Join the ServerDongfang chuckled, gesturing with her finger toward the innermost room. “You’ve asked the same question Wanxing did. This tea… it’s only available when I have control of the living room. If you want a drink, you’ll have to help me.”
Jiang Xiaoyu was certainly interested in tea that could boost his mental energy.
His current situation at school wasn’t great; he’d offended the Sports Squad’s physical aberrations, and he was still too weak. That was precisely why he’d bought so many supplies at the Matchmaker’s store—to have a fighting chance against them.
But relying on items was only a temporary fix. If he ran into tea that could enhance his mental energy like the living aberrations did, there was no way he’d pass it up.
“Tell me first, how do you want me to help?”
Dongfang smiled lightly. “It’s simple: take me out to hunt aberrations. Once my cultivation surpasses Lengyue’s, you’ll have all the Fire Dragon Flower tea you can drink every day.”
Jiang Xiaoyu pondered this. It sounded easier said than done. “Slaying demons and eliminating evil is a good thing, of course, but the question is… where are we supposed to go hunting? I’ve only ever read about this stuff in novels…”
Dongfang stared at Jiang Xiaoyu as if he were an idiot. After a moment, she gave a wry smile. “I forgot. You’re blind.”
Jiang Xiaoyu immediately bristled. “We’re talking business here.”
“Jiang Xiaoyu, haven’t you realized that this place you’re staying in is a land of ghosts and monsters?”
Jiang Xiaoyu’s interest piqued: “Dongfang, don’t say that! I actually just figured it out! This Huangshan Vocational
Institute is a secret base for training Future Warriors. The people here all cultivate supernatural energy—but it’s not the kind of ‘aberrations’ you’re talking about.”
Dongfang found herself both annoyed and amused. She set her teacup down and crossed her arms. “You can’t see, so a lot of things are just your own imagination. This school is a world of aberrations, not some base for training Future Warriors.”
Jiang Xiaoyu shook his head. “No, no, no. Technology is advancing; if you don’t keep up for three days, you’re obsolete. This is a new major; it’s even been reported in the news.”
Dongfang smiled, deciding not to argue. “Fine, I won’t debate you. How about this—if any aberration tries to make a move on you, just summon me, and I’ll handle it. How’s that?”
“There’s such a good deal? Well, I definitely won’t say no. But… how’s your strength?”
“Strength-wise? About the same as your ‘fake’ cousin. And my attributes give me a special damage bonus against aberrations. When it comes to handling ghost-things alone, I’m much stronger than her.”
Jiang Xiaoyu didn’t believe it. “You mean Xiaoqi? She’s so quiet and gentle; how could she fight?”
Dongfang sneered. “Right, right, she’s ‘quiet and gentle.’ Let me put it another way—I’m about on par with that teacher who helped you summon me.”
“Teacher Zhao Lu?”
“Mhm.”
“Then she’s definitely a bit fierce. Even though I haven’t seen her summon any ‘Future Warriors,’ she is a Summoning Department teacher after all; she must have a few tricks up her sleeve.”
Dongfang shook her head in silence, muttering to herself, “Being blind is truly terrifying…”
Jiang Xiaoyu didn’t catch her mutterings. He shifted his seat and said, “Dongfang, you haven’t finished telling me about Wanxing. I’m still carrying the weight of being her lover, after all.”
Dongfang placed her teacup back on the table, crossed her arms, and leaned back into the sofa, as if trying hard to recall something.
“When Wanxing left 1314, she went to a place called the Primordial Realm. She mostly spent her time there seeking masters and making friends, living a cozy life. Until one day, she stumbled back, completely changed—her body was half-black and half-white, her aura was chaotic, and it looked like she was on the verge of death. And… well… her appearance wasn’t something you’d want to look at closely. The more you looked, the more gruesome it became.”
Jiang Xiaoyu felt increasingly uneasy. This didn’t align at all with what Dongfang Yueli had said.
Dongfang Yueli said she had the Light-Dark constitution since birth, not that she mutated later. This is clearly not the same person.
He probed cautiously: “Is it possible that when you leave 1314, you’re reincarnated, and only return after you turn thirty?”
Dongfang immediately rolled her eyes at him. “How is that possible? I’m not sure about Wanxing, but Lengyue and I both hail from ancient aristocratic families. How could we just reincarnate at will? Besides, what mortal vessel could possibly withstand our bloodline?”
Jiang Xiaoyu gasped. The timelines didn’t match, and the identities didn’t match.
Dongfang Yueli said Dongfang and Lengyue were her Dao Seeds, but Dongfang says they are descendants of independent ancient families—who on earth is telling the truth?
“Dongfang, keep going.”
Dongfang nodded. “While Lengyue and I didn’t particularly like the lazy, gluttonous Wanxing, she was still a fellow traveler tied to our destiny—a companion exploring the secrets of 1314. So, we used our respective powers to help her stabilize her body. Who would have thought… once she recovered, this ingrate turned around and started driving a wedge between Lengyue and me.”
“You were saving her life, how could she start stirring up trouble?”
Dongfang sighed “The world is full of bustle for the sake of profit; Lengyue and I weren’t exempt from that. When we helped Wanxing stabilize, the excess energy in her body could be fed back to us. So… she used that as a bargaining chip, taking the opportunity to pull Lengyue to her side and isolate me, finally leading to a catastrophe where the power in 1314 became unbalanced.”
Jiang Xiaoyu’s thoughts were in chaos. Subconsciously, he still felt Dongfang Yueli’s version was more reliable, so he asked: “Dongfang, don’t get mad at me for asking, but have you considered the possibility?”
