Chapter 74: Reinforcements Arrive

Despite the fact that her survival instincts had driven Liu Xingluo to unleash a level of power that forced Jidi to take her seriously, the situation remained grim.

After all, this explosive power was only temporary. If she couldn’t quickly defeat her opponent, her position would only worsen.

And as luck would have it, Jidi was exactly the kind of enemy that Liu Xingluo couldn’t overcome even with everything she had. Even the true Seventh Princess couldn’t defeat her—how could Liu Xingluo, who couldn’t fully utilize the body she was in, possibly succeed?

To make matters worse, Liu Xingluo had pitifully few skills. Apart from swinging her weapon to attack, she had no other offensive methods.

In contrast, Jidi could not only fire bursts of cold air from her palms to whittle down Liu Xingluo from a distance, but she could also create ice shields that blocked Liu Xingluo’s slashes.

After several exchanges, Liu Xingluo hadn’t managed to so much as scratch Jidi. Instead, the cold air attacks had drained most of her stamina. Now, she could only catch her breath and recover a bit of strength when Jidi wasn’t attacking.

“Damn it, that shield ability is way too unfair.”

Thinking back to how Jidi could automatically generate ice shields to block her attacks, Liu Xingluo felt sick. It was like cheating.

The main reason she hadn’t inflicted a single wound on Jidi was that ability. Even though breaking the ice shield wasn’t hard for her, the time spent breaking it was enough for Jidi to evade.

If only she had the same ability, that would be one thing. But after seeing Jidi use it for the first time, Liu Xingluo had tried to think about whether she could use a similar power.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t. It seemed that even though they were both princesses, each had a different ability. At the very least, the body of the Seventh Princess that Liu Xingluo was using didn’t have this ability.

Of course, there was another possibility. Maybe Liu Xingluo simply couldn’t use such an ability yet, since she hadn’t fully unleashed the body’s true power—no, maybe she hadn’t even released half of it.

Still, she had already expected that she couldn’t win even going all out. After all, Jidi was a princess who could destroy all of humanity with her power alone.

Aware of this, Liu Xingluo still chose to fight. She had a different plan.

[We’ve been fighting so fiercely for so long. The reinforcements should be here soon, right? If they don’t show up, I won’t be able to hold on much longer. Could it be that the higher-ups plan to abandon me because I’m a half-Evolved Beast?]

When she first arrived in this area, Reina had told her that she was going to pick up other Superhumans. Counting the time she’d been fighting Jidi, plus Reina’s insane driving speed, the Superhuman reinforcements should have already arrived. As long as they heard the commotion from the battle, they would surely come to check. Seeing her uniform, they would recognize her as an ally and come to help fight Jidi.

But considering that she was different from ordinary Superhumans—having gained her powers by fusing with an Evolved Beast, becoming a half-Evolved Beast—the others might not trust her. They might even want to use Jidi to get rid of her first, then take out Jidi themselves, thus completing the mission twice as efficiently.

If they really planned to treat her like that, Liu Xingluo wouldn’t just sit still and wait to die. She didn’t intend to die here. The moment she found a good opportunity, she would flee. As for the others, why should she care? Since they betrayed her, why should she treat them as comrades?

Meanwhile, at a construction site in another area, a young woman identical in appearance to them sat on a steel pipe, watching the battle.

“Interesting, very interesting. To think that my dear Little Sister and Sixth Sister would actually fight each other—how amusing.”

Having witnessed the entire battle between Liu Xingluo and Jidi, this girl let out her own commentary.

Calling Jidi and Liu Xingluo (in the Seventh Princess’s body) Sixth Sister and Little Sister, her identity was clear.

She was none other than the Fourth Princess, who had disappeared half a year ago to study the meetings—Huangquan.

“Your Holiness, do you need us to intervene and stop the battle between your sisters?”

A one-eyed man standing to her left asked. If she gave an affirmative answer, he would go to fulfill her wish even if it meant shattering himself completely.

“No. Don’t underestimate my sisters’ strength. Even if you are my most trusted guardians, if you meddle in the duel between princesses, you will end up shattered to pieces. Besides, even if we don’t act, someone is already on their way to stop them, isn’t that right? Let’s just watch from here and see what happens.”

Shifting her gaze slightly, in the frozen area, several people in the same uniform were rushing toward the region where her two sisters were fighting. If her guess was correct, they would likely support her Little Sister, who wore the same uniform, since they identified enemies and allies by clothing.

But speaking of which, why was her Little Sister wearing that uniform? Had she betrayed the old man like herself and chosen to side with humanity?

If so, then Sixth Sister must have come to punish her. If that was true, how interesting. She had thought that the old man had grown impatient and sent Sixth Sister to destroy humanity.

Back to Liu Xingluo and Jidi. Just as Liu Xingluo was struggling to hold on, the Superhuman reinforcements she had been waiting for finally arrived.

“Sorry for the wait. We’re here to support you. You should rest now. Leave the rest to us.”

The Superhuman reinforcements, upon arriving and seeing Liu Xingluo fighting Jidi alone, immediately joined the battle without a word, separating her from Jidi and shielding her behind them.

Fighting such a powerful Evolved Beast alone and holding out for so long must have exhausted her. Judging by the tears in her uniform, she had taken quite a few hits. It would be too much to ask her to continue fighting alongside them. She should rest for now.

Leave the battle with this Evolved Beast to them. It had killed many of their comrades, and they had long wanted to kill it and avenge the fallen.
