Chapter 69: A Hurricane Ride and a Frozen City

Under the impact of Reina’s high-speed ride, even with Liu Xingluo’s now-reinforced body, her brain still couldn’t withstand the strain and promptly shut down.

Her eyes rolled back, and she passed out completely.

Yet, even in unconsciousness, her hands remained clamped tightly around Reina’s waist, refusing to be thrown off.

Whether this was merely a person’s subconscious grasp for the nearest object in a moment of chaos, or Liu Xingluo’s final stubborn defiance before succumbing to unconsciousness, was anyone’s guess.

Regardless, she successfully arrived at their destination—or, more accurately, its immediate vicinity.

Any further would have been territory inaccessible to someone without superhuman abilities like Reina.

“Six minutes and fifty-three seconds. Successful arrival, Esteemed Liu Xingluo, please awaken; we have reached our destination.”

“Ah… ah? We’re already here? That’s good, but what exactly is going on with your motorcycle? Is that truly a motorcycle?”

Stirred by Reina’s call, Liu Xingluo finally regained consciousness.

Her first act upon waking was to complain about Reina’s motorcycle, whose speed defied all expectations for such a vehicle.

It felt as though Reina and her motorcycle could easily compete in a race on Mount Akina (TL Note: A famous mountain pass in Japan, known for street racing culture, popularized by the manga/anime ‘Initial D’).

“Of course. My [Hurricane Rider] is incredibly fast, isn’t it? I’ve poured a great deal of effort into it.”

“Which means it’s undergone extensive modifications, correct? In that case, I understand.”

If it had indeed been heavily modified, then such an absurd speed was perfectly justifiable.

Still, the topic of motorcycles had run its course; she hadn’t come here to discuss vehicles.

Her priority was to rendezvous with the other Superhumans and confront…

“What in the world is this now?”

The street before them was entirely encased in ice, a stark contrast to the perfectly normal area where they stood.

It was as if the street had been cleanly bisected, presenting two utterly distinct environments.

“Didn’t Minister Huang Yan (TL Note: ‘Minister’ is used here as a title for a department head or director, specifically ‘部长’ Huang Yan) tell you? This is the handiwork of the Evolved Beast that appeared this time.”

“That Evolved Beast possesses the ability to freeze everything around it, and the ice it creates is incredibly difficult to melt; even the flames of a Superhuman cannot thaw it.”

“They told me absolutely none of this.”

All Huang Yan had mentioned was that the Evolved Beast here was powerful and would require her to team up with other Superhumans to defeat it.

“Perhaps the situation was too urgent at the time for him to elaborate,” Reina suggested.

“But whether he told you or not, the outcome remains the same. Here, Minister Huang asked me to give you this. It would be quite a disadvantage to fight bare-handed, wouldn’t it?”

Liu Xingluo couldn’t fathom how Reina had produced it, but the woman somehow retrieved a sword from within the motorcycle and handed it over.

“What is this?”

Though it appeared to be a technologically advanced sword, Liu Xingluo sensed that it was far more than a mere blade; it likely possessed some special function.

“It’s a weapon designed to be infused with superhuman abilities to enhance attacks,” Reina explained.

“Given how difficult it is to find a suitable weapon for your particular ability, the Minister decided to let you use this for now.”

Liu Xingluo’s ability to extract and materialize the powers of Evolved Beasts was indeed challenging to apply directly in combat.

Sending her into battle unarmed would put her at a significant disadvantage, as the gap between fighting bare-handed and being armed was considerable.

Thus, this universal weapon, usable by all Superhumans, had been issued to her as a temporary solution.

“I see. Yes, having a weapon would certainly provide a considerable advantage in battle,” Liu Xingluo conceded.

“Please thank the Minister for me. I’ll go ahead and meet up with the others.”

“Wait a moment,” Reina interjected.

“Besides this weapon, the Minister also entrusted me with something else for you.”

Reina then produced a uniform from within the motorcycle and presented it to Liu Xingluo.

Liu Xingluo’s current attire was merely casual wear, clearly unsuitable for combat.

“Is this a uniform? It doesn’t look particularly cute, though,” Liu Xingluo remarked.

“But since the Minister wants me to have it, it must possess some special properties, wouldn’t it?”

Indeed, much like the sword, Liu Xingluo could sense the inherent power within the uniform.

“Yes, it is,” Reina confirmed.

“This uniform was specially designed for Superhumans, crafted in part from the salvaged remains of Evolved Beasts.”

“Aside from its superior flexibility and resistance to damage compared to ordinary clothing, it also enhances the wearer’s combat capabilities.”

“However, for you, the most crucial aspect is that wearing this uniform will verify your identity, preventing other Superhumans from mistaking you for an enemy and attacking you.”

Reina was somewhat aware of Liu Xingluo’s unique circumstances.

Unlike typical Superhumans, Liu Xingluo had gained her abilities through fusion with an Evolved Beast.

Consequently, she could be detected by Evolved Beast radar, making her vulnerable to attacks from other Superhumans who might be unaware of her true nature.

Such misunderstandings absolutely had to be avoided.

“That is indeed quite important,” Liu Xingluo agreed.

“I certainly don’t want to be mistakenly attacked by allies a second time.”

“Does the Minister have anything else for me? If not, I’ll go change now.”

“No, that’s all,” Reina replied.

“Once you’ve changed, hurry and rendezvous with the other Superhumans. I still have to pick up more Superhumans, so I’ll be departing now.”

Having delivered her instructions to Liu Xingluo, Reina sped off on her Hurricane Rider.

‘What in the world is with that motorcycle? Its speed is truly astonishing…’

Whether experienced firsthand or merely observed from the sidelines, the Hurricane Rider’s velocity remained terrifying.

But was now the time to dwell on such things?

She needed to change quickly.

“Lain, I’ll trouble you to hold onto my old clothes for now.”

Reina hadn’t provided her with any container for her discarded clothes, and simply abandoning them here would be a waste; Liu Xingluo had no intention of throwing away such nice garments.

Lain, who could reside within her shadow and had previously stashed numerous outfits there, was the perfect person for the task.

“Understood. I shall ensure these garments are properly looked after,” Lain affirmed.

Accepting the clothes Liu Xingluo tossed to him, Lain retreated back into the shadows.

[Come to think of it, does this uniform truly enhance combat power? I don’t feel anything at all,]

Having donned the uniform, she tried moving her body, yet sensed no significant difference in any aspect compared to before putting it on.

Was it because her own body was unique? Or perhaps because she was already so powerful that any combat enhancement was simply not noticeable?

Never mind, such details weren’t important.

After all, she was currently inhabiting the body of the Seventh Princess, which was inherently formidable; any combat bonus from the uniform was superfluous.

As long as the outfit could verify her identity, ensure she wouldn’t be attacked by other humans, and withstand damage in battle, that would be sufficient.

Now, she merely needed to rendezvous with the others and prepare to face her other “sister.”
