Chapter 116: Welcome Aboard The Dragon!

A full life always seems to pass quickly.

After Shui Jun fitted a strange psychic device onto Jiang Cha’s mind—one that, at the cost of five sudden deaths, allowed her to surpass a witch’s limits and instill all the knowledge she was lacking—what followed was endless combat training.

For an entire week, Jiang Cha never left “full power” mode.

She didn’t know whether, once she regained her emotions, she could endure such hellish training.

In other words, if Shui Jun hadn’t known about Jiang Cha’s special innate magic, she wouldn’t have dared claim that the girl could learn her combat style in just one week.

A Sage-level combat style was not easy to learn.

Especially a style like Shui Jun’s, which integrated the entirety of her research into combat.
To learn her style was also to study her primary research achievements.

“This… feels like I owe a huge debt now…”
Jiang Cha rubbed her slightly throbbing head, still sore even after a whole day of rest, and let out a deep sigh.

She recalled Shui Jun’s knowing smile when her training had vaguely ended. She had a feeling that the “gift” she’d received this time wouldn’t be easy to repay.

But Shui Jun never said what her ultimate goal was. Jiang Cha could only bury her head in the sand and deal with these troubles later.

“Little one, do you think if I hand you over, I could repay this debt?”
She poked Heizi, who only ever appeared when nobody was looking, and chuckled.

But Heizi wobbled as if scared and immediately darted back into Jiang Cha’s body.

“Is this little one getting smarter?”
Jiang Cha scratched her head.

Although Heizi was her creation, its theoretical origins were a black box. In simple terms, Jiang Cha could use it, but didn’t fully understand its internal mechanics.

It was like ancient people, who couldn’t observe the atmosphere or environment directly, yet could, based on experience, summarize the twenty-four solar terms.
Much of Heizi’s creation theory was like that—Jiang Cha knew what it did, but not why or how.
She didn’t even understand how Heizi grew!

“Ah… why do I feel like I’m getting more and more troubles recently… senpai, what do you think?”
Jiang Cha sighed and looked at Mephist, who was cloaked around Violette, softly complaining in a small, gentle voice.

“I think it’s Jiang Cha’s fault.”
Mephist only smiled lightly.

“Eh—but I just want to study hard, improve every day, and become a well-rounded witch…”
“That’s probably fate,” Mephist said.

As an observer, Mephist could clearly see the special nature within Jiang Cha, but she couldn’t, or wouldn’t, say it.

Once a protagonist aura is pointed out, its effect diminishes.
A witch favored by the world itself cannot fully recognize that she is being favored.

This is a cognitive barrier—vaguely, it could be called fate.

With Jiang Cha’s talent, she could avoid overexerting herself, grow at a normal pace, and still reach her limits.
But she could never stop moving forward.

It could be attributed to her environment, or her personality.
Even witches had not fully researched the reason, but that didn’t stop them from summarizing the patterns and responding.

Undoubtedly, Jiang Cha was one of the witches favored by fate. On her path, whenever she lacked something, someone would appear to help. She would always have benefactors and never need to worry about luck.

Thus, Mephist remained silent.

“The Camilla Cup is held on Academy Island… not surprising, since that’s where most young witches are. The location is a bit remote, on the No. 1 Satellite Island near Academy Island.”

“We both don’t have broom licenses yet, so there’s no rush. Let’s just take this today.”

Last time they went out, Mephist had taken Jiang Cha on a bionic Pegasus carriage to show her the sights.

This time, however, the wealthy little heiress wasn’t going to use public transportation—she rented a dragon.

—A real dragon!

“Only now do I feel it—witches truly are one of the dominant races in the multiverse…”

A Level-6 dragon’s combat power roughly equaled a newly promoted Grand Witch. On Academy Island, that level of power barely caused a ripple.

Dragons have pride ingrained in their bones. You can kill their kin or form contracts with them. But if you enslave or disrespect them, the wrath of all dragons can destroy entire civilizations.

Yet for witches to widely use dragons as transportation, the dragons pretended not to notice.

Outwardly, it was because the dragons weren’t enslaved—they voluntarily signed labor contracts to earn legal income.
The real reason: dragons were simply scared to fight.

Despite being raised in the witch world and educated in the witches’ worldview, these dragons didn’t see a problem with earning a living as a mount.

Even the dragon Jiang Cha rode was especially humorous, like a chatty taxi driver, talking nonstop.

“Two lovely witch ladies, please hold tight—your dragon flight is about to take off~”

“This is my first time riding a dragon,” Jiang Cha whispered.

“Oh~ then you must try it more often. As long as you pay, dragon travel is the best option for witches—it’s also safer than Pegasus or little cats, which can’t even protect their riders.”

The dragon also threw a subtle jab at its competitors.

It had a point: riding a dragon was like bringing a bodyguard along. Very useful, especially for adventures or interplanetary travel.

But they had one major drawback:

“You’re too expensive. If it weren’t for senpai, I’d never choose dragon travel in my life.”
Jiang Cha shrugged and murmured.

“Hahaha~ our pride as dragons isn’t just in travel, you know?”
The dragon wasn’t offended. It winked and joked about its own worth.

Indeed, a Level-6 dragon’s material value was considerable.

Jiang Cha: “…”
She was momentarily stunned—never had a dragon joked about its own body parts before.
What kind of upbringing teaches dragons to view their own bodies as resources?

“Oh, in that case, a witch’s hair is just as high-grade a material as a dragon’s claws,” Mephist added with a laugh.

A dragon and a witch, perfectly in sync, laughed together.

Jiang Cha finally understood the dragon’s worldview.

—Damn, the witches’ education system really is messed up!
