ears drooping, shrinking desolately under the table.

Too much had happened yesterday, so much that Votila still hadn’t fully grasped the situation; the entire rhythm of his dragon life was in chaos.

‘Truly reckless, Creator. Did you even consider the protagonist’s feelings?’

The sudden appearance of alchemical golems, the enigmatic witch, the mysterious girl who claimed to be a “Wise Dragon,” and the town ravaged by dire wolves.

Votila summarized all the information he had gathered since his rebirth.

Suddenly, he reached a very serious conclusion.

Even staying in this seemingly peaceful town, various troubles would inevitably arise.

What irritated him most was that “alchemical golem”…

His former body had been dissected by alchemists; this was an undeniable fact.

Votila never actively sought trouble, but the hatred of being killed once could not be easily forgotten. He would absolutely not allow those wicked people to wantonly trample and use his bloodline.

Whenever he recalled his bloodline being used in that kind of monster that day, he felt particularly disgusted.

He would settle the scores with those alchemists, one by one.

And that girl who called herself a “Wise Dragon”—though he didn’t know why, Votila could draw some power from her to restore his energy.

Still, Votila also longed to cross swords with her again, to ruthlessly pin her to the ground and make her understand what a true “Wise Dragon” was. He would repay that sword strike.

And most importantly… that last dragon slayer.

Never would Votila forget that weather-beaten face, the heavy blue-silver armor covered in golden runes, and the golden holy sword capable of tearing through a giant dragon’s scales.

That man, known as “Panlong.”

One day, Votila would personally twist his neck.
