Chapter 27: Accusing Her of Being an Irresponsible Heartbreaker

“My things are yours.” Shi Zhiyu’s voice was low and affectionate, filled with indulgence. “If I have money, then you have money.”

Tang Shu let out a dry laugh. “Brother, are you telling jokes?”

She didn’t dare spend a single cent of that money recklessly. In the end, it all had to be returned.

These were merely gifts given during the mission. She absolutely couldn’t accept them with a clear conscience. If things went wrong and she was somehow accused of fraud and sent to a police station, that would be the biggest misunderstanding in history.

Shi Zhiyu replied seriously, without the slightest trace of humor.

“I’m not joking. Didn’t my mom give you the black card before?”

Only then did Tang Shu remember.

When she had visited the Shi family, Qiao Yaxin really had personally handed her an unlimited black card.

But it had been far too valuable, far too intimidating. She hadn’t dared accept it and had obediently returned it.

“She did,” she answered softly.

“Then just take it and spend whatever you want.” Shi Zhiyu’s tone was casual yet domineering. “I can afford to support you. No need to save.”

His straightforward pampering stirred something in her heart.

Unable to resist, she teased him.

“Brother, are you trying to keep me as your sugar baby?”

“Supporting a college student? That storyline is way too exciting.”

On the other end of the call, Shi Zhiyu laughed softly.

“What kind of random nonsense is going through that little head of yours every day?”

Tang Shu’s mouth moved faster than her brain.

Without thinking, she sweetly replied:

“I’m thinking about you, Brother!”

The moment the words left her mouth, she slapped a hand over her lips.

Oh no.

My mouth moved too fast!

Can’t this stupid mouth stay shut for once?

But Shi Zhiyu seemed especially pleased.

His deep laughter flowed through the phone, warm and affectionate, sending a pleasant shiver through her ears.

“Mhm. I miss Shu Shu too.”

Just that simple expression of longing, paired with his lazy, magnetic voice—

All of Tang Shu’s grievances, frustration, and bad mood instantly disappeared.

The evening breeze drifted through the window.

The entire room felt wrapped in tenderness.

Listening to the young man’s gentle breathing and laughter through the receiver, her ears felt numb and tingly.

She was practically melting.

Unable to help herself, she teased softly:

“Brother, your voice sounds way too good. If you entered the voice-acting industry, you’d definitely become super popular.”

Shi Zhiyu’s smile lingered.

“I’m not interested in other industries. I only want to focus on making my Shu Shu happy.”

“My voice sounds nice because I only use it for you.”

Damn it.

How is Shi Zhiyu so good at this?

Aunt Qiao had clearly said he’d never dated before.

But this man could casually drop sweet talk one line after another.

How was he supposed to be some innocent beginner?

Tang Shu lightly bit her lower lip, her ears burning.

“Brother, you’re so good at saying romantic things. Have you secretly had lots of girlfriends before?”

There was a brief silence.

Then a lazy chuckle spread through the line, making her entire body tingle.

“From beginning to end, I’ve only ever dated you.”

“The only person I’ve ever liked is you.”

“In this lifetime, and in every future day that follows, there will only ever be you.”

The scorching confession hit her head-on.

Tang Shu’s heart skipped a beat before pounding wildly.

The sound was so loud she could hear it herself.

Panicking, she dove beneath her blanket and buried her entire face inside.

The trapped warmth surrounded her.

Her cheeks burned fiercely.

This is bad.

Shi Zhiyu is way too good at this.

If he keeps flirting with me without any restraint, will I eventually stop being able to tell the difference between a mission and genuine feelings?

When the time comes… will I be unable to let go?

She hurriedly shook her head.

No.

She couldn’t think like that.

Shi Zhiyu was born exceptional.

His family background, appearance, and abilities were all outstanding.

How could someone like him genuinely fall for an ordinary girl like her?

All the affection and sweet words now were probably just temporary excitement.

Once the novelty faded, everything would return to normal.

There was never going to be a future for them.

After a long while, she finally suppressed the turbulence in her heart and spoke from beneath the blanket.

“Brother, that’s not right.”

“You’re so outstanding and dazzling. In the future, you’ll definitely meet a girl who matches you perfectly in every way.”

“She’ll be thousands of times better than me.”

The instant those words left her mouth, Shi Zhiyu frowned deeply.

The tenderness in his eyes vanished, replaced by faint irritation.

He had been pouring his heart out.

Hadn’t he made himself clear enough?

Why did this girl keep trying to push him away?

Why did she always want to hand him over to someone else?

Was it because he hadn’t given her enough security?

Or had she simply never intended to accept him?

Shi Zhiyu softened his tone.

“Shu Shu, every word I’ve said is sincere.”

“My future partner can only be you.”

“And will only ever be you.”

“You’re not allowed to think about throwing me away.”

“Otherwise, I’ll really cry for you to see.”

Tang Shu immediately burst into laughter.

A ridiculous image popped into her mind.

The dignified, aloof crown prince of the Shi family clutching her leg pitifully, drooping-eyed as he cried and complained about her.

Accusing her of being an irresponsible heartbreaker.

The contrast was so strong that it was both hilarious and adorable.

All the gloom and confusion in her heart vanished instantly.

Her mood brightened completely.

“Alright, alright. I won’t push you away.”

“But then Brother has to keep his word too.”

“You’re not allowed to regret it or back out later.”

“I always keep my promises,” Shi Zhiyu said firmly.

Then he added leisurely,

“You know my home address.”

“You know my parents too.”

“If I ever treat you badly in the future, just go back to the Shi family and complain.”

“My parents will always take your side.”

“They liked you a long time ago.”

“They’ve always wanted to keep you around and treat you like their daughter.”

Tang Shu’s heart warmed.

She thought of gentle Aunt Qiao and kind Uncle Shi.

Her chest softened.

The Shi parents had always treated her extremely well.

They often thought about her.

They had even kept a room exclusively for her in their home.

Everything they did was thoughtful and considerate.

Without thinking, she blurted out what was genuinely in her heart.

“Then maybe I should just become Aunt Qiao’s daughter.”

“That way I could still call you Brother, and everything would work out perfectly.”

The next second, the young man’s voice turned cold.

His face darkened instantly.

“No.”

“I’ll only be your lover-brother.”

“I absolutely refuse to be the brother in a sibling relationship.”

Lying on the bed, Tang Shu swung her dangling legs and deliberately teased him.

“Don’t you want such a cute and obedient little sister like me?”

“You can be my little lover-sister.”

A flash of inspiration suddenly struck Tang Shu.

A new comic idea instantly appeared in her mind.

She quickly grabbed the notebook beside her bed and began scribbling furiously.

Living under the same roof.

Brother and sister in name.

Secret lovers in reality.

Mutual love restrained and suppressed.

The tension in that setup was incredible.

It would definitely be a hit.

Through the phone came the distinct scratching sound of her pen moving across paper.

Shi Zhiyu sounded puzzled.

“Shu Shu, what are you writing?”

“Recording inspiration,” Tang Shu answered casually.

Shi Zhiyu didn’t understand.

What inspiration?

After finishing her notes, Tang Shu glanced at the time on her phone.

She asked softly:

“Brother, isn’t it getting late over there?”

“Shouldn’t you be getting ready by now?”

The sound of running water came from the other end.

With a toothbrush in his mouth, Shi Zhiyu answered indistinctly:

“I’m already up.”

“I’m brushing my teeth.”
