‘While I did say I wanted to get stronger quickly, after a morning of cramming knowledge, I feel incredibly lazy.’
Votila suddenly found himself nostalgic for his days as a dragon. Back then, he didn’t have to worry about anything; a dragon’s body would naturally grow stronger, simply by consuming energy, until it reached the limits of its rank.
“What’s wrong, Rinna? Don’t you want to grow stronger?” the girl asked, her face alight with anticipation.
Votila stared silently at Mulee Hua. The girl’s eyes brimmed with expectation.
‘This girl, just like Gasla, really just wants to play, doesn’t she?!’
Yet, gazing at the girl’s sparkling eyes, Votila couldn’t bring himself to refuse. Indeed, he found it impossible.
In his helplessness, Votila could only gesture with his paws towards the girl. ‘Alright, alright… class it is, but can you please let go of my tail?! It hurts so much! I feel like it’s about to snap, ow, ow!’

To train a pet, one must first begin with understanding. It is essential to know its habits and characteristics.
While a black cat might seem like a common small creature, Votila was no ordinary housecat. To truly comprehend Votila’s unique traits, the first step should logically be to determine his exact species.
On the bookshelf, a thick tome titled *Compendium of Common Magical Beasts* lay open. Mulee Hua had perused it many times. The types of common feline magical beasts were not numerous, yet none matched the black cat.
No feline magical beast possessed such high intelligence and self-awareness as the black cat.
Had Mulee Hua not failed to detect any magic or life energy beyond the limits of a normal black cat, she might have suspected him to be one of the ‘divine beasts’ often spoken of in novels and legends.
Thus, Mulee Hua could only conclude that the black cat was a new type of mutated magical beast.
Though she remained ignorant of the black cat’s species and characteristics, this did not dampen the girl’s enthusiasm. She led the black cat and the fierce dog to a vast, open grassland just outside the town, beside the small river that flowed through it, ready to commence their formal training.
“Rinna~” Mulee Hua extended her hand toward the black cat, who was squatting on the open ground. “Come on, give me your little paw.”
Votila’s face was etched with displeasure, yet he obediently extended a furry front paw. His soft, squishy paw pad rested gently in Mulee Hua’s palm.
“Extend your claws,” the girl said softly.
*Clang!!*
Votila’s claws shot out fiercely from his paw pads. Their sharp edges hadn’t even touched the girl’s palm, yet she already felt a faint prickling sensation within her hand.
“Claws are five millimeters long, with signs of frequent replacement,” the girl remarked, a hint of surprise in her tone. “Rinna, did you injure that golem with these claws?”
‘Hey, hey, are you looking down on me that much?! I mean, I did scare you back then…’
Suddenly, an inexplicable murderous aura washed over him, and Votila dared not pursue that thought further.
He abruptly recalled that this girl seemed to possess a soul secret art similar to his own.
‘No, this girl’s secret art seems only capable of transmitting, not receiving, right?’
Votila felt a flicker of suspicion. ‘Or perhaps, this is what they call a human girl’s intuition.’
Mulee Hua squeezed the black cat’s claws, then lightly brushed her fingertip across one. But with just that gentle touch, a small cut appeared on the skin of her finger.
“The hardness is about three times that of an ordinary black cat, and the sharpness is about five times. This is already comparable to a pseudo-treasure level. Claws of this caliber are already top-tier even among mid-level magical beasts.”
Mulee Hua couldn’t help but exclaim, “Rinna, what kind of magical beast are you? If your body weren’t so frail, with these claws, your attack power wouldn’t be much weaker than Gasla’s.”
Votila couldn’t help but roll his eyes. ‘Excuse me for being so weak.’
The girl released Votila’s paw. “Rinna, besides using ‘Rending Claws,’ do you have any other abilities? Show me.”
Rending Claws was a common skill for most magical beasts, and the primary attack technique for feline magical beasts.
‘Hmm…’
Votila buried his head in thought, then cast a resentful glance at Mulee Hua.
“I see, I understand,” Mulee Hua nodded, then pointed to a distant tree. “Rinna, try attacking that tree. I want to see the specific power of your claws.”
‘Eh… is that really necessary?’
Votila was filled with questions, but seeing the girl’s serious expression, he could only brace himself and comply.
He moved his legs, broke into a sprint, his fingertips trailing a moon-white gleam, locking onto the tree trunk as his target.
*Swish!*
His young claws crisscrossed, immediately leaving three shallow claw marks on the tree trunk.
The black cat was not satisfied with this.
‘Not enough, again!’
His hind legs pushed off the ground with a sudden burst of power, and the moon-white gleam converged on the tree trunk once more.
*Swish swish! Swish swish! Swish swish!*
After Votila broke two more old claws, a gash several centimeters deep finally appeared on the tree trunk.
‘Meow, that hurts.’
Votila licked his trembling paws; there was even a tiny trace of blood between his digits.
This was the first time Votila had used his claws continuously with such high intensity. Even when dealing with the golem, he had primarily relied on guerrilla tactics.
