“The Seventh Princess and I still have some matters to attend to over there. Please rest assured, once we have concluded our business, we will join the Sixth Princess’s farewell tea party. We won’t keep any of Your Highnesses waiting for long.”
As Liu Xingluo was still pondering how to explain herself, Lain promptly spoke up, offering an explanation for their earlier misstep.
“I see. Well then, hurry along. I’ll head to the tea party and wait for you there.”
With Lain’s explanation, Yinlang said nothing further, turning and departing.
“Phew, that was a close call. Thank you so much just now, Lain.”
She was fortunate to have Lain by her side as such a capable assistant. Had Liu Xingluo faced that situation alone, she would undoubtedly have been exposed, and most likely, beaten soundly. After all, what sister would accept her sibling being possessed by another?
“There’s no need for thanks. After all, Your Highness bestowed a name upon me; performing such a small service is only natural. Moreover, compared to Your Highness’s benevolence, what I have done is still far from enough.”
‘I haven’t really done anything for him, merely given him a name. Is that truly so important to him?’ she mused. ‘I don’t understand it. Still, if the outcome is favorable, then it’s fine.’
“Alright, let’s go to the teleportation point then. By the way, Lain, I wanted to ask, regarding my sixth sister—if she were to go to the human world, would the people there be able to resist her?”
Having just learned this news from Yinlang, Liu Xingluo was immensely curious about the Sixth Princess, the sister whose identity she now inhabited, and just how powerful she truly was.
Though Lain had informed her that the combat prowess of a princess far surpassed that of a Legion Commander-level Aberrant (TL Note: A type of monstrous creature or alien beast in this context), Liu Xingluo had no concept of a Legion Commander-level Aberrant’s true strength, let alone that of a princess whose power dwarfed theirs.
While Liu Xingluo was currently one of the princesses, she had yet to fully unlock the potential of this body, leaving her ignorant of the true extent of her own power.
“They would be utterly incapable of resisting. Based on my observations of the human world, though thirteen years have passed and humanity has developed methods to counter and swiftly eliminate lower-tier Aberrants, they would still face a grueling struggle against a Legion Commander-level Aberrant. To speak of a princess, then, is entirely another matter. My estimation is that if they were to encounter the Sixth Princess, they would be effortlessly dispatched without even a chance to resist. Even those possessing superhuman abilities would likely prove insufficient in the presence of a princess.”
Upon hearing Lain’s assessment, Liu Xingluo’s expression grew considerably grim. Simply from his words, she could already envision scenes of humanity being slaughtered like mere livestock.
[Isn’t this absolutely terrible? If she goes to the human world, humanity will undoubtedly suffer trauma no less severe than that of the Great Void Catastrophe. No, I cannot let her go to the human world; I must find a way to stop her.]
Though the thought of preventing other princesses from entering the human world had taken root, Liu Xingluo was utterly clueless as to how to achieve this, possessing no relevant knowledge whatsoever.
As for seeking Lain’s help? It was uncertain whether he would even assist her. After all, if she, as the Seventh Princess, were to ask him to stop the Sixth Princess from going to the human world, it would make her appear far too suspicious. What on earth was she to do…?
“Your Highness, we have arrived. This is the entrance to the teleportation point.”
Even as she pondered a solution, Liu Xingluo had followed Lain to a tightly sealed doorway.
“Oh? We just need to open this door to go to the human world, right? Good, then let’s quickly… Huh? Why won’t it budge when I push? Is it a pull door, then? Hmm… no, it won’t pull open either.”
Setting aside the problem of how to prevent the Sixth Princess from entering the human world, Liu Xingluo attempted to open the door, eager to return to her familiar world. Yet, no matter how much force she applied, pushing or pulling, the door remained utterly unmoving.
‘Damn it, I’ve finally made it all the way here, so why won’t this door open?’
“Your Highness, no matter how much force you exert, this door will not open.”
Seeing that Liu Xingluo intended to continue her attempts, Lain had no choice but to inform her that this door was unlike ordinary ones; it could not be forced open by sheer strength.
If one were to ask why, this door had been created by the princesses’ Father (TL Note: A revered, divine figure, often referred to as ‘Father’ by the princesses) to protect his beloved daughters. After all, their desire to visit the human world was not a recent development; if this door were not properly guarded, the princesses might one day slip through into the human realm.
“Then how does one open this door?”
Knowing that brute force would not open the door, Liu Xingluo inquired about the method for doing so. If it was a door, there had to be a way to open it; even someone like Hidetaka Miyazaki (TL Note: A renowned Japanese video game director known for designing challenging games with intricate puzzles and often locked doors) wouldn’t create an impassable door, merely one with an overly complicated opening mechanism.
Moreover, the Sixth Princess was soon to pass through this very door to the human world, so it absolutely had to be openable! Having come all this way, she could not simply give up now.
“This door is protected by divine power; only divine power can undo its seal.”
Lain’s implication was that to open this door, there was no other way than for their Father to open it for them.
For Liu Xingluo, this method was, without a doubt, a death sentence. After all, the Father Lain spoke of had not given her, the Seventh Princess, any instruction to travel to the human world. Let alone opening the door for her. Go find him herself? Forget it; she might be recognized and instantly eliminated.
‘Damn it, am I truly doomed to remain here? To stay in this world forever from now on?’ The mere thought of being trapped in this world filled Liu Xingluo with dread.
Apart from her human self being utterly incompatible with this world inhabited by Aberrants, the one who had originally killed her and the true Seventh Princess was still within this imperial palace. If she were to remain here, she would undoubtedly be discovered to be alive and then be killed by her once more.
‘Is there really no other way to open this door? I’ve come all this way, only to be prevented from returning home by such a reason. This is simply too…’
*Click…*
Just as Liu Xingluo was sinking into despair, the door surprisingly swung open before her very eyes, revealing the passage to the human world.
“Eh? The door’s open? Is this for real? Didn’t you say only divine power could open this door?”
Perplexed by this unexpected turn of events, Liu Xingluo, utterly baffled, could only turn her head to look beside her. It was then that she understood why the door had suddenly opened.
“Indeed, only divine power can open it. However, I am a familiar (TL Note: A magically created servant or companion) crafted by the Divine One; naturally, I possess a portion of his power. Therefore, opening a door such as this is a trivial matter for me. Now, Your Highness, please enter. I shall accompany you to the human world.”
Lain, with his hand placed upon the door, was at that moment releasing a portion of the divine power bestowed upon him. The door, recognizing this power, had naturally swung open.
“Thank you, Lain. It truly was the right decision to have you by my side.”
With Lain’s assistance, Liu Xingluo could finally return home.
After expressing her gratitude, Liu Xingluo did not hesitate, leaping directly into the passage.
This passage, however, merely led to the human world; whether it would return Liu Xingluo to her specific city would depend entirely on her own luck.
Furthermore, returning from this point would, of course, open a rift in the human world. And what the appearance of such a rift would bring about, well, that hardly needs to be said.
