How to Increase a Witch’s Aggressiveness?
Various master-level specialists in sub-professions all offered their own answers when asked how to deal with a magical girl’s special state called emotional balance.
“Emotional balance,” in simple terms, means that after killing too much, a witch becomes tired and enters a lazy state, while being idle for too long leads to boredom, making her want to go out and fight. This is a trait shared by all intelligent beings, but it is particularly pronounced in witches and sometimes irresistible, which is why it has become a subject of academic research.
Alchemist Masters came up with a solution after intense competition—a product called the Emotion Box. Its function is to treat emotions as a special form of energy. When not in use, the energy is stored in the box, and it can be retrieved when needed to adjust one’s state. The high-tech nature of this device is difficult for Jiang Cha to fully comprehend, but the masters promised that two small boxes could solve all your problems, with guaranteed lifetime maintenance.
Potion Masters created a similar solution, previously mentioned: a pair of potions, one to enhance aggression and the other to relieve soul fatigue. This is a classic example of a targeted treatment. The drawback is that potions have a shelf life and are consumable; occasional use is fine, but frequent use can get expensive.
Other sub-profession masters also presented their ideas, such as the Mind Tower in mechanics, the Seven Deadly Sins Doll series in golem magic, and Emotional Runes in enchantments. Each method has its advantages and drawbacks, allowing witches to choose according to their specific needs.
So which one did Jiang Cha use for Mephist?
—None of them!
The power of emotion, especially that of witches, exists at the intersection of idealism and materialism, forming a unique energy. The products mentioned above are all highly technical and can only be made by masters of their respective sub-professions.
Then why did Mephist’s aggression max out after drinking Jiang Cha’s potion?
“Honestly, I never understood why everyone makes things so complicated when the solution is so simple,” the girl said, tilting her head innocently while Mephist’s eyes were a mix of embarrassment and faint desire.
“Witches’ desires are actually simple. Broadly speaking, there are only four types: ‘sexual,’ ‘hunger,’ which are universal, and ‘combat’ and ‘knowledge,’ which are race-specific.”
“Your laziness, Mephist, basically comes from your combat desire being overly satisfied while your hunger and knowledge desires remain stable.”
Jiang Cha’s theoretical explanation attracted several witches who had just arrived at the combat club—though some may have been there just for amusement. Her theory was widely accepted: combat witches are generally simpler and more straightforward than research witches, and their lifestyles are more unruly.
“So if a witch’s emotions are like a solution of magical power, your current state, senior, is like a solution with unbalanced mana. Adding mana of the opposite attribute will balance it,” she explained.
“…So that’s why you gave me that potion first thing in the morning!?”
For the first time, the white-haired noble witch wanted to physically punish the girl, but restrained herself—not because anyone was watching, but because little Violet was present, and she couldn’t set a bad example.
“It wasn’t just that,” the girl said, still smiling mischievously despite three nights of torment in Mephist’s mind. She had a bit of a playful, scheming air, almost like a teasing little trickster. Cute, yes—but naughty as well.
“And the restorative potion too?”
“Jiang Cha!”
Pointing to another empty bottle, Mephist completely shed her elegant mask. She released a mental shock like a raging hammer, nearly solidifying in the real world and aimed directly at the girl—but Jiang Cha, prepared in advance, deflected it effortlessly.
“Hmm, the final step of state adjustment is complete. Congratulations, senior~”
Jiang Cha’s mischievous smile vanished, replaced by warmth and a hint of apology.
“Problem solved.”
“…Huh?”
With Jiang Cha’s reminder, Mephist noticed the change in her body. The previous physical heat and restlessness had disappeared, replaced by slightly heightened energy and a normally active mind.
It was as if all the excessive aggression and overflowing desire had been vented, and her emotions had returned to balance.
“Excessive aggression and extreme laziness are both unsuitable for witch combat. Your noble restraint was too troublesome, senior, so I had to make you vent it this way. I’m sorry.”
As Mephist was still processing this, a black-haired, red-eyed witch rubbed against her like a cat, soft and apologetic.
“Don’t be mad, okay~?”
Her soft voice, pitiful expression, and glistening eyes combined into an irresistible cute assault, reminiscent of Violet’s own adorable mannerisms.
“I’m not mad, it’s just…”
Regaining her composure, Mephist, out of noble pride, couldn’t even bring herself to say the name of the erotic potion.
“Mhm, I know you couldn’t accept that, senior, so I tricked you. But it’s cheap, okay? These two bottles are low-level potions, total cost only fifty coins!”
Mephist: “….”
She wanted to retort that money wasn’t an issue, but Jiang Cha’s method left her more shocked than the price. Fifty coins?
“Although it only treats minor symptoms and requires a skilled medical witch to determine dosage, it’s really inexpensive,” the girl said, smiling and showing her tiny fangs, spreading her five fingers like a proud display.
“Fifty coins, see?”
Jiang Cha then turned to the other witches watching and emphasized it again.
“I want to order!”
“Give me the package!”
“Monthly subscription discount, maybe!?”
Instantly, Jiang Cha was swarmed by excited witches.
Only Casey, who came to check why so many were gathered and stumbled upon this “product launch,” glanced at the bewildered Mephist and innocent Violet. She reached out and rubbed the little one’s head:
“You two really have a good parent relationship, huh.”
“Yes! We have a really good relationship!”
“Casey-senpai, don’t say that!”
