Join the ServerTeacher Kuang Lang couldn’t watch any longer and immediately reprimanded them sternly: “Xiaoqi’s energy is in complete disorder; she undoubtedly needs urgent medical attention. None of you should be adding to the chaos, or don’t blame me for being impolite.”
Jiang Xiaoyu trotted over with Xiaoqi on his back and bowed. “Thank you, teacher. Thank you, teacher.”
Kuang Lang nodded, turning his attention to Liu Yang: “Jiang Xiaoyu’s supernatural power isn’t high, and I’m worried other students might try to block them on the way. Liu Yang, go escort them home.”
Liu Yang agreed readily without hesitation and hurried over.
Just then, Xu Tian spoke up.
His tone was leisurely, carrying an uncomfortable, mocking smile: “Teacher Kuang Lang, according to the rules, the Class Seven classroom belongs to our Math Squad this afternoon. For Jiang Xiaoyu to step into the classroom as the Foreign Language Squad Leader is equivalent to showing up to challenge our turf. Since Xiaoqi is unconscious, I, as the Math Squad Deputy Leader, am assigning Wang Xingxing to have a friendly spar with him. That’s completely reasonable, right?”
Kuang Lang flew into a rage: “Rules are rules, and human decency is human decency! Her cousin is just here to visit his cousin, not deliberately coming to cause trouble! Get your facts straight!”
Xu Tian sneered, adding unhurriedly: “I only recognize the rules! If Teacher Kuang Lang forces me to ignore the rules, I’ll have no choice but to report everything that happened here, word for word, to the district leaders.”
Kuang Lang’s expression shifted.
Everyone in the entire Huangquan Institute knew that Xu Tian’s father was the deputy director of the district education bureau. Saying something like that was a clear threat to Kuang Lang. But… Xiaoqi had to be saved. He took a deep breath, turned to Jiang Xiaoyu, and said gravely:
“Jiang Xiaoyu, is it? By the rules, you really are crashing the turf, and Wang Xingxing is allowed to challenge you. To save Xiaoqi, you should just simplify the process and yield to Wang Xingxing, and that’ll be the end of it.”
Jiang Xiaoyu let out an “oh,” and immediately smiled at Wang Xingxing: “Classmate Wang Xingxing, my Jiang Xiaoyu’s supernatural power is lacking; I am definitely no match for you. Please show mercy—saving a life is like putting out a fire, it’s an extreme emergency.”
Hearing this, the Math Squad burst into roaring laughter.
One Algebra student remarked: “Damn it, acting like the Foreign Language Squad Leader, and he’s just a spineless coward!”
Another Algebra student chimed in: “Just wait. No matter how pathetic the Foreign Language Squad is, someone’s gonna step up and wipe the floor with him.”
A Geometry student countered: “Everyone cut it out. He’s doing this to save his cousin; I think he’s pretty damn manly!”
Liu Yang, meanwhile, cursed at the top of his lungs: “Damn it, don’t you guys have any sense of timing? Do you have any idea how good Xiaoqi usually is to you? When has she ever failed to share the spoils from the Aberration Forest with you?”
Wang Xingxing sneered: “I used spoils to trade for department rewards; did you ask if she wanted them? Spending a little loose change to build a good persona—who the hell can’t do that?!”
Jiang Xiaoyu had no time to entertain their mockery, treating it as nothing as he hoisted Xiaoqi onto his back and began to walk away.
As he walked, a fresh wave of roaring laughter echoed in his ears. He looked up and realized he had somehow ended up right back in the corner of the classroom.
Jiang Xiaoyu found a seat, gently laid Xiaoqi down, and squinted as he walked toward a smug-looking Wang Xingxing.
Wang Xingxing watched Jiang Xiaoyu approach, tilting his head to laugh at Xu Tian: “Senior brother, guess what… how do you think he’s gonna beg me?”
Xu Tian laughed heartily, and the rest joined in.
Teacher Kuang Lang clicked his tongue, wearing an expression of helpless exasperation.
Jiang Xiaoyu stopped in front of Wang Xingxing and looked at him. “Are you ready?”
Wang Xingxing sneered.
“To beat a trash like you, do I even ne—”
Gold-rimmed glasses materialized out of thin air on the bridge of Jiang Xiaoyu’s nose, and Wang Xingxing felt his vision blur.
Sensing something was terribly wrong, he hurriedly cast a random teleportation gate upon himself.
With a flash of the gate, Wang Xingxing vanished and reappeared instantly in the opposite corner of the classroom. Pointing in panic at Jiang Xiaoyu, he stammered out a string of “You, you, you.”
Jiang Xiaoyu walked over and hoisted Xiaoqi onto his back once more. “Xiaoqi, hold on just a bit longer. Your cousin is going to run fast now…”
Xiaoqi’s brows knitted together. The muscles in her forearms were spasming; it was clear she was enduring immense pain.
At that moment, with a sharp shriek, Wang Xingxing’s body suddenly split down the middle. Under his terrified expression, his entire form slowly dissolved into ash.
Teacher Kuang Lang was taken aback. When he turned his gaze back to Jiang Xiaoyu, his neck stiffened noticeably.
“The power of Light? An aberration can cultivate Light? Could he be the legendary Exorcist Aberration? This is going to be trouble! Big trouble!”
Xu Tian’s expression darkened as he stared at Jiang Xiaoyu, lost in thought.
Liu Yang and the others dropped their jaws so wide an egg could have fit inside.
Jiang Xiaoyu ran quickly toward the door with Xiaoqi on his back.
Just then, Xu Tian vanished in a blur. When he reappeared, he had flashed to Jiang Xiaoyu’s side, driving a dagger straight for Xiaoqi’s heart.
However, his movements had long since been locked onto by Jiang Xiaoyu’s mental energy. Jiang Xiaoyu abruptly dropped his stance while pivoting his body. The dagger brushed past Xiaoqi and buried itself deep into Jiang Xiaoyu’s shoulder, right beneath his collarbone.
Jiang Xiaoyu’s face remained expressionless as he grabbed Xu Tian’s wrist—the one holding the dagger—and shoved it upwards, instantly jamming the blade deeper against his collarbone.
Jiang Xiaoyu sneered: “I’ve been waiting for you, little rat. Remember to live honestly in your next life!”
As the words fell, gold light exploded across the bridge of Jiang Xiaoyu’s nose. Dongfang slashed down toward Xu Tian with a sword strike.
She suddenly let out a soft exclamation.
“The little rat ran away? That shouldn’t be. I get it—it was spatial teleportation. The old aberration over there saved him.”
At that moment, Kuang Lang’s angry voice rang out: “Have you all gone mad?! Jiang Xiaoyu, get out of here. This is for Xiaoqi’s sake. But you killed Wang Xingxing and gravely wounded Xu Tian—this isn’t over between us.”
Jiang Xiaoyu gave Kuang Lang a deep look. “Thank you, teacher.”
With that, he bolted away with Xiaoqi on his back. Along the way, sparse drops of blood dripped continuously from Jiang Xiaoyu’s shoulder.
Dongfang spoke anxiously within his consciousness: “Stop for a moment, I’ll cast a healing spell for you.”
Jiang Xiaoyu didn’t slow his pace, his voice grave: “Save your energy, save it for fighting later.”
Dongfang was startled: “Who?”
“Chen Hao! S-rank biological aberration cultivator.”
“Plant-type Light resistance is naturally high; we need a single strike to heavily wound him! Your mental energy is running low.”
“Alright, I’ll figure out a way to bait him into killing me, and you look for an opening to heavily wound him!”
Dongfang gave a firm “Alright.”
Jiang Xiaoyu carried Xiaoqi around the corner of the teaching building. The setting sun cast his shadow long against the ground.
“Dongfang, I kissed you, and I will take responsibility for you. But I’m begging you, put aside your grudges and save Lengyue.”
Dongfang was momentarily stunned, her speech turning stuttering: “What-what-what nonsense are you talking about! Lengyue and I have our differences, but that’s an internal matter. Now that a powerful enemy is at the gates, of course we unite against the outside. Besides… besides, when did we ever… I’m not even sure if you’re… if you’re…”
As they spoke, Jiang Xiaoyu had already bolted out of the teaching building. The sun was sinking below the horizon. Across the sports field, two silhouettes dragging something walked through the twilight—
Heading straight toward Jiang Xiaoyu.
“Dongfang! He’s here!”
“Let’s fight!”
“Fight!”
