Join the ServerA few days later, during a break between classes, Lulu lay back in her office, sipping her tea with a triumphant air.
As a homeroom teacher, a Seventh-tier Mage, and an old student of the Headmaster, Lulu naturally enjoyed certain unique privileges. For instance, her own private office. To have such a spacious environment all to herself was truly a comfort.
Lulu could also secretly indulge in a few, ahem, rather private matters when alone in her office. For example…
Stealthily taking off her shoes.
Returning to her duties as a homeroom teacher, while her workload was considerable, her students’ intelligence was undeniable. Despite the slightly challenging curriculum, the pressure wasn’t overwhelming.
She was truly growing fond of most of the students in her class, especially the girls, who were all quite polite.
Except for…
The Little Demon King.
Alas~
The mention of the Little Demon King immediately brought a frown to Lulu’s face. If only the class weren’t so resistant to him.
Lulu had been covertly observing. In class and during breaks, a five-meter radius around the Little Demon King remained conspicuously empty. It had already been several days since school started, and various small cliques were forming among the students, yet he hadn’t exchanged a single word with anyone. If these social circles solidified, it would be incredibly difficult for him to integrate later.
What gave Lulu an even bigger headache was that even if the Little Demon King didn’t wish to interact with his new classmates, he hadn’t brought any small groups over from the preparatory class either. If he went through his entire school life without a single friend, how terribly lonely would that be?
Ah~ This was supposed to be her intention, after all. She should be tirelessly amused by tormenting the Little Demon King, but…
Why was she starting to worry about him now?
Lulu sighed, slipped off her high heels, and propped her shapely legs, clad in black stockings, onto the desk. Leaning back, she closed her eyes, letting her body relax. ‘Ah, this backrest is quite comfortable,’ she murmured with a sigh of contentment.
However, in the very next second, Lulu suddenly sensed that something was amiss. A gust of wind swept past her office door, yet she heard no footsteps. By the time she realized something was wrong and tried to sit up, she felt two small hands abruptly pressing down on her shoulders.
“Eek—”
The young woman cried out in alarm, her eyes flying open. Before her, the Little Demon King struggled to suppress a smirk.
“Teacher, it’s me.”
“Ugh…”
Lulu slowly exhaled, a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. ‘Help me, you scared me to death! It was just the Little Demon King after all.’
‘You rotten little brat! How can you be so mischievous, just like a little boy! Ah… wait, the Little Demon King *is* a little boy, hahaha… never mind then, that’s fine. At least no one saw me in that lazy state just now.’
‘Oh, the crucial thing now is that I… I just looked utterly terrified. That’s not a good sign at all. If this happens repeatedly, my parental authority will be completely lost, and the Little Demon King will only grow more fond of pranking me!’
‘What to do, what to do, what to do? I need to regain my composure!’
Lulu abruptly tried to break free from the Little Demon King’s grasp and stand, but to her astonishment, he pressed down on her shoulders even harder, pinning her to the chair. A Seventh-tier Mage, held immobile by a child seemingly weaker than herself! In her shock, Lulu even forgot to ponder the reason, feeling only… an escalating sense of humiliation.
“Release me at once, Xiu’er! Who gave you the audacity to barge in on your teacher so suddenly? You… how dare you?!”
Lulu outwardly questioned the Little Demon King with a calm demeanor. Hearing her, he regretfully released his hands. However, Lulu felt too awkward to stand up now, remaining in her comfortable yet utterly defenseless posture with her feet still propped on the desk. She watched as the Little Demon King lowered his head, speaking with a hint of dejection:
“Disciple merely saw how comfortably Teacher was resting and didn’t wish to interrupt your precious leisure time with my arrival. That’s why I didn’t make a sound when I entered. If I have offended Teacher Lulu, then… then I am sorry, Master.”
Ah…
Lulu fell silent for a moment. Seeing the Little Demon King looking so dejected, her heart inexplicably softened.
‘The Little Demon King… well, he’s just a child after all. A little mischief is quite normal, isn’t it?’
‘But I wonder if not punishing him this time will just make him push his luck even further in the future, ugh…’
‘Raising a child is truly a thankless task. No… no, I still need to establish my authority!’
Just as Lulu lifted her head, intending to put on a stern face, the Little Demon King’s eyes suddenly welled up with tears. As if days of accumulated pressure had burst forth, he abruptly sat before Lulu and began to cry.
“Waaah… Teacher, I… I’m sorry, it’s all my fault…”
“Oh, my, what’s suddenly happened? Xiu’er… don’t cry. Has someone been bullying you?”
Seeing the little boy cry, the mature woman immediately became flustered. She cooed and gently embraced him, asking softly. The Little Demon King shook his head, then began to speak:
“Everyone in class… they all isolate me. It’s my fault. It’s because my background is too ordinary, bringing shame upon you, Teacher. The truth is, the reason I accepted Claire’s challenge, even betting my expulsion, was because if I failed, I wouldn’t want to continue causing trouble for you…”
“Huh? What… what bet? You and that kid Claire made a bet?”
Lulu was momentarily bewildered by the Little Demon King’s words. He wiped away his tears, lifted his head, and nodded sadly before continuing:
“He forced me to bet with him on our first exam results. If I don’t do as well as him, then… then I have to drop out.”
Good heavens!
Lulu immediately bristled with anger. ‘Who? Who dares to make my disciple drop out? The Little Demon King is my little puppy; who else but me is allowed to bully him!’
After her internal outburst, Lulu suddenly pulled the Little Demon King into a fierce embrace, cradling the poor child against her. It was like a mother comforting an infant—or perhaps, it was more like the Little Demon King had pounced on Lulu while she was in her chair?
Lulu, however, failed to notice this detail. Her heart was simply overflowing with boundless pity for her disciple. ‘The Little Demon King is a good child. Though he was a scoundrel in his past life, in this one, he’s actually been very well-behaved. He just doesn’t quite understand matters between men and women, and he’s a bit mischievous. It’s me… I haven’t taken good care of him, and here I was, thinking of scolding him. I’m… I’m sorry. Go ahead and cry it out in Teacher’s arms.’
Yet, at this very moment, the Little Demon King, enveloped in a thick wave of maternal affection and pity, allowed a faint, triumphant smirk to play on his lips. A moment later, he nuzzled against Teacher Lulu’s ample bosom, then looked up, his eyes still glistening with tear tracks. Lulu’s face felt warm, but for some reason, she suddenly felt an invisible force that halted her thoughts. All she wanted to do was comfort the Little Demon King, just comfort the Little Demon King…
“Teacher Lulu! Are you in?”
Suddenly! The office door was abruptly pushed open from the outside.
