Chapter 60: Jiang Cha’s Inescapable Fate

Following Mortel’s advice, Jiang Cha had absolutely no plans to visit the Battle Club these past couple of days.

It wasn’t that she was rebellious, but the girl was very clear about the mindset of certain fun-seekers—when they suddenly offer you a suggestion that seems perfectly reasonable, you should seriously consider whether there’s some hidden risk involved.

More importantly, Jiang Cha currently had no real need to go to the Battle Club to hone her combat skills.

Compared to a few days ago, her strength had indeed made significant progress, but fundamentally her combat style hadn’t changed at all. She hadn’t learned any new magic, and the magic she developed herself had only advanced a little.

So she genuinely didn’t need guidance right now.

“Yo, isn’t this little Jiang Cha? Back so early? Not going to enjoy the holiday a bit more?”

But some things can’t be avoided just by wanting to.

Carol greeted her as if by chance, but standing right at her doorstep was no coincidence.

“I still have many academic shortcomings to address, so after dealing with some personal matters I came back as soon as possible, Mentor Carol.”

Jiang Cha feigned tired eyes but politely stepped aside. “Mentor Carol, would you like to come in? Though there’s not much to offer you, Heqin left some snacks and tea…”

“Ah, no need,” Carol waved her hand. “I just came to tell you to stop by the Battle Club tomorrow.”

“Surprise awaits!”

Looking at the malicious smile on her lips, Jiang Cha’s bad premonition grew stronger.

But a mentor’s words must be obeyed, so Jiang Cha could only grit her teeth and agree.

“I understand… I heard there’s a big shot who recently came to the Battle Club?”

“Not really a big shot, just a witch with some connection to our academy’s Battle Club. She occasionally comes to help guide students in her spare time.”

“Well then, I’ll be off. Remember to come tomorrow! Such an opportunity doesn’t come twice!”

“…Please take care.”

Every one of these witches was waiting to see how much fun they could have.

After Carol left, Jiang Cha immediately made her judgment in her heart.

But the very ‘pathetic’ part was that even though she saw through it, she still couldn’t escape this disaster.

“Sigh… what even is this?”

The girl sighed, tidied up, and continued reading with a big heart.

After all, there was no real life-threatening danger. At worst, if she really got dragged into this, it would just be some socially embarrassing death.

That thought lasted until the moment she stepped into the Battle Club the next day.

Originally, she didn’t sense Sun Taotao’s presence there, and Jiang Cha secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

She thought, “I must have overthought it. A sage-level witch wouldn’t bother with a little witch like me.”

Then, the next second, someone grabbed her.

“So this is Jiang Cha, huh? Hey, hey, I heard your combat style is pretty interesting? How about a match with your sister?”

“Ah ah, on second thought, forget it. Such a cute little thing, I can’t bring myself to hit you. What to do, so conflicted!”

Jiang Cha was quite certain she didn’t know this blue-haired, blue-eyed witch who looked as gentle as flowing water but gave off an endless dangerous vibe. Not just unfamiliar, she’d never even seen her before.

“Um… excuse me, may I ask who you are?”

The girl’s body stiffened, clinging to her last bit of hope, and weakly asked.

“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself.”

The blue-haired witch let go, the warm sensation leaving Jiang Cha’s side, revealing her face.

Very pretty.

Her delicate face didn’t fully match her mature figure—instead, it mixed a bit of childishness without looking out of place, like a well-endowed high school girl or a big sister who never quite grew up.

But the playful look in her eyes cast a mysterious and dangerous shadow over her.

Very captivating.

“I’m the Water Lord~”

No witch would ever have the strange name Water Lord; this was her title as a sage-level combatant.

For sage-level witches, titles often represent them more than their real names. Many witches share the same names worldwide, but a sage-level title like Water Lord is unique.

Thus, many sage witches prefer to use their titles when addressing others.

“Water Lord…”

Jiang Cha was momentarily unsure which sage this title referred to.

Then she remembered.

“Your contribution to ending the war commands my respect.”

“Oh, that’s nothing to mention. Actually, little Jiang Cha is even more impressive. Hehe, to think you could make that rock…”

This was the sage who, according to the news, destroyed a level 3 civilization alongside the Great Saint.

Only a few days had passed, and she was already back!?

Moreover…

Watching Water Lord smile cheerfully, Jiang Cha was quite certain she was here to find her.

‘No escape now.’

The girl sighed quietly.

“So, what about the Great Saint…?”

“Oh, that one still has some business to settle, probably coming next month… Haha, all just excuses! She’s shy and doesn’t dare come directly. She asked me to come first and scout things out. Little Jiang Cha, don’t be mad at her.”

‘How could I dare be mad at a sage?’

Jiang Cha internally rolled her eyes.

“Anyway, I already told Mortel I’d be your teacher during this time, so don’t waste time—come have a match with me.”

“Let’s see how strong you are.”

“I’m on the path of omniscience, you know? Senior Water Lord.”

“No problem. The omniscience path still involves fighting! And you’re dual-cultivation, right?”

Water Lord tilted her head, a little puzzled.

“Did that bastard Mortel lie to me?”

Jiang Cha: “…”

That’s why she hated war-crazed races.

And…

Damn it, her own master sold her out completely without so much as a hint!

That old bastard must be secretly having fun in the red-light district!

A sage-level teacher, helping her apprentice for free—this guy must be laughing his head off!

‘Master… I really wish you good health and longevity!’

Just before stepping onto the battle stage, the girl ‘viciously’ cursed inside.

“Yeah~ That’s the spirit. I always said, a kid favored by the Great Saint can’t just be a bookworm.”

Water Lord noticed Jiang Cha’s resentment but seemed to misunderstand its direction.

“Come on, don’t hold back. You can ravage me all you want, little Jiang Cha—well, as long as the Great Saint doesn’t mind.”

The blue-haired, blue-eyed witch stood unguarded across from Jiang Cha, casually saying things that sounded both tempting and irritating.

That innocent expression even made the girl momentarily unsure whether she was doing it on purpose.

But no matter what…

‘Sage’s guidance, gotta take this seriously, right?’
