Chapter 23: The Perils of Public Teasing

Those two had just snuck in!

And Sister Yuan hadn’t noticed them at all?

Wasn’t that a little unreasonable?

If that were the case, what was the point of them dressing like Middle Eastern militants?

No, not Middle Eastern militants, but Gao Meiyou and Shi Meng, who had ostentatiously made their way to their reserved seats in the back row. The few patrons in the cinema were all drawn to them. It seemed no one could resist their curiosity about these two strangely dressed individuals, save for Shi Yuan, who was utterly engrossed in teasing Xiao Xi.

Confronted by so many gazes, Xiao Meng found herself unable to sit still. She lowered her head in dismay, trying her best to avoid the stares.

Yet, what difference did it make, akin to burying one’s head in the sand? Did she truly believe that if she huddled into a ball on her seat, no one would see her?

Fortunately, the onlookers weren’t overly concerned with why they were dressed like that. After a few curious glances at Gao Meiyou and Shi Meng, their attention quickly shifted back to the movie screen, which was about to begin, or to their phones.

A sigh escaped her lips.

Xiao Meng let out a breath, her heart still fluttering with unease. She looked up, a hint of complaint in her voice, and grumbled to Senior Sister Meiyou, “I told you we shouldn’t dress like this. It’s so weird… Sister Yuan will definitely notice us, won’t she?”

Senior Sister picked up her binoculars with a confident air, scanning in Xiao Xi’s direction. “No need to worry,” she assured. “Even if Shi Yuan were to notice us in these outfits, she wouldn’t recognize us!”

Xiao Meng nodded, half-believing, half-doubting. She then looked in the direction Senior Sister was observing. Ah… it was quite a distance away; she couldn’t make out what her brother and sister were doing at all.

Xiao Meng reached out, appealing to Senior Sister, “Ah, Senior Sister, let me have a look through the binoculars~”

Gao Meiyou decisively shook her head, refusing. “I haven’t adjusted them yet.”

A passerby nearby twitched their lips. ‘Watching a movie… with binoculars?’

‘Not only were these two dressed unusually, but their behavior was strange too! What should I do? Should I call the police?’

Just as the passerby was contemplating whether to alert the authorities, Senior Sister suddenly grew agitated. She slapped Xiao Meng’s leg and exclaimed, “Holy moly!”

Xiao Meng looked utterly bewildered. “What is it? What happened?” She was truly curious about what could possibly be going on!

“Shi Yuan is doing something strange to Xiao Xi!”

“Eh? What is Sister Yuan doing to Brother?”

“Slapping her thigh, that’s what! Slapping her thigh!” Senior Sister slapped Xiao Meng’s leg again, and declared, “The world is truly falling into moral decay! How dare someone do such a thing in public? Utterly shameless!”

Shi Meng wordlessly grabbed Senior Sister’s hand and held it firmly, as if to remind her that she, too, was a pervert who slapped thighs! ‘Are you just scolding yourself?’

“Cough, cough…” Senior Sister retracted her hand, explaining, “I was merely trying to remind you. It’s different, entirely different. Shi Yuan is *touching*, I am *slapping*.”

“Touching?” Xiao Meng could no longer contain herself. She snatched the binoculars from Senior Sister’s grasp and peered in Xiao Xi’s direction.

“Wuwu, Sister Yuan, please stop touching me like that, I beg you…” Xiao Xi pleaded, his face flushed, his head bowed. He prayed his sister would spare him.

To his dismay, Sister Yuan only smirked mischievously, intensifying her actions! Her hand even reached… a certain spot beneath his skirt!

“Xiao Xi~ You’re truly so small, so adorable~ Such a petite Xiao Xi, it seems you can only be a girl now~”

“I… I’m not someone who can *only* be a girl…”

“Oh? Is that so? How about… Sister Yuan checks if your development is healthy~”

Sister Yuan chuckled, utterly unconcerned that they were in a public place. Xiao Xi nervously glanced around. ‘This won’t do… There are still people around! Don’t just pull at my skirt for fun!’

He reached out and seized his sister’s fair, slender wrist, pulling upwards with all his might, hoping she would naturally release her grip.

Unexpectedly, his sister’s grip only tightened further… She began to wrestle with Xiao Xi, tugging downwards with force.

And so…

Up, then down.

“Holy moly!” A classic repeat, Xiao Meng also blurted out an expletive. This, this, this…

“What is it? What happened?” Gao Meiyou looked at Xiao Meng expectantly. Xiao Meng turned back, speechless. “They’re… they’re…”

“What are they doing?” Senior Sister grew even more excited. Xiao Meng’s face was pale, almost on the verge of tears. She mumbled something like, “I can’t quite see, but it’s so strange…” her voice trembling, without replying to Senior Sister.

Gao Meiyou couldn’t wait for Xiao Meng to compose herself. She snatched the binoculars back with a swift motion and resumed her observation.

“Holy moly!” Senior Sister’s face flushed crimson. Alright, it was indeed a bit blush-inducing at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it wasn’t so bad after all…

No wonder that kid Xiao Xi had been speaking so softly, almost inaudibly. It was his shy, stuttering murmurs that were distinct.

‘That fellow…’

“The world is truly falling into moral decay, a complete loss of virtue. Don’t worry, Xiao Meng, calm down for a moment; I need to observe a bit more.”

“Ugh~ She’s reaching, she’s reaching!”

“Ugh, ugh, ugh! Xiao Xi seems to be at his limit!”

“She’s eating it, she’s eating it!”

“Oh ho~ He’s gone to the restroom.”

“Ah, ah, ah, Senior Sister, stop giving a running commentary next to me! I don’t want to hear it!”

Shi Meng dejectedly covered her ears. Gao Meiyou turned her head curiously, a mischievous grin playing on her lips as she teased, “Aren’t they just eating popcorn? What did you think they were doing?”

“What do you mean? I clearly saw…” Shi Meng angrily patted Senior Sister, telling her not to joke around.

Senior Sister burst into laughter. “I was just teasing you; did you actually believe me? They were only tugging at his skirt. Xiao Xi, being quite sensible, quickly batted away his sister’s ‘demonic’ grasp. Then Shi Yuan changed tactics, continuously eating Xiao Xi’s popcorn, annoying him so much he made a ‘pee escape’ out of anger.”

“Hm?” Shi Meng took back the binoculars and looked towards her sister. Sure enough… Sister Yuan was still sitting in her seat, eating, while her brother truly seemed to have gone to the restroom.

“Ah—” Learning the truth, Xiao Meng let out a sigh of relief. Embarrassed and annoyed, she slapped Senior Sister again. “Honestly, Senior Sister, don’t play such tricks next to me! I take these things seriously.”

“Pfft~ Because Xiao Meng covering her ears and muttering ‘I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you, a turtle chanting sutras’ was just too adorable~”

But… Xiao Meng stared at Senior Sister, utterly speechless. ‘Didn’t she realize who the ‘turtle’ was referring to? Ah, this…’

“Wait a minute!” Senior Sister suddenly paused. She pressed her earphone, listening intently to the sound coming through.

[Hey, hey, hey, Senior Sister, what are you guys doing?! I’m almost at my breaking point with Sister Yuan’s teasing, and she keeps eating my popcorn! Can you please come up with some ideas quickly?!]

‘That’s Xiao Xi’s voice…’

Gao Meiyou nodded. She picked up her walkie-talkie and instructed, “We were too busy having fun just now. Don’t worry, the operation plan begins immediately!”

[Okay, okay, I’m heading back right away! Senior Sister, you absolutely have to help me come up with an excuse!]

After Xiao Xi replied, he went offline. Gao Meiyou and Shi Meng exchanged glances and quickly formulated an initial battle plan.

A moment later, the two observed Xiao Xi return to his seat and snatch back his popcorn. It was time for them to officially ‘go online.’
