Chapter 61: Suicune

She was ed.

After ten battles in a row, Jiang Cha was completely ed.

All along, she had thought that even if the difference in strength between her and her opponent was huge, she would never be beaten until she lost her will to fight. After all, her innate magic’s effects were nothing to scoff at.

But this time, even Jiang Cha at full power had been ed.

Suicune’s combat style… you couldn’t really call it disgusting — only hopeless.

That title really was spot on.
The blue-haired, blue-eyed sage lady actually didn’t use any shaping magic at all — not even the water-element branch of the shaping school.

And yet, her entire fighting style overflowed with the essence of water.

Suicune followed a path of dual mastery in mysticism and psychic magic. Her mastery of force fields was downright infuriating. Like the ocean itself — when you strike hard, she yields, but once your burst ends, the flowing magic refills the gaps, and her field returns as if untouched.

Meanwhile, her arsenal of psychic spells was vast and effortless.

No matter how Jiang Cha bombarded her — no matter what tricks she tried — Suicune’s force field simply flowed there, like water, absorbing every spell without fail.

“Senior Suicune, you’re not a Converted Witch, are you?”

Out of mana, Jiang Cha lay on the floor gasping for breath, staring up at Suicune’s ever-gentle smile. Even in her helplessness, curiosity bloomed.

Every Sage’s path and combat method were the culmination of their life experience. Jiang Cha couldn’t help but wonder — what kind of life could create such an odd style of fighting?

Like a succubus, every move seemed designed to drain the opponent’s last drop of strength.

“I’m a born-and-bred Earth witch, you know? Why do you ask?”

Suicune spoke while munching on a snack stick like a hamster, crumbs clinging to her cheek.

If you didn’t know her, you’d never believe that the gentle, dignified Suicune of legend actually had such an airheaded personality.

Yes — Jiang Cha was now sure of it.

That aura of dangerous allure?
Total illusion!

This blue-haired witch was basically Aqua incarnate.

“So, how did you and Senior Great Sage meet? I heard Converted Witches don’t really like to mingle with native-born ones.”

“Eh~? You’re calling her ‘Senior’? Shouldn’t the way you address her be a bit more intimate?”

Suicune blinked playfully, her mischievous smile almost asking for a punch.

Before the girl could protest, she continued:
“Because I was the one who brought that little monkey back. You have no idea — back then she was terrifying! Like a spiky hedgehog, an injured cub baring its fangs at everyone, lashing out at the slightest provocation.”

“Most Archwitches couldn’t handle her. I just happened to be nearby, and my fighting style countered hers, so they asked me to step in.”

“What happened to her?”

Jiang Cha suddenly felt a pang of sympathy and quickly asked — only to realize the question might be too personal. Her head lowered awkwardly.

“I don’t mind telling you, but honestly, I don’t know much myself.”

“All I know is that she seemed to have escaped from her own world. Not long after, she underwent Conversion. You know how it is — once you become a witch, the only way to learn about your past is to ask yourself… and with the Great Sage’s personality—”

“I get it.”

Jiang Cha nodded.

Even though the person herself never spoke about it, these few words were enough for her to piece together a rough idea.

After all… her title was Great Sage, not Sun Wukong or Fighting Buddha.

“Thank you.”

“No need for that.”

Suicune still smiled softly as she stood up and stretched.

“If you really want to know more, it’s better to ask her directly yourself…” She paused mid-sentence, sticking out her tongue sheepishly. “Ehehe~ Honestly, I was planning to help her improve your self-defense ability a little, but it looks like you might not need much help after all.”

Though Jiang Cha hadn’t managed to break through Suicune’s defense on equal footing, that was only natural — Suicune had decades of experience, while Jiang Cha had been practicing for far less. Their battle sense and refinement simply weren’t on the same level.

For someone her age, Jiang Cha was already an extraordinary genius witch — not to mention she was an Awakened Witch. Her future was limitless.

“Are you leaving soon, Senior Suicune?”

“Just call me Suicune. After all…”

Her expression turned sly, as if teasing Jiang Cha about her connection with the Great Sage.

But Jiang Cha knew very well — the Great Sage was the Great Sage.
Even though she carried the Monkey Girl’s memories, she was not the same person Jiang Cha once knew.

And honestly, Jiang Cha wasn’t in any hurry for romance.

In this brilliant world, having a partner might be wonderful — but it wasn’t essential.

The world was vast, and the girl truly wanted to see it all.

“I’m not leaving yet! It’s vacation time — vacation!”

“I’ve been busy for ages. I need a proper break too— Hey, Carol~! It’s fine if I stay on as a guest lecturer at the academy, right?”

“Go ask the Dean yourself.”

“Ehh—! I’m a Sage! Shouldn’t you people be thrilled to have me stay on as a mentor?”

“Does your research path even have a successor here? What’s the point of you staying?”

Carol rolled her eyes and shot back irritably.

Suicune’s field of study was extremely niche — built entirely around her personal talents. Teaching it to ordinary young witches would just lead them astray.

Since she couldn’t really pass on her true expertise, even a Sage like Suicune could only teach basic magic theory — which any High Witch could do better.

After all, those things had standard answers.
It’s like teaching a class of high school math students — even if you brought in a national-level mathematician, they wouldn’t necessarily teach better than an experienced classroom teacher.

Every craft has its masters.

“Tch~!”

Suicune pouted unhappily.

“Pfft~”

This time, the girl couldn’t help but laugh.

She had thought that Sages were all stern, ancient scholars — so when Suicune first approached her, she’d been worried.

But seeing this adorable side of her —

Jiang Cha’s heart instantly relaxed.

“What are you laughing at?”

“Nothing. I just suddenly realized… even Sage-level witches can be so cute in their daily lives.”

The girl sat up, tilting her head slightly to look up at Suicune.
Even though she was clearly the weaker one here, this way of talking didn’t feel awkward at all.

Suicune really was like water — gentle, soothing, and endearing.

“Everyone’s cute in their own way, really. Of course, there are some stiff and dangerous ones too — you know how witches are, we’re all a bit crazy.”

Suicune tapped her temple lightly.

“But most Sages aren’t that different from regular witches. Until you truly reach the realm of omniscience and omnipotence, all witches are equal — no one’s really above anyone else.”

“That’s something you should remember, little Jiang Cha.”
