Chapter 47: A Luxurious Setup

Back then, her uncle had been worried that she wouldn’t be used to living in a dormitory while attending university. Since she had a home in Jiangcheng, he had quietly paid in full for an apartment for her.

And coincidentally, it was in Qingyun Apartments.

She rarely came here, so she had almost completely forgotten about it.

Tang Shu took out the access card she’d left unused for ages and lightly tapped it against the security sensor.

Beep—

The entrance unlocked smoothly.

There were countless coincidences in this world, yet somehow, every single one of them seemed to happen to the two of them.

She took the private elevator directly to the designated floor.

When the elevator doors slowly opened, she was greeted by a luxurious layout with only two apartments on the entire floor.

The door on the left was clearly marked:

1801.

And the door right beside it on the right was:

1802.

Tang Shu stared in utter disbelief.

Her heart was already in turmoil.

Shi Zhiyu’s apartment was 1801.

And the apartment her uncle had given her was actually right across from it—

1802.

What kind of fated connection was this?

All she had to do was open her front door, and she could run straight into him.

And once she graduated and moved out of the dormitory to live here permanently…

Wouldn’t they see each other every single day?

They could bump into each other anytime, anywhere.

A tiny sense of anticipation quietly rose in her heart, though she also felt a little nervous.

Tang Shu lightly knocked herself on the head.

Okay, I’m getting way ahead of myself.

She pulled her gaze away from the door of 1802 and entered the door code Shi Zhiyu had sent her.

Beep.

The lock clicked open, and the door swung inward.

The apartment was completely dark.

Tang Shu gently closed the door behind her, turned on her phone’s flashlight, and let the faint beam sweep across the spacious living room before reaching for the light switch on the wall.

Warm white light instantly flooded the entire apartment, allowing her to see the place clearly.

The apartment was enormous.

Its interior was decorated in a minimalist gray-and-black style, with a cool, sophisticated atmosphere. The furniture had clean, simple lines, and the spaciousness made the place feel almost empty and cold.

At this hour of the night, there was even a faintly intimidating sense of solemnity to it, as though the entire place were silently telling strangers to keep their distance.

Tang Shu looked down at her shoes, hesitating over whether she should take them off before entering.

Or perhaps she should wear Shi Zhiyu’s slippers.

She opened the shoe cabinet.

Inside was a brand-new pair of pink, soft-soled slippers.

She took out her phone, intending to ask whether she could wear them.

But before she could type anything, several voice messages from Shi Zhiyu popped up.

God of Wealth: 【Shu Shu, the cat tree, cat bed, cat toys, and everything else have all been installed and arranged. You can just put the kitten there.】

God of Wealth: 【I’ve had someone prepare everything the kitten needs. The empty area beside the living room is specifically set aside as Little Shu’s own little territory.】

God of Wealth: 【It’s damp and rainy outside. You’ve probably gotten some rain and moisture on you. Once you’ve settled the kitten, go take a shower and change out of your wet clothes first. Don’t catch a cold.】

His clear, cool voice echoed through the empty apartment.

For a moment, it felt as though Shi Zhiyu himself were standing right there, gently reminding her what to do.

Tang Shu lightly touched the screen with her fingertip, her heart overflowing with warmth.

She bent down and took out the pink slippers.

They were incredibly soft.

Putting them on, she walked into the spacious living room.

The lights illuminated everything brightly.

At a glance, she spotted the meticulously prepared area beside the window.

There was an enormous solid-wood cat tree, a soft enclosed cat bed, a complete set of ceramic food and water bowls, and all kinds of little toys.

Everything was there.

The space was spacious, clean, and incredibly well-equipped.

Tang Shu lowered her head and looked at the little orange kitten curled obediently in her arms.

She smiled, her eyes curving into crescents.

“Little Shu, your home is ridiculously luxurious. Look at this huge space—it’s all your own territory.”

As she spoke, she gently placed the kitten onto the soft mat.

Then she took out the cat food she’d just bought, poured some into its bowl, and filled the water bowl with clean water.

Looking down more carefully, she realized that quite a bit of rainwater had indeed gotten onto her shoulders and sleeves.

The damp fabric clung uncomfortably to her skin.

Tang Shu crouched down and gently stroked the kitten’s soft fur with her fingertips.

“Little Shu, be a good kitty and eat your dinner and rest here. I’ll come back to see you later.”

The little orange cat seemed to understand her.

It raised its head and rubbed against her fingertip before lowering its head and beginning to nibble at the cat food.

After settling the kitten, Tang Shu quietly left the living room.

She changed back into her own shoes, turned around, walked out of 1801, and gently closed the door behind her.

Then she walked over to the door of 1802.

She entered the code she knew by heart.

Beep.

The door unlocked.

The moment she stepped inside, a gentle warmth enveloped her.

It was completely different from the cold, hard gray-and-black minimalist style of 1801.

The entire apartment was decorated in a warm and cozy style.

Soft furnishings in warm colors created a gentle, soothing atmosphere.

There wasn’t the slightest hint of coldness or oppression.

Just looking at it made her feel at ease.

This was the little home her uncle had prepared for her long ago.

A warm little nest that belonged entirely to her.

Tang Shu entered, turned on the lights, changed her shoes, and walked straight into the bedroom.

She took out a set of soft, comfortable pajamas from the wardrobe.

Outside, the night was deep and dark.

The clock on the wall had just reached ten o’clock.

It was too late to keep traveling back and forth, so she simply decided to spend the night here.

After taking a shower, she was just about to dry her hair when—

Her phone suddenly rang.

The crisp ringtone sounded especially clear in the quiet room.

She picked up the phone, swiped to answer, and spoke softly.

“Hello, Brother. What’s wrong?”

Shi Zhiyu’s low, gentle voice came through the phone.

“Have you arrived home and settled everything?”

Tang Shu hugged a soft pillow against her chest as she leaned against the headboard.

“Mm, I’m here. Little Shu is all settled too. It’s eating cat food obediently right now.”

There was concern hidden in Shi Zhiyu’s voice.

“Did you change out of your wet clothes? Did you catch a chill? Any dizziness or feeling cold?”

“Don’t worry. I just took a hot shower, so I’m completely warm now. I’m perfectly fine.”

Shi Zhiyu paused before slowing his voice and patiently reminding her,

“It’s too late now, and it’s raining heavily outside. There aren’t many people on the roads, so it’s not safe. Don’t bother going back to the dormitory tonight.”

“The sheets and bedding in the apartment bedroom have all been freshly changed. Just stay there tonight without worrying.”

Tang Shu quietly listened to his string of thoughtful reminders and softly replied,

“Okay, I know.”

But inside, she couldn’t help marveling at how unbelievably coincidental everything was.

If her uncle hadn’t prepared this apartment across the hall for her, tonight she really would have been stuck deciding whether to brave the rain and return to the dormitory or reluctantly spend the night in Shi Zhiyu’s apartment.

That was his private residence.

Sleeping in his bed without warning would ultimately feel inappropriate.

And once their agreement expired and they went their separate ways, it would become incredibly awkward.

As for Little Shu, she could order some affordable cat supplies online when she had time and come back on the weekend to move the kitten into her own apartment.

The setup wouldn’t be as luxurious as Shi Zhiyu’s, but at least the kitten would have somewhere to stay.

There was no response from her for a long while.

Shi Zhiyu was half leaning against his office chair, his fingertips casually tapping against the desk.

He chuckled softly.

“Why isn’t Shu Shu saying anything? What are you secretly thinking about?”

Almost instinctively, Tang Shu blurted out,

“I’m thinking about you, Brother~”

A soft, delighted laugh immediately rippled through the other end of the phone.

“Really?”

Tang Shu’s ears grew hot.

Embarrassed, she quietly repeated,

“Of course it’s true.”

Shi Zhiyu deliberately drew out his words, pretending to tease her.

“You’re saying that rather smoothly. Have you said that to other people before?”

Tang Shu immediately straightened her back and clutched the pillow tightly, hurriedly defending herself.

“No! I only say things like that to you, Brother.”

“Is that so?”

Shi Zhiyu changed the subject, slowly asking,

“Then, Shu Shu… have you ever dated anyone before?”
