Join the ServerHearing his brother’s voice, Lu Fu’s train of thought was interrupted.
He looked up with a cheeky grin.
“Bro, you know I’m not suited to sitting obediently in an office all day.”
“Besides, you’re already managing the company just fine. I don’t want to go there and cause you more trouble.”
Lu Jianglian sat in the chairman’s chair and looked at him leisurely.
“No one is naturally suited to doing anything.”
“Bro, you can’t expect me to live up to your standards.”
“If that’s the case, how are you still standing here? I’ll send you back to school for a few years. We’ll talk after you get into A University.”
“I’m already twenty-three. If I go back to high school, won’t I embarrass you?”
Lu Fu tugged at his lips and casually picked up a packet of snacks from the side, opening it.
“Anyway, I don’t want to work. I just want to mooch off everyone and be a useless rich second-generation heir.”
He had absolutely no shame.
“If you don’t want to support me anymore, I’ll go find Second Sister.”
As he spoke, Lu Fu suddenly paused. Then he seemed to realize something and looked at his brother in surprise.
“Wait, Bro. Why are there snacks in your office?”
Lu Jianglian said, “They’re not for you. Buy your own if you want some.”
“When did you become so protective of your food?”
Lu Fu glanced at the empty milk tea cup in the trash can and suddenly understood.
His tone turned rather suggestive.
“Bro, you brought someone here? Your girlfriend? Do I know her?”
“But Bro, aren’t you being a little boring? You actually date in the office? What is this, a business meeting?”
“Bro, it really is your girlfriend?”
Lu Fu mysteriously leaned closer, his face full of gossip.
Lu Jianglian didn’t deny it. Instead, he asked about something else.
“The person you brought back to the villa. What’s your relationship with him?”
Lu Fu’s heart skipped a beat.
Afraid his brother had misunderstood and thought he’d started picking up random lovers like other people, he hurriedly explained,
“Bro, you’ve met him? Jiang Mian and I don’t have any relationship. I just brought him home because I felt sorry for him. We’re completely innocent!”
He didn’t want to get his legs broken. He was practically ready to raise three fingers and swear an oath.
“You know I like Qi Yu, Bro. I’ve liked him for a long time. If you hadn’t stopped me back then, you might already have a younger sister-in-law.”
The moment Lu Jianglian saw him, he got a headache.
“You know what the situation was back then. I couldn’t possibly let you go abroad alone.”
“I know you did it for my own good.”
Lu Fu nodded.
“But I haven’t finished. Jiang Mian really does look a lot like Qi Yu, but I know they’re completely different people. Qi Yu isn’t nearly as delicate as him. Say two words to him and he’ll start crying. If you dated someone like that, wouldn’t you go crazy?”
“And Bro, you don’t know this, but he deliberately approached me. His methods were just too clumsy. He doesn’t even know how to curry favor with people…”
The more Lu Jianglian listened, the more something felt wrong.
He glanced at Lu Fu and noticed that although Lu Fu’s mouth was full of complaints whenever he talked about Jiang Mian, there was an unmistakable smile on his face.
Lu Jianglian’s brows lowered slightly as he interrupted him.
“What did he approach you for? Because you’re simple-minded with a strong body?”
“Or because you’re an expert at eating, drinking, and having fun?”
Lu Fu was momentarily speechless.
A strange look appeared between his brows as he narrowed his eyes and studied his brother.
“Bro, why are you being so savage today? Are you in a bad mood? Did your girlfriend ignore you?”
Lu Jianglian’s expression remained cool and detached as he opened a file.
“You talk too much.”
Lu Fu was surprised.
“You didn’t deny it! I really have a sister-in-law?”
“Besides, that’s only because you’re my brother. I’m very aloof when I’m outside.”
Before Lu Jianglian could respond, Lu Fu pulled out his phone and took a picture of his own face. Satisfied, he rubbed his chin.
“At least I’m still handsome.”
He muttered to himself,
“A man’s good looks are the best dowry.”
Lu Jianglian said, “Enough. Remember what you said today.”
Hopefully, there really was nothing between them.
He found Lu Fu far too noisy.
“Go home. Don’t disturb me while I’m working.”
Although Lu Fu was accustomed to his brother’s workaholic ways, he still couldn’t resist teasing him.
“Bro, can your girlfriend really put up with this?”
“?”
Lu Fu poured the last of the potato chips into his mouth.
“All you ever do is work, work, work. You don’t even have time to keep your girlfriend company. Won’t she feel neglected?”
“What if she gets tired of being home alone every day, takes your money, and goes looking for male models? You won’t even have anywhere to cry then.”
Lu Jianglian said, “I’m pursuing her. We haven’t made it official yet.”
Lu Fu was even more shocked.
“Wait, you’re actually the one pursuing her? Is she a goddess or something? Can I see a picture? Maybe I know her. I can teach you how to pursue someone. My theoretical experience is pretty extensive…”
Lu Jianglian couldn’t be bothered to listen to his stream of nonsense. He waved his hand, telling him to get lost before he became an eyesore.
Seeing that his brother hadn’t told him to return to the branch company, Lu Fu immediately left without another word.
Once Lu Fu was gone, the entire office fell silent.
The lounge had excellent soundproofing, and Jiang Mian was still sleeping soundly.
At lunchtime, Lu Jianglian suddenly asked Jiang Mian whether he wanted to move out of the villa and live with him in the apartment he had bought nearby.
He even explained that the villa was too far from the company, making commuting inconvenient. And living alone in an apartment complex without any company would be lonely, so he hoped Jiang Mian could come and keep him company.
Jiang Mian didn’t find anything strange about suddenly living together. Without giving it a second thought, he nodded in agreement.
Lu Jianglian asked if there was anything he needed to move.
Jiang Mian thought about it and said there were only a few clothes he needed to bring.
Lu Jianglian had originally intended to send someone to pack everything and deliver it to the apartment.
But then, perhaps thinking of something, he decided to go back personally.
By the time Lu Jianglian finished packing all of Jiang Mian’s belongings, it was already seven o’clock.
Jiang Mian should be waiting at home. It was time to go back and make dinner, Lu Jianglian thought.
The moment Lu Jianglian left, Lu Fu returned.
“Why is it so quiet? Where did everyone go?”
Lu Fu had ridden back on his motorcycle. He took off his helmet without bothering to fix his messy hair and walked straight into the house.
He looked around.
Not seeing his brother was perfectly normal, but why was Jiang Mian nowhere to be found either?
“Where’s Jiang Mian?”
Lu Fu found one of the servants and asked.
Remembering what the eldest young master had said before leaving, the servant replied quietly,
“He’s already moved out.”
The eldest young master had personally come back to pack his things, too.
Lu Fu looked incredulous.
“He moved out?! When?”
What kind of development was this?
Could it be that he had misunderstood Jiang Mian?
Maybe Jiang Mian really was just a pitiful orphan who happened to be found by him when he couldn’t even afford enough food or warm clothes.
So all this time, had he simply been imagining things?
The servant said, “He moved out today.”
Lu Fu went to take a look at the guest room.
It was empty. Nothing had been left behind.
He rubbed his face and collapsed directly onto the bed.
“He really left…”
He had at least picked the guy up and taken care of him for a while. How could he just leave without even telling him?
What an ungrateful guy.
Lu Fu clicked his tongue irritably.
Fine. He had picked him up and dumped him at home without really taking care of him afterward, but at least he’d fattened him up quite a bit while he was there!
And he had left without even thanking his benefactor!
Lu Fu had only been lying there for a short while when his phone rang.
It was Xu Sheng.
“Brother Lu, I found out the information you asked me to look into!”
Lu Fu couldn’t even be bothered to put on a fake show of enthusiasm.
“Spit it out. Don’t keep me in suspense.”
