Chapter 30: The Unexpected Uniform and an Impending Dilemma

“I truly hadn’t expected this; it’s simply too beautiful. After all, it’s just a very ordinary uniform.”

Having slipped into this female uniform, its origin unknown, Liu Xingluo couldn’t help but marvel at her own reflection.

She looked even more stunning than she had ever imagined, a beauty that felt almost unfair. Merely donning this simple uniform had transformed her into someone so captivating.

She dared not even contemplate how breathtaking she would appear if she were to try on her sister’s fashionable attire.

[Alright, it’s settled then. Once my sister is off work, I absolutely have to seek her out and see if she’ll let me try on some of her clothes.]

Considering she now possessed such an incredible body, it would be an utter waste if this uniform were the only clothing she could wear.

[Come to think of it, didn’t my sister want to confirm yesterday whether I had truly become a girl? It seems she completely forgot about it. Perhaps I should just confirm it myself. I’ve heard that a girl’s sensations are far more pleasurable than a boy’s.]

Regardless of her altered appearance, Liu Xingluo remained Liu Xingluo. With a boy’s heart still beating within her, she would not let this chance for firsthand experience slip away.

Yet, precisely as she shed her safety shorts, poised for a personal exploration, an ill-timed alarm blared from outside.

“You’ve got to be kidding me. Now of all times!”

Just as she was on the verge of success, the rift alarm shrieked.

With a sigh of resignation, Liu Xingluo reluctantly pulled her safety shorts back on.

Given ample time, her intention had been to revert to her original form after thoroughly examining her body.

However, with the alarm now blaring, she knew she had to make her way to the nearest shelter and find cover with utmost speed.

The time needed to shed the uniform, transform back, and don her regular clothes was, at this moment, clearly insufficient.

She had no choice but to head to the shelter in her current attire.

If given the choice, Liu Xingluo would have preferred no one see her in this state.

Showing herself to her sister wouldn’t bother her in the slightest, as her sister was her only family, a person before whom she could shed all inhibitions and truly be herself.

But strangers were an entirely different matter. Forget about a naked apron, she wouldn’t even want them to see her dressed as she was now, in this uniform.

[Perhaps… I won’t go to the shelter after all.]

Reaching the doorway, Liu Xingluo realized there was no longer any real need for her to seek refuge in a shelter.

Previously, she had sought shelters because she was merely an ordinary citizen, lacking the power to defend herself, and would have been easily slain if discovered by an alien beast.

However, her current self commanded enough power to effortlessly annihilate alien beasts. With such formidable strength at her disposal, what reason did she have to hide?

She might as well remain at home; it could even prove safer than any shelter.

As for whether she should engage in combat with the alien beast that would soon burst forth from the rift?

Liu Xingluo harbored no such desire.

Though as a child, she had once dreamed that if she awakened superpowers, she would surely defeat alien beasts and safeguard the world where she and her sister resided.

However, she had long since outgrown the age of enjoying passionate manga. Even if she truly awakened such powers, her sole desire would be to protect only herself and her sister.

As for everyone else, they could be left to the official professionals to manage.

Furthermore, having personally experienced combat with an alien beast, Liu Xingluo had gained a profound understanding of what battle truly entailed.

While she had felt little at the time, it was only upon returning to her normal life that she truly grasped the sheer peril of engaging in battle with an alien beast.

Compounding this, battling an alien beast invariably drained her stamina significantly; her very first encounter had left her unconscious for nearly a full day.

Consequently, Liu Xingluo would never choose to engage an alien beast in combat if she had any other option.

In light of all this, Liu Xingluo resolved to simply remain at home this time, waiting for the battle outside to conclude.

This particular situation, however, diverged significantly from previous occurrences.

Barely eight seconds after the alarm blared, a rift shimmered into existence above the street, revealing a multitude of ordinary citizens still caught outside, unable to reach safety in time.

Should there be no personnel capable of swiftly arriving to handle the alien beast nearby, it was likely these individuals would meet an unavoidable demise.

“Hey, isn’t that a rift? How did it appear so fast?”

Before long, among the scrambling crowds, some individuals spotted the prematurely manifesting rift.

Having received relevant education, they instantly comprehended the unfolding catastrophe the moment their eyes fell upon the rift.

With the rift now open, the alien beast’s arrival was imminent.

Panic immediately seized those who grasped this realization. An alien beast—a creature capable of effortlessly ending their lives—was coming.

If they failed to reach a shelter swiftly, they truly would be killed.

“Those at the front, move faster! Stop dawdling!”

“Hey, no pushing, no shoving!”

“Move aside! If you don’t care about living, I certainly do!”

Desperate to reach the shelter and preserve their lives, people jostled and shoved frantically forward, each attempting to gain entry before the alien beast fully emerged.

The disastrous consequence of this panicked rush was that, far from accelerating their entry, it resulted in a complete standstill outside the shelter, as someone was inevitably pushed down, blocking everyone’s path.

“What in the world is going on? What’s all that commotion outside, huh?”

The clamor from outside also drew Liu Xingluo’s attention. Stepping out to investigate the source of such a racket, she immediately understood the gravity of the situation.

Could it be true? The rift had manifested so rapidly.

The alarm had barely finished ringing, hadn’t it?

Even more alarming, a portion of the alien beast was already visible around the rift. From the massive claws clinging to its edges, it was clearly an enormous creature, likely to fully emerge into this world through the rift within mere seconds.

Meanwhile, the people on the street continued to push and shove. If this chaotic scene persisted, the impending alien beast would, without a shadow of a doubt, slaughter everyone present.

No, even before that, the sheer force of the alien beast’s descent alone would be enough to crush several individuals to death.

To avert such a catastrophe, she would have to prevent the alien beast from ever touching the ground, either by eliminating it mid-air or by deflecting it to an uninhabited location.

Yet, the alarm had only just rung, meaning the anti-alien beast unit was likely still en route. Even if they were already here, they would be powerless to prevent the creature’s landing.

Only psychics, whose strength vastly surpassed that of alien beasts, possessed the capability to accomplish such a feat.

But at a moment like this, how could there possibly be a powerful psychic nearby, capable of intervening?

[There’s no other option. I’ll have to intervene again.]

With the alien beast on the verge of emerging, Liu Xingluo cast all other concerns aside.

She couldn’t possibly stand by and watch the alien beast burst forth to slaughter the people on the street, could she?

Besides, she had no intention of engaging the alien beast in combat.

Her idea was to simply shove the alien beast back. If the rift could transport the creature into this world, then she should be able to forcibly send it back to the other side of the fissure.

Ultimately, as long as the alien beast didn’t land, that was all that mattered. As for anything else, she simply couldn’t afford to consider it at this moment.
