Chapter 20: The Uncrowned King

Wherever Lord Lu the Great passed, people shrank away in terror, and the crowded sidewalk opened into a clear path.

Lu Renjia walked through with an everyday expression, paying no mind to the surrounding stares. After all, he wouldn’t stay long in this world. Based on current progress, he’d finish his mission and leave soon.

So why should he care about others’ gazes?

Just a bunch of NPCs. Lu Renjia had always treated this world like a massive online game.

As for life and death? A certain deity would always protect him… Unless some other monsters traveled upstream against the river of time, he couldn’t think of anyone who could take him down.

Accidents? Impossible. That deity was the strongest.

This was why Lu Renjia had been acting so fearlessly in this world.

“Look, isn’t that Young Master Jiang Yiran of the Jiang family?”

Lu Renjia heard the shout and walked past the crowd with a calm face. To him, any young master was just a tool to use for his mission.

Since the Jiang family was so clueless as to block his way, forcing him to take a detour, he thought, ‘It’s getting cold. Time for the Jiang family to vanish.’

“Mr. Lu, it’s Mr. Lu!” A group of burly men in black emerged from all directions, blocking his path. They bowed ingratiatingly and said respectfully, “Mr. Lu, our master would like to invite you to watch a good show.”

“A good show?” Lu Renjia observed them with a calm face. In his deep, unruffled eyes flickered a terrifying indifference, as if these men were nothing but slightly larger ants before him.

“Please, Mr. Lu, you must come,” the leading man said, recalling his master’s words. “I assure you, you will see our master’s sincerity.”

“Lead the way.”

The burly men secretly broke into cold sweat. At that moment, they felt as if their souls were being stared at by some monstrous beast.

“Make way for Mr. Lu!”

At the end of the road knelt Jiang Yiran, beside him stood Jiang Tian holding a whip. The former young master had lost his confidence and pride. The traces on his body, impossible to hide, showed he had indeed taken a beating.

His beautifully dyed silver hair had been shaved clean, and his expensive clothes replaced with street stall quality.

“Master Jiang, what is the meaning of this?” Lu Renjia frowned, glancing at the surrounding crowd, understanding that the other party probably intended to use intimidation.

But was Lu Renjia the type to care? He turned and walked away without a second look.

“Mr. Lu, please wait!” Jiang Tian saw that Lu Renjia was completely unmoved and felt a headache. Where had this strange character come from? Didn’t he understand social graces? Jiang Tian had been in the world for many years but had never seen such an unpredictable monster. Still, he forced himself to call out to the leaving Lu Renjia.

“Mr. Lu, I’ve taught this brat a good lesson. He won’t dare offend you anymore.”

“Oh.”

“Mr. Lu, the entire property of the Jiang family you asked for is all here.” Jiang Tian gritted his teeth, offering up the contracts he had spent half his life building.

Lu Renjia gave it a casual glance, then happily accepted it. It seemed only money could satisfy him.

“Mr. Lu, about this matter…” For a man of such caliber who had built a huge enterprise, money had long become just a number. What truly held value was far beyond what money could offer…

What mattered most was life, and more importantly, that extraordinary power!

Jiang Tian’s eyes lit up with greed. After witnessing such power, no one could remain calm. And now there was a chance to get close to it. That was why he had honestly handed over his fortune.

“Get lost.” Lu Renjia had barely glanced at Jiang Yiran the whole time. After all, for bugs, one stomp was enough. Why admire their death throes? No normal person would have such a mindset…

Jiang Yiran trembled, biting his lip hard. His past pride was shattered and laid bare for mockery, yet even that was refused. Such indifference could crush anyone’s self-confidence.

So… this was karma? Jiang Yiran finally felt remorse for his past sins.

One must know that karma and retribution are unpredictable. No one could guarantee what might happen in the next moment. Heaven and hell were separated by a single line, a single thought.

Everyone watching felt their fear of Lord Lu the Great deepen. Previously, they had only thought he could dominate the school. Now it seemed he had become the uncrowned king of this city. Who exactly was this guy?

Just as Lu Renjia touched his stomach, feeling he hadn’t eaten enough, and wanted to go to the cafeteria for a snack, a commotion broke out in the crowd ahead.

Annoyed, he didn’t expect someone in this school to be making such a scene. Didn’t they know his reputation as Lord Lu the Great? But he didn’t want to start trouble, so he quietly skirted around the crowd.

For these unknown young masters and misses, they would surely be talked about by everyone. Even without paying special attention, he’d probably run into them sooner or later.

Some people couldn’t be overshadowed, like a bird destined to break free, soon flying toward its own sky.

“Is that Bai Luomeng?” A cry came from the crowd. Those around were momentarily stunned, not noticing a terrifying presence approaching.

Bai Luomeng? Curious, Lu Renjia looked into the crowd. A girl stepped gracefully out of a luxury car.

Bai Luomeng wore a pearl-white satin dress, its layers like blooming lily of the valley. Every step swayed like a willow in a spring breeze, carrying a faint fragrance and the gentle charm unique to a woman.

Her long black hair fell from her shoulders like a flowing waterfall, highlighting her fair skin until it seemed translucent.

Her eyebrows were like spring water, a slight smile on her lips. Every turn held the agility of a maiden, like a princess from fairy tales.

Bai Luomeng alone was the center of attention. They held their breath, unable to believe that this celestial being was the same awkward Bai Luomeng from two days ago.

Now, this girl, with her beauty, figure, and the captivating aura at first glance, was a complete killer. She charmed everyone, regardless of gender or age.

Oh! Oh!

The crowd finally realized it was indeed Bai Luomeng, and stirred in disbelief.

Bai Luomeng ignored the onlookers. Almost the moment she stepped out of the car, her gaze locked onto Lu Renjia in the crowd. In her girlish charm was budding shyness and unstoppable anticipation.

‘Do I look good? Will you like me?’ Her eyes held only Lu Renjia, filled with a tenderness that could melt any tough man.

Then, the moment she saw Lu Renjia give an appreciative smile, Bai Luomeng’s joy and beauty made the crowd lose their minds.

So beautiful it was beyond words. Seeing her today, one would know that descriptions of peerless beauty weren’t exaggerated. Her beauty could topple cities, mesmerizing all.

So this was the current bearing of the future Moon-Swallowing Fox Lord? Lu Renjia was also enchanted, but upon thinking that this lucky fate was meant for someone else, he shook his head.

‘Forget it. She has her own destiny. I’m fated to leave this world. Better to forget each other than to cling on.’

Seeing Lu Renjia suddenly turn away, Bai Luomeng felt a tightness in her chest. The onlookers saw her, once like a spring flower, now like a woman with a heartache. Her sorrow infected everyone present.

Bai Luomeng followed Lu Renjia’s footsteps as she left.
