Chapter 82: A Familiar Face, a Familiar Lesson

Although Daiheng Peak was not the peak presided over by the Sect Master, it was the highest peak among the continuous mountain ranges of the Tianfeng Sect.

Therefore, after Meng Yingxing ascended to the mountaintop where Daiheng Peak’s main hall was located, the scenery before his eyes suddenly broadened, and even Wuyun Peak, where he had stayed for some time, appeared significantly smaller beneath Daiheng Peak.

“Reached the highest peak of Tianfeng!”

Xiu Qingcheng’s voice brightened a few shades.

“This scenery is truly beautiful, disciple.”

Her gaze swept, taking in the vibrant scenery, but then she spotted an acquaintance on a viewing platform nearby.

“Oh, disciple, look, isn’t that Mo Kaiming?”

Meng Yingxing’s gaze also retracted from the view of all mountains lying low beneath them, following Xiu Qingcheng’s voice to look to the side.

Mo Kaiming was still the same as before, with flowing black hair and an unblemished black robe.

He stood at the edge of the platform, facing the distant rolling hills, seemingly in some kind of meditative state.

“Mo Kaiming counts as Daiheng Peak’s disciple, right? Seeing him here is normal. It can’t be that he’s here to learn sword-riding too, can it?”

Xiu Qingcheng said half-jokingly.

Both she and Meng Yingxing knew that Mo Kaiming’s sword-riding skills were already superb.

In a flash, it was the scheduled time for the Daiheng Peak sword cultivators, and all the disciples who came to learn sword-riding had arrived.

Only Xiu Qingcheng hadn’t expected Mo Kaiming to be among this line of disciples; he really was here to learn sword-riding.

Meng Yingxing could feel Xiu Qingcheng’s prolonged silence.

She pursed her lips, suppressing a hint of a smile.

And what Meng Yingxing hadn’t expected was that Ye Xuan had also come.

Perhaps influenced by Xiu Qingcheng, Meng Yingxing couldn’t quite figure it out.

‘Could it be that Ye Xuan was here to learn fist-riding flight? Or perhaps chain-riding flight?’

“Maybe he’s just here to improve himself.”

She was just making an excuse for Mo Kaiming’s strange presence, and also for Ye Xuan.

There weren’t many people who came to learn sword-riding, so Ye Xuan could easily spot Meng Yingxing, who looked like a bean sprout in the queue.

“Yo! Brother Meng!”

Ye Xuan immediately greeted Meng Yingxing, his white teeth flashing in the light as he smiled.

Meng Yingxing smiled and nodded at him, considering it a greeting.

Ye Bo, on the other hand, watched the interaction between Meng Yingxing and Ye Xuan from the side, his face dark.

‘This Meng Yingxing kid only won the Divine Weapon Trial by sheer luck. He couldn’t possibly think he could rub shoulders with the likes of Ye Xuan and Mo Kaiming, could he? It really made one feel like it was a joke!’

‘When someone you look down upon suddenly surpasses you completely one day, if you are unwilling, then that feeling of contempt is very likely to breed more impure emotions.’

‘It would weave the beautiful dream you wished to believe, embracing you, leaving you self-trapped.’

“That guy named Ye Bo, he’s been watching you.”

Xiu Qingcheng was even more perceptive than Meng Yingxing; she could feel the unfriendly gaze coming from Ye Bo’s direction.

“Let him watch. If he tries to cause trouble, I can spar with him again.”

Meng Yingxing spoke to Xiu Qingcheng indifferently, unwilling to spare such a person another glance.

‘He had this free time; he might as well take another look at his Master’s sword hilt.’

“Indeed… spar a bit.”

Xiu Qingcheng smiled silently, chillingly.

The few individuals waiting to learn sword-riding waited for a while before the Jianxiu steward of Yanheng Peak finally led someone in, fashionably late.

“Everyone, thank you for waiting!”

The Jianxiu steward bowed apologetically to the long-waiting crowd, “For this sword-riding instruction, I’ve specially invited our Tianfeng Sect’s chief disciple, Lin Yunchuan, to demonstrate for everyone!”

As he spoke, the Jianxiu steward pushed Lin Yunchuan forward.

Meng Yingxing’s expression subtly changed.

“What a coincidence, we just met yesterday, and here we are again today.”

Xiu Qingcheng saw Lin Yunchuan and couldn’t help but call him ‘Tianfeng Sect’s loyal dog brother’ in her mind again.

Lin Yunchuan stood ramrod straight before the crowd, a formulaic smile on his face, hands clasped behind his back.

His disciple robes were spotless, with no superfluous wrinkles, as upright as the man himself.

“It’s Senior Brother Lin!”

“It’s my first time being this close to Senior Brother!”

Some people next to Meng Yingxing began to whisper.

Xiu Qingcheng could feel a kind of fervent admiration spreading through the group.

‘Did the loyal dog brother actually have so many fans? She just found him unremarkable.’

“Senior Brother Lin, can I shake your hand!”

Ye Xuan raised his hand high, standing out in the crowd like a crane among chickens, stars sparkling in his eyes.

Even his usual self-address of “this daddy” had changed to “I.”

Ye Xuan’s words sounded like a question, but in fact, the moment he finished speaking, he had already flashed in front of Lin Yunchuan, forcefully grasping Lin Yunchuan’s hand.

“My name is Ye Xuan, I’ve long heard of Senior Brother’s name! It’s truly an honor to meet you today!!!”

Lin Yunchuan smiled faintly, shaking Ye Xuan’s hand earnestly.

“Junior Brother Ye Xuan, you are a talent.”

“I’ve been away for a long time, and it’s my honor to finally meet all of you junior brothers and sisters.”

Lin Yunchuan naturally saw Meng Yingxing in the crowd and exchanged a glance with him.

After a series of friendly interactions, this farce, which closely resembled a fan meeting, came to an end.

“Steward Jin has asked me to demonstrate the art of sword-riding, so without further ado, I shall now demonstrate it for everyone.”

Getting straight to the point, Lin Yunchuan wasted no words.

His expression tightened, and he raised his hand with a flourish.

Instantly, a white light flashed from the scabbard on his back, and a long sword immediately unsheathed and soared into the air, moving at an incredibly high speed, weaving its sword light around everyone like threads into a net.

After the demonstration, Lin Yunchuan, maintaining his formulaic smile, began to explain the key points of sword-riding to the junior brothers and sisters.

“Everyone has probably heard that sword-riding is essentially a form of spiritual energy application. Spiritual energy is imbued into the sword, and then through spiritual energy, the sword is manipulated to move as one desires.”

“Sword-riding is also a very common method of travel…”

Lin Yunchuan lectured from the basic theory of sword-riding all the way to its practical application, making Xiu Qingcheng feel like she was in some theoretical class, and the pain of an early morning lecture began to swell in her brain.

“But everyone also needs to pay attention to many things when riding a sword to travel, to prevent any accidents. Just like a fellow Daoist I once encountered, he fell from his sword due to distraction while riding it.”

Xiu Qingcheng: “Why does this fellow Daoist he’s talking about… sound so familiar? Disciple, is it you?”

Meng Yingxing: “It’s probably me.”

‘He hadn’t expected to become the ‘fellow Daoist’ in Lin Yunchuan’s words.’

He looked at Lin Yunchuan, and saw Lin Yunchuan giving him a meaningful look.

‘It was probably meant to remind Meng Yingxing again: improper sword-riding leads to tears from loved ones.’
